January Hues........

..........they can be Golden......
....like the marmalade oranges which you've just spent hours upon hours (ok, a couple at least!)chopping and slicing until a blister appears on your finger!....
...and then you burn your hands because you've left the sugar warming in the oven too long....
......and then you remember that you forgot to remove the pips from the lemon and lime you've added to the pan to help the marmalade set.......
........but you have remembered to sterilise and warm your jars until they're glistening........

....and while you're waiting for the rolling boil, you can pop out and see how the animals(one horse, one shetland pony and a chicken!) are getting along in the snow-covered field.....
.....and then the moment of truth.....the mercury hits that all-important mark (whilst holding your breath at this bit because it could all go horribly wrong if that level isn't reached when it should!)......which then produces....
...the best looking (and tasting, if I may be so modest) golden hue this side of Seville!
....and on the way home....
....the sun decides to make an appearance at the end of the day creating some lovely pink hues, lifting the grey and dull gloom of the previous few days....

...and creating a beautiful sunset over the bay.
Some other hues have been created by my friend Betty among the colours of the most delightful lavender sachet, which she sent me as part of my Xmas parcel from her...

and I love it very much. Betty paints very expertly on to silk and the best news is, you too can be the proud owner of one of her creations because she sells them right here in her Folksy Shop, as well as beautiful silk scarves and paintings so it's well worth popping over to have a look. She's one busy lady because she's also organising a Spring Bouquet Swap, details of which can be found on her blog (link above). I'm joining in, are you?
(beautiful silk painting attributed to Betty)

Hope you're all taking care in the snow.

Huge Hugs and Thanks to all the lovely people who have been leaving their sweet comments recently. Makes my days.

ps Everything pertaining to the marmalade was done at work, where the animals live too!

Phew.......

......finally caught my breath.....and while I was waiting, busied myself with a little of this......

...and some of that......for the new baby born in NZ just before Christmas.....think it will look cute with a pretty blouse or t-shirt and some stripey tights!.....|(recognise the wool, Shaz?!)....
....and then I noticed that everyone seemed to be 'rippling' lately, especially this lovely Lady, whose work I so admire so taking my inspiration from her new Autumn Sky Blanket, I set about making my own from my ever-growing stash .....

....but it just kept on growing and growing so I had to come up with a plan before I ran out of wool....and then I hit on the idea of joining it at both ends and calling it a circular blanket!....Genius!.....only now there was a very large hole in the middle which somehow had to be filled-in! As luck would have it, I just happened to be browsing on Ravelry and found a great pattern for a crocheted jacket which had a lovely motif on the back and which looked perfect for the job so out came the hook once more and I ended up with this.....

....but at first I wasn't too happy with the finished result because the whole effect seemed rather gawdy with the mixter-maxter of different wool and textures....
.....but I slept on it (not the blanket, just the idea!)..
....and you know what, I rather like it now!
...in fact, it wouldn't look out of place in one of those old-fashioned Gypsy Caravans...... she says dreamily!

....and finally, one of my favourite pics of the two of us, taken a few years back at my Sister's Anniversary Party....I'm the one wearing the glasses!
......and this was us in October at my Niece's Birthday Bash.
Funny old thing, grief, isn't it......but onwards and upwards now, I'm not going to mention it again.....I don't want to scare you away, you've only just got here!

Have a great week my friends and take care should the snow be falling in your part of the World.

Much Love
