One of those days.........

......when the sun is high in the sky......
......and the laundry dries crisp and white on the line in no time......
........which leaves some space for thumbing through the latest edition of Vogue (during my coffee break, of course!), a magazine which I never buy because it's too expensive for a start and I have absolutely nothing in common with the readership so having/buying/owning the latest fashion doesn't interest me a jot but I absolutely love the graphics inside. The photography is top notch - although I tend to gloss over the pics which feature stick thin models, not a good look in my opinion - and in this recent edition, there are some fabulous clothes which I covet unashamedly such as......
....oops, sorry wrong magazine, wrong century!.....
...here we are......
....as modelled by the very 'Early David Bowie'-looking Tilda Swinton...
....the most wonderful TARTAN COAT....

...and this is my favourite.....the whole Bonnie Prince Charlie look going on here (not that I'm a fan of Bonnie Prince Charlie who was a bit of a woose, by all accounts!).....

....with apologies for rubbish photography by me!
....and of course, no self-respecting pseudo-Scottish outfit would be complete without a hip-flask with flash logo! and yes, all these fabulous clothes are by CHANEL!
....look at the beauty of the cardi and that cute Tam-o-Shanter (beret) with the ubiquitous Chanel headband....

....loving the cuff....
........another brand name I'd be quite partial to if I had the chance!(Gucci in case you can't see it properly)....

.....and who wouldn't love this little trinket dangling from their neck?...
.......I think I could crochet one similar! I'll have a bash....

....and more Chanel, for those chillier nights.....
.....and matching boots to keep your tootsies warm...
...all pretty reasonably priced, I thought (joking).
Blame it on the warm temps going to my head!

Hope you're enjoying this luscious weather, wherever you are (it's nearly Mid-Summer, best make the most of it).

Lots of Love to All

Out and About......

Under a clear blue sky......
....we went in search of some crafty goodness at the start of our little local Arts Festival, now in its 4th year and going from strength-to-strength as each year passes. There really are some talented folks around and it was great to be able to see all of it practically right here on my doorstep.....
...so we started with a genteel stroll around a lovely exhibition in the Church Hall which included some fine work such as.....

this handpainted and handstitched on linen piece entitled 'An Heir at Last', obviously referring to the fact they started off with 6 girls! The workmanship was jaw-dropping when viewed up close and personal......
......and also by the same Lady, a couple of patriotic cushion covers.......
....and this was one of my favourites, also by the same artist, entitled 'The Letter' featuring an original billet doux sewed on to a beautiful piece of antique lace....

......sorry about the reflection of the rooflights in this pic but I couldn't resist admiring this pretty piece of vintage lace attached to a piece of modern tartan complete with freestyle embroidery....
.... followed by a look around the Church whose roof was beautifully painted by commission of some members of the local gentry as a memorial to the many local fishermen who lost their lives at sea......
....this pic was taken from the balcony but I couldn't sit in the front row because my knees went all wobbly so I safely positioned myself in the back pew! What a wimp, eh? Nice view though...

.....an original gas lamp in the stairwell to the belltower..
...and the most amazing vintage curtains, featuring fishing boats, on the stage in the Church Hall...aren't they fab?
....and my last favourite of the day, a little clay group of Fisherwomen and their children, dressed in vintage linen and lace.....adorable.

....and the sky was still blue when we left and went on to the next exhibition which I'll leave until tomorrow. I'm totally aware that some of you may well be snoozing at this juncture!!!

As an aside, I've recently become a follower of a wonderful crafty blog whose author's recent post about blogging gave me some food for thought. I found myself agreeing with most of what she had to say. Have a look here and see what you think. Annie also offers some really lovely free patterns. Her latest for the Teeny Tiny Baby Bootees are totally irresistable!

I hope you're all enjoying the good weather - it makes such a difference to even the most mundane of days, don't you think? Wish it could last forever....well, I suppose it could if I moved to somewhere like Australasia but I'm not so it won't! Enjoy

Thanks to all you FAB Folk who visited last time and left your very nice comments and 'Yoohaloo' to the new peeps on board. Lovely to have you all here.x
