Less is More - Two-Weeker!

Good morning crafters

There is a new challenge just starting over at Less is More.  This challenge will run for two weeks to cover the Christmas/New Year break.  We've worked our way around our usual sequence and we're back with a Theme challenge which is....

Homespun

Not an easy challenge for me but I've got two sample cards for you today showing how I interpreted the theme.  Here they are...

I stamped four different stitch designs on a white cardstock panel and topped with a faux stitched heart, stamped and die cut from some patterned paper.  I tied some twine in a bow to the back of a button, adhered this with a glue dot and stamped the sentiment to co-ordinate with the button.

Materials used:

  • Stamps: Hot Off The Press - Stamped Stitches; Clearly Besotted - Love Hearts (and co-ordinating die)
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black; Versa Color - Celadon
  • Patterned paper from stash
  • Accents: Twine - Hemptique - Ruby Collection; Button - Stampin' Up - Subtles

And my second card...

I embossed a white cardstock panel with a patchwork quilt design.  I then stamped the sentiment onto a strip of white cardstock and the image onto some gingham patterned paper.  I swirled some jute twine and anchored it in place when adhering the image on 3D foam.

Materials used:

  • Embossing folder: DoCrafts - Boofle
  • Stamps: Woodware - Home Sweet Home
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Patterned Paper: DoCrafts - Boofle
  • Accents: Jute twine from stash

We'd love to see how you interpret this theme.  And don't forget, this challenge will run for a fortnight, with the next challenge starting on Saturday 2 January 2016.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Home Sweet Home

Hi there

Apologies for not posting for over a week.  My mojo disappeared for a few days but I did manage to make a couple of cards at the weekend but have been unable to share them until now.

The first one is this new home card I made for a very special friend of mine.

I stamped the little cottage and sentiment on some white cardstock and used a stitched oval die to cut this out and then coloured it in with my ProMarkers.  I added some Glossy Accents to the windows and some Wink of Stella to create smoke coming out of the chimney.  I then used a patchwork embossing folder to emboss a white cardstock panel and added touches of Wink of Stella to some of the embossed flowers, dots and stars.  I think the patchwork works well with the cottage image and the stitching detail on the oval die cut.  The oval was adhered to the panel using thin 3D foam.  I then wrapped some twine around the panel before popping the panel up on 3D foam strips.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Woodware - Home Sweet Home
  • Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black
  • Die: Lil' Inkers - Stitched Ovals
  • Embossing Folder: Tri-Boss - Boofle
  • Twine: Doodlebug - Brights Selection
  • Coloured with ProMarkers
  • Accented with Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents

I'd like to enter this card at the following challenges:

STAMPlorations - October Challenge - Stamps and Embossing

That's all for now.  I'll be back tomorrow to introduce the new challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More and would love for you to pop back.

Until then, have a lovely day.

Clearly Besotted Stamps - September Release Teaser Time - Day 3

Hi guys

Welcome to Day 3 of Teaser Time for Clearly Besotted Stamps' September release of products.

If you've been following Stephanie and members of the Design Team (linked from Steph's blog) over the last couple of days I think you'll agree that this month's release features some fantastic sets of stamps and co-ordinating dies.

Today I'm sharing three cards I have made using a stamp set called 'Tag Along' together with co-ordinating dies.  This set features loads of different sentiments together with tags and banners.

I think myself and DT Mandy were on the same wavelength when we picked up these stamps, here's the link to her teaser yesterday!

For the first two cards I teamed up Tag Along with a die from the previously released Baby Love Collection.

and I had to make a girlie one too...

For the next card I used a combination of Tag Along and the balloon stamps from the previously released Make a Wish set.

There are lots of other sentiments in the Tag Along set so I think I'll be getting a lot of use out of this one, its really handy.

The new releases will be available to buy from the online store on 6 September.

Thanks for popping by today.  I'll be sharing another sneaky peek tomorrow so I'll hopefully see you again then.

Take care

Precious Baby Boy

Hi folks

Today I'm sharing a card I made for an order for a friend.  The little chap concerned made an appearance into the world about 6 weeks early so I had to make this one ahead of time! :)

Apologies for the dark photo, I took this at about 7.15am today and the light wasn't great but I had to pass the card on today.

I couldn't wait to use my new stamp set by Clearly Besotted Stamps, Baby Love.  There are some lovely images in this set and I think this little pram is just adorable.  I was also itching to use my new pack of MFT Die-namics Fishtail Flags Stax.  I've seen these used all over blogland but everywhere I looked they were either really expensive or sold out.  I dragged my chap around a local craft shop a few weeks ago and he thought I was completely bonkers when I let out a little shriek from the corner of the shop where I found a little pack just for me!  *little claps*

I had all the elements stamped and cut out and was going to use a square card base but I just couldn't find a layout I liked so I decided on a landscape layout in the end.  I'm not entirely happy with it as it looks a little busy, sometimes I start with a layout idea and other cards just sort of evolve.  The pram ended up looking a little lost so I sparkled it up with some Stickles for a bit of bling.  Boys do glam too right?! :)

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted Stamps - Baby Love
  • Ink: Versa Color - Baby Blue; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Dies: Spellbinders Nestabilities - Labels One; MFT Die-namics - Fishtail Flags Stax; Xcut Nesting Dies - Circles
  • Cardstock: Crafters Companion - Neenah Classic Crest Card (white); Docrafts - Boofle 6" x 6" Designstax (blue gingham)
  • Glitter Glue: Stickles - Star Dust
  • Ribbon and gems from stash

Hopefully be back soon as I hope to find time to make a couple of challenge cards in the next day or two.

Thanks for popping by as always.

A Little Bundle of Joy

Morning lovelies

Just a quick post this morning to share a new baby card I made to order for a friend.

When I made this one I discovered that I'm in serious need of some baby themed stamps, this is all I have! I have loads of old baby themed peel-offs but I didn't want to use these.  I'll use them up to make some cards for my stock but I feel some new purchases are required...and soon! :)

I didn't really have a design in mind when I started this one.  I stamped the image and coloured it with ProMarkers then used a Spellbinders die to cut it out.  I then went in search of some patterned paper and found this gorgeous design in my Boofle paper pad.  Not a bad match considering I coloured the image without thinking about what else to use!  A little scalloped border, a sentiment and some gems and there you have it!

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Cart-Us (image); Personal Impressions - Mix and Match stamp set (sentiment)
  • Ink: Memento - London Fog
  • Die: Spellbinders Nestabilities - Classic Scalloped Ovals Large
  • Design Paper: Docrafts - Boofle 6" x 6" Designstax
  • Cardstock: Papermania Premium Textured Cardstock (lilac)
  • Punch: EK Success - Edger Punch Dotted Scallop
  • Coloured with Promarkers
  • Gems from stash

I'm feeling a lot better this morning, hopefully this bug is finally on its way out :)

Have a fab weekend guys

The Paper Players #135

Hi there

I've just made it with about an hour to spare to enter this week's challenge at The Paper Players.  LeAnne's theme challenge this week is 'In Stitches' - to create anything sewing themed, stitched of even funny.

I nearly passed on this one until I remembered a few bits I had in my stash that would fit the brief, and this is what I came up with...

and the embossed detail...

The patchwork embossing folder and design paper I used for this card are both from the Boofle range made by Docrafts.  The paper is from the 6 x 6 Designstax paper pad.  There are some really beautiful papers in there, most sheets are the designs featured in the patchwork paper I used on this card, they are double-sided with plain colours on the reverse and some are also glittered, really lovely designs to use as backings.  I finished off with some ribbon, a die cut sentiment panel and some coloured pearls.

Materials used:
  • Embossing Folder: Boofle by Docrafts
  • Design Paper: Boofle by Docrafts - 6" x 6" Designstax
  • Die: Spellbinders - Classic Ovals Large
  • Stamp: Woodware - Salutations stamp set
  • Ink: Versa Color - Mint
  • Ribbon and pearls from stash

Thanks for visiting and have a lovely evening, I'm off to fill my tummy with something yummy! :)

First Attempt with Promarkers!

Hiya

I thought I would share this Christmas card with you as it was my first attempt at colouring with Promarkers, I quite clearly need a lot more practice but I was very pleased with the overall card so don't mind sharing! :)

Apologies for the quality of the photos, the lighting wasn't great...

And a close up...

I started with a plain white base card and rounded two of the corners with my decorative scissors.  I then fixed a paper strip to one side of the base card using the red and white snowflake paper from the Boofle Christmas A4 Paper Pack.  I then used my Sizzix Big Shot and embossed a strip of white cardstock using a snowflake embossing folder I received free with a craft magazine, which I then fixed over the red and white paper.  I next stamped the image, 'Pickle with Gift' by Wild Rose Studio, using an Impress ink pad in Jet Black onto Kanban 300gsm Brilliant White Cardstock.  I've read that the best ink pads to use with Promarkers are either Impress or Memento as the ink won't bleed.  I then had my first experience of colouring with Promarkers, its not as easy as it looks!  Halfway through I also realised that my limited stock of Promarkers didn't contain a black or a grey so I had to colour poor Pickle in pale blue!  I then die cut the image using the largest of the Xcut Nesting Circle Dies.  I used 3D foam to fix this to the right hand side of the card.  I added a silver foiled sentiment from Craftwork Cards Festive Messages and balanced the card with a bow tied using stitched blue grosgrain ribbon from my stash.  I then finished off by adding touches of Stickles Glitter Glue in Star Dust to the image and the embossed snowflakes.

Materials used:
  • Cardstock and Paper: Kanban 300gsm Brilliant White Cardstock; Boofle Christmas A4 Paper Pack
  • Stamp: Wild Rose Studio 'Pickle with Gift'
  • Die: Xcut Nesting Dies Circle (5pcs)
  • Sentiment: Craftwork Cards Festive Messages
  • Promarkers: Poppy, Denim Blue, Powder Blue, Leaf Green, Tulip Yellow
  • Glitter Glue: Stickles 'Star Dust'
  • Ribbon and Embossing Folder from stash
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog, its very much appreciated.
