Random Wax: 2020 Absolute Football (5 Dollar Tree Packs)

2020 Absolute: More of these Dollar Tree exclusive packs of 2020 Absolute that I purchased in December 2020.  Playoffs kick off today and we'll start with LaMar Jackson whose Ravens I think are the top team in the league this year.  Maybe this is the year Jackson breaks through in the playoffs.  Hopefully the Bills can meet up with them in the AFC title game.
Really good pull in these packs.  Those yellow parallels are exclusive to Dollar Tree packs.
The rookie cards are foil and the design is reversed from what we see with veterans.  I like it.  Peoples-Jones and Edwards-Helaire have been solid players in their careers.
Wow do we look at Jared Goff differently now.  That trade has really worked out for both Detroit and the Rams.  Feels like Goff has been around forever but he's only 29.  Joey Bosa is still a force for the struggling Chargers though injuries have taken a toll on him the last two seasons.  Matt Ryan was still putting up big numbers but he and my Falcons never recovered from the defeat in the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots.  For that matter I don't think I have either.

Random Wax: 2021 Absolute Football

2021 Absolute: This Red Zone photo of Davante Adams is pretty nice.  The catch, the snow, what I imagine is a pained look on the defender's face - a winner.
The RC cards in this set are done with a different silver foil design which appears dark when scanned.
This is an eight card pack so not a lot to show off.  Pull didn't wow me but the Adams and Bosa make this okay with me considering how small the pack is.

Random Wax: 2020 Absolute Football

2020 Absolute: I picked up a lot of this brand in 2020 and I think, think, this is the last pack I have to show off.  J.J. Watt has announced his retirement after this season.  Dude had an amazing career and will be sorely missed.
Crazy how these packs age so quickly.  When I originally scanned these two years ago who knew?  All the ups and downs Tannehill would go through?  Von Miller would win a Super Bowl with the Rams?  Derek Carr would likely be given up on by the Raiders?
Rookies!  I'm sure all these panned out...  Only McFarland is still in the NFL but hasn't really done anything.
Godwin is of course great in Tampa and Davis is a solid receiver for the Bills while KJ Hamler has struggled in the NFL.  I liked this set's design and this was another fun pack.  Doesn't look like it but that Edwards-Helaire is a green parallel.

Random Wax: 2020 Absolute Football

2020 Absolute:  First week of NFL action so let's kick off Sunday games with a pack of 2020 Absolute Football.  I'm really hoping Christian McCaffrey can have a healthy and successful year.  He's a favorite of mine and he's so good on the field.
My pull in this pack didn't age that well.  Waller is still one of the top tight ends in the game though.
Went with the backsides on these rookie cards.  All three of these guys have had some success in the league with Antonio Winfield being a Pro Bowler.
Everyone will be looking at the Cleveland Browns this year after all the drama around Deshaun Watson.  Peoples-Jones will be one of his targets once he gets back on the field. I've always liked former Buffalo Bill Sammy Watkins.  I was happy to see him win a ring with the Chiefs.  This year he's a Green Bay Packer.  Have a great first Sunday of football!

Random Wax: 2020 Absolute Football (5 Dollar Tree Packs)

2020 Absolute Football:  Hopefully this guy has figured out whatever issues he had with the Cardinals.  Seems very odd.  I know they were beaten pretty good by the Rams in the playoffs but the Cardinals still seem to be trending in a good way.  Arizona fans have to be nervous.
That Cooper Kupp pull looks a lot different from what it did in December, 2020 when I opened these packs.  Yes I'm just now sharing these packs.  Kupp of course was the all-world wide receiver for the Rams this last season and of course the MVP of the Super Bowl.
These rookies were all good pulls.  The RC cards are done differently as seen by the Henderson and Jefferson cards.  The Akers yellow parallel really works as it highlights the team colors.  As a reminder the yellow parallels were exclusive to Dollar Tree and came one to a pack.
This was a fun pack.  Good design and my pull was a winner.  Fun going back and seeing what these look like two years after initially opening the packs.  And I still have more of these to show off in the future.

Random Wax: 2020 Absolute Football (5 Dollar Tree Packs)

2020 Absolute Football: Von Miller still hasn't registered a sack for his new team, the Rams, but you have to think on that defensive front he'll get his shots at the quarterback.  These Dollar Tree packs came with one yellow parallel per pack.  This design overall is one I like with the lace prominent in the look.
Nice to see Matthew Stafford who is also on the Rams now and has the Rams in the playoff mix.  The Vikings may only be 6-7 this year but it isn't because Kirk Cousins is sloppy throwing the football.  He's thrown 27 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions.
Both of these guys have had off years after starring in previous seasons.
That Jonathan Taylor yellow parallel looks a lot different this year with the monster season he is having.  He's leading the league with over 1300 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns on the ground.  Some fun football to kick of NFL Sunday.

2021 Absolute Football

2021 Absolute Football: Found these at a Target when I was out of town.  I've liked some of the past releases and the strings being incorporated in the design works for me.  We'll kick it off with Stefon Diggs of my Bills.  Hope the win against the Saints on Thursday can get him and the offense back on track.
This year's design is one I like as well.  Hits all the marks sans the player's position.  I initially thought there was two much white but nope - the mix of white and color works for me.
Plenty of youngsters as nine of the 20 cards are rookies.  You'll see them in both their team or college unis.  These cards are also silver foil which is why they scan so dark.
The backs are okay considering they have the bare minimum stats.  That James Robinson is a Red Squares parallel #/499.  Not a bad pack of cards.  I might get more if I see them on the shelves based on the design.  Would like to see more than 20 cards in a pack though.  Enjoy your football day.

Random Wax: 2020 Absolute Football

2020 Absolute Football:  Great having football back on Sundays.  I'm watching football on the couch in my Warrick Dunn Falcons jersey.  We'll kick off this pack with Tua who is looking to take his game, and the Dolphins, to the next level.  I'm curious what he can do.  If he can succeed he'll be another of the nice young quarterbacks the NFL has going for it.
These base cards of veterans look a bit different from the rookie cards. They are both very similar but it's nice to have them look similar yet different from each other.  I know Todd Gurley isn't playing at the moment but I'm still a big fan and was really hoping his year in Atlanta would be something of a comeback.  That never materialized.
Plenty of rookies in these packs as they almost made up half the cards (9 of 20).
A few inserts and a Boomer Esiason sighting.  Not only that but in a Cardinals uni.  Didn't see that coming.  Pulled PC guy Christian McCaffrey which is always nice.  Good pull and good looking cards makes for a fun pack.

Random Wax: 2020 Absolute Football (4 Dollar Tree Packs)

2020 Absolute Football:  These four packs are from Dollar Tree and has one yellow parallel per pack.  I bought quite a few and will show them off in groupings like this.  The design is solid .  I'm not a huge fan of yellow parallels as the color just doesn't work for me in contrast to the team colors.  Won't complain about a Joe Burrow parallel though.
This set has 100 veterans and 100 rookies in the base offering.  Not the strongest pull amongst the veterans but some guys here everyone knows well.
The foil put on the rookie cards makes them stand out from the veterans as well as the design being reversed.  These were fun but we'll see some better pulls in my other packs I'll share in the future.

2020 Absolute Blaster with Tua Relic

2020 Absolute Football:  Managed to find this blaster and some packs locally.  I'll show off my blaster today and the packs over time.  This has similarities to the basketball design which I liked and I like it here as well.  I think I've pulled more Bradys than I feel I have but I'll kick this off with Tom Terrific anyway.
I like the look of these and the football laces on the borders is a cool look in my opinion.  I will say the names were tough to read and I had to hold the cards at an angle.  I like the backs as well.  The front photo is covered in a team color and it looks pretty cool at times as with this OBJ card.  The backs are another win.
Absolute is about the rookies.  Over half of this blaster was devoted to the youngsters.  The RC cards are pretty nice and I had a really nice pull even without pulling a Joe Burrow.
Because everyone needs some maize and blue in their day.
My relic from this box was a great pull.  He'll get his first NFL start this week and I know folks are excited to see what he can do.
Hard to see but that AJ Green is a green parallel.  Not a ton of inserts found in these so if that is your thing just know going in.  Those darker colors did not scan well on that Julio Jones insert.
A nice retired great appearance.  I like that Russell Wilson photo on his Red Zone insert.  This was a fun box.  A design I like and a good pull makes for a nice box.  That being said the packs I opened weren't that kind.  I'll post those packs over time but I opened three packs (20 cards) and they were all a bit disappointing.  Not to scare anyone off but wanted to share my experience.
