Orange Tree

When I stared this oil painting I just had the oranges and the leaves. When I stepped back and looked at it. I knew it needed more so I added the orange blossoms which gave it a better feel. Then I thought a little animal life would be good so the little bird was painted in.

About this painting :The challenge here was to catch the distortion the glass made as you looked at the lime. I also wanted to pick up some of the reflected lime color in the glass.

About This Painting: I think that reds are one of the most difficult colors to paint with. I use a litmited pallet and to get those bright reds with out dulling them is a challenge.In this painting for my dark areas I use transparent red oxide. I used transparent Indian Yellow this keeps the apples bright and shinny and still lets the red show through.
