Kell on Earth

{PR Powerhouse, Kelly Cutrone with former assistant Stephanie and new assistant, Andrew}
Kell on Earth, the new reality show documenting the hectic life of People’s Revolution founder, Kelly Cutrone premiered on Bravo last night and I am already hooked! Between the stresses that go on at Camp Zoe on The Rachel Zoe Project and now Kell on Earth, with it’s uber-stressed staffers whose major dark undereye circles tell just how sleep-deprived and stressed they must really be, I am convinced that fashion has to be one of the most cut-throat and demanding industries to work in. I felt a little stressed just watching the show, but it is all so fascinating.

You may remember Kelly as Lauren Conrad’s boss on The Hills and later as Whitney Port’s mentor on The City. Cutrone gets major props from me as she is the owner and founder of an incredibly successful, international fashion PR firm that she has built and sustained herself.

Did anyone tune in last night? What did you think? Will you be watching this season? If you missed the premiere episode last night, you can watch it here.

Red Carpet Recap: The SAG Awards

SAG Awards 2010
{The cast of Nine looked radiant at the 2010 SAG Awards}
In my opinion, the ladies seemed to fare much better on the red carpet for the 2010 SAG Awards than they did at last week’s Golden Globes. Some may argue that fewer fashion risks were taken, but let’s face it…risks don’t always ensure positive results. While some may have played it closer to the safe side, there were fewer disappointment’s on last night’s red carpet (at least in my humble opinion).
sag lea michele2
One of my favorite looks of the night was Glee’s Lea Michele in this gorgeous green Catherine Malandrino gown. Not only is the color absolutely beautiful (it happens to be a personal fave), but the fabric drapes her body perfectly. I love, love, love this look!
sag kate hudson Kate Hudson seems to be feeling “white-hot” this awards season, opting for a white dress yet again. I happen to like this Emilio Pucci gown much better than the ill-fitting number she chose for the Globes. It is sexy and daring, like Kate herself.
sag marion cotillard
Marion Cotillard looked fabulous in this Elie Saab. This is a woman who takes fashion risks and just about always gets it right. But alas, she is French!
Snap31 Kyra Sedgwick’s ethereal Vera Wang is beautiful. I love the accent of the grey sash and embroidery. So lovely!
sag christina applegate
While Christina Applegate’s dress isn’t the most exciting, it is elegant and flattering. The color and shape look gorgeous on her.
sag penelope
Some thought Penélope Cruz played it too safe in this black, embellished L’Wren Scott dress. Perhaps, but the woman is smoldering. She would look amazing in a potato sack!
sag carey mulligan
How adorable is An Education’s Carrie Mulligan? This beautiful, red Lanvin gown accentuates her gamine features perfectly.
sage sandra bullock Now, on to the risk-takers. I’ve read mixed reviews of Sandra Bullock’s Alexander McQueen gown. It seems some people thought the embellishment was too much. I though the silhouette was gorgeous on her and actually like the cobalt embroidery.
sag diane kruger
Just when I thought Diane Kruger could do now wrong sartorially, she showed up to last week’s Globes in a poufy, ruffly, cotton candy pink concoction, that quite frankly, I just couldn’t wrap my head around. In my eyes, she redeemed herself at the SAG Awards in this mustard yellow Jason Wu gown. I happen to like this color in casual clothing and while I probably would have preferred to see the gown in a different color, the shape is lovely and she pulls it off.
toni colette sag 10
So, I can’t fully decide how I feel about Toni Colette’s Rafael Cennamo number. I like the gorgeous turquoise and gold accents (how amazing is her jewelry here?) and I think it flatters her quite well, but the ruffles may be too much. I think if the bottom of the dress were a bit different, it would be a definite hit. On another note, I don’t think Toni has ever looked better. She has looked so gorgeous and radiant lately!

Stella & Dot S/S 2010 Giveaway

spring palm beach
I am still very excited about Stella and Dot’s new Spring / Summer 2010 line! Inspired by travel (right up my alley!), the new line features collections which draw inspiration from various places. The bright colors of the Palm Beach collection really resonate with me right now.
spring palm
One of my favorite pieces is the chartreuse Palm Necklace, made of glass beads on hand knotted turquoise silk thread. It features a starfish brooch dotted by hand-set pave glass stones. It looks great layered or on its own and is extremely versatile. “Michelle Obama's daytime inaugural dress color. Pantone's color of the season. This is the piece to instantly bring a favorite outfit up to date with a splash of whimsy. Wear as a single strand, doubled, tripled, with the Starfish brooch or without, with another brooch in back or front.” It can be worn seven different ways!

Red Carpet Recap: Golden Globes 2010

7
{My Favorite of the Night: The Amazing Emily Blunt in Dolce & Gabbana}
This year’s Golden Globes were a bit of a let down fashion-wise. The show was actually very entertaining and was peppered with both funny and touching moments: Ricky Gervais calling Mel Gibson out on his drinking, Mo’Nique’s, Meryl Streep’s, and Sandra Bullock’s touching acceptance speeches, and my favorite speech of the night by the hilarious Robert Downey, Jr. So, while I enjoyed the show, I can’t say I was blown away by anyone’s dress. A handful got it right, but the overwhelming theme of the evening seemed to be tacky, overly adorned prom dresses in garish colors. I won’t focus on the negative, but I will share my favorites of the evening with you.
Julia Roberts
I loved Julia Robert’s drapey, black jersey dress. I could totally see myself wearing this. She definitely stood out in a sea of tacky prom dresses this year.
CAMERON DIAZ photo | Cameron Diaz
I actually liked Cameron’s red Alexander McQueen dress. If styled just a little differently, it may have swayed more people to like it. I do think however, that her shiny makeup and pulled-back hair looked much too severe.
January Jones
I really liked January Jones’ look. I love that she wore a chic black Lanvin gown in a sea of cotton candy hues. The headband is darling and lends a vintage vibe. Does anyone else think she looks much prettier in character for Mad Men than she usually does in modern day clothes?
Anna Paquin
I liked Anna Paquin’s Stella McCartney gown. She looks great in gold and the shape is lovely on her. I just wasn’t crazy about the shoes she paired with it.

Reese Witherspoon, one of my personal style icons looked beautiful at the Globes. The shape and color of her dress were classic and I loved that she didn't overdo it with the accessories. She, along with Emily Blunt had my favorite looks of the evening.

Chic Shoppes

kate spade13
  This morning felt like Christmas. Now, I know Christmas is still a couple of weeks away, but I was so excited about the Winter issue of Lonny coming out today that I felt like a child anxious to open her gifts on Christmas morning. What would this beautiful package contain? So far, Lonny has not missed a step. The styling and photography are beautiful and inspiring, as are the interiors they have featured.
kate spade14
Two of my favorite features in this edition were the stories on Kate Spade’s flagship Fifth Avenue store and J.Crew’s Women’s store on the Upper East Side. The styling of both really resonated with me and proves how important visual merchandising can be for a brand.
kate spade12 The Kate Spade store sells a lifestyle, a personality. It is quirky, festive, and has a charming vintage, preppy vibe, like the clothes. The store’s décor illustrates these points perfectly. It’s fun and bold and makes you yearn for a piece of it.

The Flagship J.Crew store on the Upper East Side of Manhattan opened its doors in September of 2008, it’s purpose: to house the limited edition Women’s Collection. Taking a cue from Creative Director, Jenna Lyons’ own home, the store is visually stunning. “She drew inspiration from old Manhattan, segued with today’s downtown influences.” The combination of reclaimed floors in a refined herringbone pattern, huge, gilded mirrors, vintage lighting fixtures, and abstract art is divine and sets the perfect stage for the collection. The space feels completely soothing and chic. It is an oasis from the hurried pace of New York.

Personally, I love the design of both stores. My mood would most likely dictate which one appealed to me the most at any given moment. Does one of the stores appeal to you more than the other? Be sure to read the latest issue of Lonny for the full story on both of these gorgeous retail spaces.
