Floral Quatrafancy

Hello!!

Its been a while hasn't it!! Did you miss me?! Life has been totally manic around here lately and I'm afraid doing much of anything in my craft room or on the blog has had to take a bit of a back seat.

Today was my first day on the new permanent job as a Learning Mentor. Its quite different to working in the manic Student Services and I'm still not entirely sure what to make of it. I just want to get properly stuck in to the job now and its a bit frustrating as I don't have any students to see as my group of kids don't start school until September.

Anyway, I've also been super busy finishing off a million and one wedding things for a client - 90 favour boxes with bows, tags, menu cards, table plan, table numbers, orders of service....as you can imagine, I've been very busy!

Now that the wedding is over I'm hoping to have a quieter few weeks where I can get creating beautiful things for you. I have a bunch of new goodies from preorder that I haven't even touched yet!! Scandalous I know!!

Stamp Set: Remembering Your Birthday
Ink: Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizzazz
Cardstock: Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
DSP: Quatrafancy, Gingham Garden
Punch: Bird Builder, Pansy, Blossom
Embellishments: Brights Buttons, In-Color Buttons, Brights Candy Dots
Other: White Gel Pen

I totally love these bright happy flowers. The patterned papers are beautiful and I will really miss both the Quatrafancy and Gingham Garden papers when they retire next week!

Buttons and candy dots are the finishing touches this card needs. I also added some cute doodles too!

I layered up lots of the flowers for a really full effect - love it! I used the wing from the bird punch to make some large leaves. I also decided I wanted a little more body and texture so added some curly twirly sprigs too!

For a smaller little flower in the centre of the pansy flower I cut the petals apart and layered four of them on top to make a smaller flower. The button just covers up the joins in the centre.

Right, I am off to have a run. I'm back to trying to get through the couch to 5k challenge. I feel like I've been lazy of late and really need to get into some exercise again.

Catch you again tomorrow,

Love-ly Spring-y

Hi there!

Happy Friday!!! This is my second day in London and another scheduled post for y'all! My friend Emma (who I am staying with) and I are hitting the art galleries today. Its been quite a while since I've been to galleries so I'm looking forward to reliving my student days and seeing some art!

Stamp Set: Happy Day, Language of Love
Ink: Melon Mambo, Island Indigo
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz
DSP: Gingham Garden
Punch: Postage Stamp, Small Curly Label, Small Heart
Other: White Gel Pen

I hope this card goes to show that the Language of Love set isn't just for "love" cards. With this colour combo, the card just screams spring!! I think this is just a bit of a different take on a spring card - generally we think of them as being very floral so I like this with the hearts.

This was actually a card we made back in January at card club - that was a while ago, huh? I thought I'd wait for Spring to come to show you this one though!

I think it really is the the Gingham Garden DSP that makes this so spring like. Its got to be one of, if not my favourite, paper of this year!

The dash dot is a cute touch that just adds a little extra finishing touch. I love this technique which is so easy and cheap to do and gives a great finished look.

Hope you enjoyed this. I'm back from London tonight so hopefully if I'm not too shattered and busy I'll have something new for you tomorrow!

One Layer Valentine

Hi there!

Really super quick post and card for you today. This is for the Paper Players Challenge, this week is a CAS One Layer Valentine.

Oh my, I was tempted to skip it as I wasn't very inspired but I thought I really should give it a go.

Stamp Set: Express Yourself
Ink: Melon Mambo
Cardstock: Whisper White
DSP: Gingham Garden
Big Shot: Hearts a Flutter
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds
Extra: Essentials Paper Piercing Pack

Now I couldn't quite decide if this was cheating or not. It was a one layer challenge so I've only used one layer on the front but added a piece of DSP for the colour inside the card. Thinking on it now I probably should have stamped the section inside the card but I couldn't find anything just like what I wanted! Oh well, its sort of one layer. (and it does look lovely and crisp open withough the DSP showing too!)

Hope you're having a good week and stop back tomorrow for a bit more creativeness!
