happy weekend + courtney apple photography

I hope you all had a great week! Mine ended on a particularly fun note as I had the opportunity to work with the immensely talented food and lifestyle photographer Courtney Apple....

Courtney spent a day photographing my newly re-decorated house for some upcoming projects that we've been discussing. What a treat to have such an accomplished and talented lady come into my home and apply her creative eye to my various home design projects. It was very flattering, and I can't wait to share the results with you down the road. Until then, please make an effort to peruse her lovely website and blog, which are full to the brim with delicious eye candy!

I love seeing people's collections. And the collections that Herve Pierre, creative director for Carolina Herrera, has amassed are beyond delightful - stacks and stacks of iconic orange boxes, vintage designer hat boxes, and many more things that make my heart go pitter patter. Love, love, love...

Since I neglected to post my usual Tuesday Eye Candy this week, I thought I would leave you this Friday with these yummy interiors from Traditional Home magazine. The bathroom in particular is just beyond gorgeous! Hopefully these images might lend some colorful inspiration as you head into the weekend! Have a great one, everyone!

Happy Weekend + Mrs. Lilien

Here's hoping you all have the loveliest of weekends! I'm going to spend some time relaxing, and am looking forward to spending more time perusing the work of Mrs. Lilien. She's quite the stylist - I love her bright, girly, Palm Beach aesthetic shown in these fun images. Best of all is her wonderful blog over at Mrs. Lilien's Styling House. She puts together fantastic story boards and inspirational wardrobes for her oh-so-creatively imagined characters. The eye candy truly abounds!

Have a great weekend, and see you on Monday!

Kitchen Eye Candy

I usually gravitate towards sleek, white, carrera marbled-kitchens, bit I think this space has completely won me over. It's like the kitchen version of a glamorous vanity table, except instead of sparkling jewelry and chic little cosmetics cases we have gilded flower pots, antique trays and bottles of bubbly. I love the brass hardware, the glossy black counter tops and all the interesting stuff!

Sometimes I just want eye candy. And these details from Christian Lacroix's Spring 2009 couture show are the ultimate in that. The colors, textures and patterns always blow my mind...

Friday Eye Candy

Photobucket

Sometimes store displays are the most wonderful sources of design inspiration. This tableau found at Petulia's Folly (a shop here in Philadelphia) just bowled me over when I first glimpsed it! It's like the most perfect vintage-style mood board come to life. I could totally see someone basing their entire wedding design on this look.

To begin with, the color palette is amazing. Don't you love the pale turquoise wall paired with the bold bursts of red, hot pink and chartreuse, and the more subtle touches of black and creamy white? And I'm enamored by the texture and shine that comes from the feathers, fabric scraps and embroidered gloves.

On a more literal level, I'm thinking about how great this wall would be as an inspiration for a bulletin board in my house. Maybe over the bar in my living room, similar to the one shown here...

Can you think of other ways to use this display as inspiration for a creative project?
