Feel the sand between your toes

The bits and bobs to make this card have been sitting in a little basket on my desk for a while now but I finally got the Pro Markers going and here's Warren, on a day at the beach:
Grinning here - if that surfer doesn't get him then surely the wave will :)

I used:

- 6" x 6" square cream card stock

- a pre-printed 'Warren the Rabbit' circle from Craftwork Cards, coloured with Pro Markers. Yes, I did work the colouring round the flip flops and the background paper - and it is a spotted handkie knotted on his head too :)

- backing paper by Bo Bunny from the 'Barefoot and Bliss' collection

- sentiment stamp is a 'cling' one by Stampendous called 'Feel Sand'. Stamped onto a snippet of blue card with the end cut into a pennant shape

- flip flop buttons (from Hobbycraft) with the shanks snipped off and stuck onto the card using the glue gun

- Josy Rose nail heads

Although I've got some pennant dies, the sentiment was too chunky to use a die with, so to cut the V-shape I just measured the width of the strip of paper when it was trimmed to size and drew a vertical line about half that width away from the right hand end. A little dot in the centre of that line gave me the point at which to draw two lines to form the V-shape, out to each of the corners. A couple of snips, some gentle rubbing out and hey presto - a symmetrical V-shape.

The first time I've managed to do any crafting for several days too!

It seems like ages since I entered some different challenges so this card is for the following:

Passion for Pro Markers - Week 161 - At the Beach

Creative Card Crew - Challenge 16 - Under the Sea or On the Beach - this card is On the Beach but could end up as Under the Sea if Warren doesn't watch out!

Little Claire - monthly challenge #23 - Summer/Holidays

Anything Goes - Challenge 73 - Summer Days

Truly Madly Crafty - August Challenge - Summer Fun

I discovered how I thought it was a Bank Holiday here - my kitchen calendar shows all Bank Hols in very small print and I saw 'Summer Bank Holiday' but missed the word 'Scotland' when this visit was first mooted weeks ago!

Aloha!

I've had an 'Aloha' sentiment stamp here for ages, just waiting for the right stamp to appear - finally one did and this is what I made:
I do love the way the little Hula Kiddo's hips are working away :) It's another card that I had a load of fun making - those little flip flops are just sooo cute.

I used:

 - 6" x 6" square cream card stock - Stampendous cling stamp called 'Hula Kiddo', coloured with Pro Markers, including the background (I even tried to match the hibiscus flowers to the backing paper, although I've never seen a blue hibiscus in real life)

- plain backing card from the snippets folder and the papers are from the Bo Bunny 'Barefoot and Bliss' paper pack which I'm totally in love with right now

- yellow self adhesive ribbon from the ribbon box. Confession, I added it as the finished card looked out of balance - the horizontal strip of paper and the image were placed too low by yours truly

- orange/yellow flower came from Helena in a little parcel of goodies a while back and the brad was my own - and those dinky and totally adorable little flip flops are buttons, in a pack of five pairs from Hobbycraft, but I've spotted them on e-Bay as well - just with the shanks snipped off the back and stuck on using the glue gun

I'm gonna play along with the following challenges:

The Order of the Opus Gluei (this is a new one on me but the ladies who run the challenge seem to be a really fun crowd) - the current challenge is 'Where'd you get your sun tan'

Crafty Calendar Challenge - Fun In The Sun (another challenge that's new to me)

also, The Squirrel and the Fox - Kids or Babies (well, she's called Hula Kiddo and I think would be great for a young lady)

When Len saw this card he said 'D'you know, that's just how you kick off your flip flops on the beach. I always feel the need to tidy them, mainly so I don't trip over them'.

Grin, this could be one to add to the 'soaping the shower tray' trick :))

Have a nice day!
