Crochet Pooh Bear

the prairie cottage: crochet pooh bear free pattern link

He turned out pretty cute! Not exactly like Pooh, but pretty close for a crochet version.

He was kind of time consuming to crochet, but not really too difficult. If you’d like to make your own, I used this pattern on Ravelry for Pooh himself and his red sweater.  I used 2 strands of dark brown yarn to embroider the face.  A picture of Pooh from a book was my guide for placement of his features.

Pooh is ready to take up residence in my newest grandbaby’s nursery :)

Happy crocheting!!

Yellow + Gray Blankets

Yellow & Gray Twin Blankets

These pretty blankets were special ordered by a proud auntie… of twins!

I think her idea is GENIUS -

Both blankies are yellow and gray, but one blanket is granny squares:

Yellow & Gray Granny Square Blanket

and the other is a hexagon blanket:

Yellow & Gray Hexagon Blanket

They coordinate and are so similar, yet each baby will have their own special blanket!

Aren’t they pretty together?

Gray & White Chevron Blanket… With a Train!

Hi friends! Just wanted to show you this chevron afghan I recently shipped to a sweet baby boy in North Carolina.

Crochet Chevron Baby Blanket {puddintoes}

I can’t take credit for the design idea… This was a custom piece for a very excited new grandma, made to match her grandson’s nursery!

Gray Chevron Baby Blanket {puddintoes}

You can look for a few more chevron baby blankets soon.  I really love the gray and white chevrons and stashed a few more design ideas in my sketchbook.

Gray and Orange Tractor Blanket

Did you know that I take custom orders for both my Etsy shops?

Just finished making a custom blanket for a certain sweet nephew…

085

His auntie wanted a gray, orange and white colorway with a tractor….

084

I’ve never crocheted a tractor before and it took a few tries to get a pattern worked out.

082

I have to say I LOVE these colors together!

086

So convo me if you would like a custom item from one of my shops… PuddinToes or thePrairieCottage  :)

Meet My Peeps. . .

We are headed to Green River today to see Jared and Sara’s new house!

But I wanted to show you a couple new things at the Prairie Cottage:

Meet my peeps!

I changed the bunny applique I use on baby shoes in my PuddinToes shop and made them into a garland!

MUCH better (and cuter) than the marshmallow kind ;)

Every spring I collect everyone’s discarded plastic Easter eggs and upcyle them.  This year, I used antique piano music to fancy them up:

I love their sepia tones. . . even better than tea dyed!

Have a blessed Wednesday :)

A little update

We’ve been living a little crazy here the last couple weeks.
My boy’s been playing varsity baseball this fall…
and
also filling in for the JV when they are short.
That means driving to from WY to CO for his games X2 and it’s been a challenge to balance homeschool, work and Etsy!
I do have a few updates for you.
I’m down to the last, lonely pumpkin runner
punkins 004
I scored a whole bolt of this fall homespun!  It’s SO hard to find orange fabric… one that isn’t bright “Halloween” orange and more “pumpkin-ish”!  But now that my bolt of pumpkin-orange is finished, I can’t get more until next year when the fall fabrics return :(
The turkey hats have been flying out to their new homes, but there are still a few left.

The pumpkin knot hats have been restocked.

And there are more candy corn booties and candy corn knot hats, as well.

 Happy Thursday!

What’s new…

The turkeys are back!

  wIMG_3726

Thanks so much to Kristin Staples Photography for the adorable photos!!!  So sweet.  Couldn’t you just eat.them.up!?!

wIMG_2416

Want to make your own turkey hat??  Use a simple cloche/beanie pattern from Ravelry or Crochet Central.  Add a magic circle turkey… some French knots…. and ribbon feathers… voila!

Don’t have time to make your own?  There’s a whole flock of turkeys over at Puddintoes

What’s new

I’ve been busy finishing up several crochet projects over the last couple weeks.  My hands have trouble keeping up with all the ideas my head thinks up!
The yarn stash is overflowing.  It seems no matter how carefully I plan my yarn purchases, I end up with a lot of THESE babies:

Oh, they’re cute enough.  But eventually you have too many and the roly-poly little things become hard to contain!
So I’ve been experimenting with projects designed to use up these small amounts of yarn.  (You know. So I can buy MORE).
Heather gray hexagon lap throw:

There are lots of hexagon patterns at Ravelry and Crochet Central.  Just be sure to try the join-as-you-go method at Attic 24.  Oh my word!  It’s much more pleasant than sewing them together!
Square in a square granny afghan:
il_fullxfull_262792293
Just sort of figured this square out as I went.  There may be something similar at Ravelry or Crochet Central.  This one was more frustrating to put together… I tried and tried, but couldn’t get the join-as-you-go method to work for these squares.  So there’s that.
And I’m loving these pennants/banners/garlands/whatever-you-call-them…  I hang them on my deck railing and change them out for the seasons/holidays.  So sweet.  They are really fun for using up the last little bits and bobs of yarn:

What do you make from your yarn stash?

What’s new?

June 2011 014

I just added the cutest little Mary Jane baby shoes with tiny bows.  More colors to come, but I’m starting off with this pretty honeysuckle pink.

June 2011 025

Same sweet Patch-the-puppy baby shoes, in fun new colors!

June 2011 012

I’ve had several requests for the cowboy cowgirl booties in pink for little princesses.  I’ll eventually make them in an all pink version, as well.  You know.  In my abundance of spare time. ;)

Well, I’m off to search for a new-to-me car!  My car has been in the shop for repairs off and on since last December and has finally died for good.  We’ve not  been totally carless (my teenage daughter has a car)… but it’s really a hassle getting everyone where they need to go with one car!  I’d so appreciate your prayers to find a reliable used car!!

Have a blessed week, my friends!

Bunny ears

I think they’ll soon be coming out of MY ears!
il_fullxfull_227358435
My bunny ear napkin rings are surprisingly popular this year. . . I can barely crochet them fast enough :)
il_fullxfull_227358437
Just listed 2 more sets and they’re ready to cutify their new Easter home.
