Bump in the Night

Cutting it fine to enter this month's Gecko Galz challenge but I managed it! Hurrah!! Sadly other things have got in the way today, more on that later on in the week.

Anyhoo, managed to pull together a 6x6 card for 'Bump in the night' I loved this image as soon as I saw it last year, just waiting for the right make to happen.

It looks sepia, but its actaully black/white with a bit of grey. Though I do like the colour of the photo better to the actual card! It is a card but I made it look like a cover of a book, or a journal of some kind, maybe the 'gentleman' on the front?? The tales of his far away travels on this planet, but like a creature of habit, he always returns to where he was.......... buried.

Ooops!

With not much time left to enter a Vintage Valentine challenge, I decided to do a tag (which will later be turned into a topper for next years Valentines day).
Over at the Gecko Galz hang out on Facebook  one challenge was red & pink and another was to use Heather Hudson's freebie design sheet..... So yesterday afternoon I printed the sheet off and set too. This morning I faffed and fiddled with various layouts, bits of ribbon, lace, pearls and hearts till I came up with something along the lines of want I wanted. Out came the glue.

Sorry its a bit dark but the lighting isn't very good.

I fussy cut the girl out the middle of the heart, then cut the border of the heart out so each was a standalone image.

At the last minute I decided to go mad and totally cover the heart border with pearls, happy with the effect. Then i decided to use clear nail varnish on the rose to make it look a bit dewy. This needed two coats to give it the finished effect i wanted.

Ta-da, finally finished.

Went to upload my tag and realised I'd forgot to add an actual Gecko Galz image. Duh!!

Oh well, I really enjoyed making the tag - and that's what counts.

Garden of Dreams

The monthly challenge over at gecko galz is Garden of Dreams, it was hard to pick an image as there were so many lovely images to choose from.

In the end, I picked this Sunflower one, as sunflowers would be in my garden of dreams, I tried growing them but they don't seem to like me, plus bee's -  we should all have some bee friendly flowers in our gardens. Sarah Raven website is a good place to go and buy/get ideas & tips/recipes. Plus the words 'beautiful colours' - sums up gardens in general.

mothers day card

Mothering Sunday is this weekend in the UK. Sunday 6th, so I needed to make a card for Delia.

And shock!horror! going doily free for this.

baking paper - Gecko Galz 'Coquette' design kit paper no5
image - Gecko Galz 'Victorian Spring' design kit icon no 20
old postcard
Wildfire wood white pearls
Lace
flower lace
hobbycraft small white posy
encore metallic ink in bronze
pigment ink in black
Xcut corner punch

Using CAP2, I resized the backing paper to fit a card slightly smaller than A5 and then sized the image. Printed out, cut out and then fiddled with the design till it ended up as you see in the finished project. I choose a blank backed postcard and then rounded the edges using my corner punch. I smudged both inks over it to make it look a bit shabbier, did the same with the image as the whiteness was too much against the other colours used. I stuck the postcard down, then lay the lace over and then finally glued the image down. Everything else was then stuck down.
The sentiment was done in CAP2 also, colour matching the blue from the little girls bow.

Hope Delia likes it as much as I do.
