a faery place

...my garden is a faery-like place - as much so, as a garden created by human hands can be - and with Mother Nature's help, of course...

...not that it was intentionally created to be a faery space. Nevertheless, it is full of wonders, magic and pixie dust...

... angel's wing...

...heavily cascading boughs of roses...

...bumblebees wearing pollen pants in just the colour of the apricot roses...

...bird's nests...

...myriads of tiny wild strawberries...

...and tangy red currants, glowing like rubies in an ocean of emerald...

...magical mirrored spheres...

...this is just a glimpse - maybe more next time...

Do you want to see? The Last Days of Summer

I have been posting teasers of work in progress. I have a couple of things kinda-sorta finished. Although I am not sure that I might still have to tweak them a bit. But since alot of you have been so kind as to say you want to see the pieces - well - here is the reveal. I started these before Fall officially arrived and I was thinking about those last precious days of summer - and dragonflies - and this is what my crazy hands came up with:

Translucent resin/tissue paper wings and labradorite beads and fresh water pearls form a lariat style necklace. These wings are extremely light weight and delicate. Almost like the real thing...

These are more transparent, as there is vintage lace enclosed in resin in these wings. Sari silk ribbon, vintage lace and vintage buttons (dyed some of them myself) combined with fresh water pearls, carved MOP rose bead and some ethereal light blue beads that I received from Sharon! (Thank you again, Sharon. Do you by any chance remember which stone this is? Maybe amazonite?) This is a longer necklace.

Another view.

This last one is more colourful - like a summer's day at the beach. And yes, I have seen dragonflies at the beach! These are opaque with my typical ink and stamping on both sides, sealed with resin. Combined with a delicious mix of glass beads in corresponding colours. This one is shorter.

Not sure they are completely finished. Maybe just a little something here or there, for some added interest.
Hope they were worth waiting for.

Work in progress teaser

Fall equinox. So fall is officially here. I am still thinking about the last days of summer and they are turning into a piece of jewelry. Here are a couple of teasers of the work in progress.

Hopefully, I will have a finished piece to show soon.

These are the days of roses ...

It's been going round and round in my head. Although the song line actually goes "...those were the days of roses, of poetry and prose and ..." - a favorite song of mine from Tom Waits. But now that temps are back up around 20° and the sun has remembered where I live - everything in my garden is trying frantically to catch up. Which means, everything will explode into bloom at once and then it will be all over. Sigh.
The last winter we had was bad for my garden. I lost about 10 rose bushes and half a dozen clematis.

But these are the days of roses - won't you join me in the garden?

Love the way the light comes through the blooms here!

I hope the sun is kissing you, where ever you are!

Today is summer

It is warm today! Well actually, it is hot and most of all, humid. We will have rain again tomorrow and on Saturday the temperature will drop to a high (!) of 15°C (thats 59°F). I kid you not!
So, in celebration of summer (today), I give you butterflies!

Isn't this little guy cute?

This guy did not want to show me his wing spread. I took about 25 pictures and most of them were blurry.

Gotcha!

A little tattered and torn...

Oops! Not a butterfly! But working hard to get at that nectar!

These are sooo beautiful! Wings are deep dark brown on the outside and look like bark.

Is this one a butterfly? or a faery?...

Summer earrings

These are a couple of simpler earrings I just made, trying to capture a summer mood. These matte glass beads remind me of beach glass. I just love those little vintage brass flowers!
