A little catch-up

Hi PC3, SusieQT here from Practice in Time!

I haven't had a lot of time to post here, but I'm still on the hunt! I've had some pretty good luck in spots and some terrible luck in others. (Like today- drove 35 miles and came home empty-handed...) But, you win some, you lose some, and you'll never win if you don't play the game!

I got very lucky in the Pyrex/vintage glass department, and that always makes everything better! I found this charcoal snowflake divided dish with lid- it's my first piece of black snowflake found ITW. The only other piece I have is a space saver I bought on ebay. It's in mint condition and I love it!

Can you believe I found a piece of Fry glass at the pound store? Yep, a Fry oven glass pie plate with a 1915 date stamp for about 50 cents! I think it was $0.89/lb, LOL. I have enough pie plates right now (even tho this is sooo pretty) and no oven to bake them in, so this one will be for sale I think.

I also found these Hazel Atlas pretties in the discount room of a different thrift- 25 cents each! Two dinner plates and two cereal bowls. I have mixed these in with my Pyrex turquoise band dinnerware and they look amazing!

I found this Spring Blossom 2 473 the other day. I am not a big fan of the original SB, but the redesign is really growing on me. I like the small flowers! I might hold on to this one for a while to use in my spring display; I don't have a lot of green except for lime. The little chalkware duck was so cute, I picked him up for 50 cents.

I found another space saver! This is actually my second Golden Pine SS found in the wild. It's in much better condition than the first one, so I will be holding onto this one and selling the first. I love this design- it's a combo of atomic and nature, so it speaks to me. ;)

I counted up all the space savers I have found ITW and believe it or not, I've found 7, including a starburst and a rooster (with lid and cradle). I don't think I'm any more lucky than anyone else, just persistent, so they are out there, keep looking!

I Dream of Pyrex

Hi PC3, SusieQT here from Practice in Time!

I know you all will understand this- and probably no one else will!

I dream about Pyrex. I had a dream where I was looking for the charcoal Snowflake space saver and I went to this underground flea market (I know, weird) and saw it, but couldn't buy it.

Anyway, ever since then I have been obsessed with finding that Snowflake piece. I went to all the local thrifts, and didn't find it. You can probably guess where this is going...

I ended up buying it on eBay. I just couldn't stop thinking about it, and had to have it. The great thing about eBay is you know it will be available. The bad thing about that is that you really can't get a good idea of the condition. Sometimes it's hard to tell from a photo if a piece has been run through the dishwasher (and I have seen plenty of those on eBay- it makes me laugh at the seller's descriptions- 'marbled'? 'rustic'? LOL- as I'm crying inside for the poor Pyrex.) That, plus the risk of shipping something breakable makes it a bit too much of a chance for me sometimes. But like I said, I was obsessed!

So I bit the bullet and actually won an auction for this one. It's the smaller (shallow-er) of the space savers. Up until now, I didn't know they came in two sizes. I have to say I'm liking the shallow ones, because I can stack more of them in limited space ;). I paid $11.50 for it, which isn't too bad I guess, but certainly more than I would have paid in a thrift store. It was in absolutely mint condition, and arrived safely. Win!

While I was browsing through eBay, I also decided I wanted to buy the Butterprint butter dish. I have been looking for this in the wild for years and never seen it. I hate giving up on the hunt, but I have a feeling I'll never find it. (Of course, watch me find it in the next couple of weeks.) I put in a bid and then got caught up in my excitement of winning the snowflake and completely forgot that I had bid on the butter dish.

Well, surprise! I won that too. Also in mint condition, thank goodness.

So my dream came true in a roundabout sort of way...

It makes me really happy to look at my new pieces and I am sleeping better at night. :)

i enjoy hand-washing dishes when...

My counter looks like this when I'm done! :D

Also, I've been day dreaming about a set of pyrex flashcards... you know, to see how quickly I can name the patterns and bowl descriptions? #christmaswishlist ;)

JAJ Pyrex

Just a little piece I'd like to share with you all!  I picked this little beauty up from one of my husband's tattoo clients in NC. He knows I really like Pyrex (what an under statement! haha) and shipped it to me! So very kind of him, and I absolutely love it! I'll be posting a little update on my collection later today on my blog, so be sure to check for that! I hope everyone has a great weekend :)
