Houston, Texas' 1070 AM KENR started out in the late 1960s as a 5,000-watt daytimer. Five years later they were a 24 hour operation with 10,000-watts during the day and became a hugely successful Country station through the rest of the decade. In 1982 they shifted to a short-lived "Country Gold" format, then News/Talk as "The Radio Magazine" and finally changed call letters to KRBE in 1983.
