It's April! Fairy Jar! Freebies!

 Hello Friends!

It's April!

Yes!
And my across-the-street neighbor's front yard looks like this:

Flowers everywhere!
Even window shopping at the mall:

Yes, I have been doing a little creating as well as window shopping.  :)

Spring is peak season for fairies, as they are out and about in the garden.
I have always wanted to capture one and keep her forever in a jar.
But that wouldn't be nice.
So I made this little fairy in a jar to keep me company:

I used a mix of mosses, papery flowers, mushrooms, butterfly wings
and a Dresden pink crown.  And lots of fairy dust!
I covered the jar lid with some burlap trim to keep the woodsy look.
Added more moss and a nest and little birdie on top.

Here are a few freebies with an April Showers theme:

Altered Frame, Altered Matchbox Chest of Drawers

Hello Friends!

I have a couple of projects I made for swap partners in
my Marie Antoinette Mail Art group to share with you.

Both of these projects were ventures in new waters for me.

First up is a vintage frame which I bejeweled
with charms, jewelry bits, some fired clay flowers,
and some "antiqued" charms that I love,
which I bought at Vintage Marketplace.
I loved the shape and antique brass look of this frame,
and wanted to keep the embellishments "toned" down,
so as not to take away from the frame, but enhance it.
But I did want a few bright sparkly bits :)
Along the bottom of the frame is a chain with alternating rhinestones and pearls.

I will show you the beautiful frame I received from Laura next post.

This next project is a chest of drawers made from 10 matchboxes!
I have always wanted to try my hand at making one of these ever since
I saw the beautiful ones Laura made for Alpha Stamps.
Here's the 360 tour:

My partner for this swap is Lisa, and I happen to know that peach is her favorite color,
so I thought this paper was perfect, with coordinating papers for the drawers.
The drawers were the trickiest part.
The drawer pulls were made by threading a rhinestone drop on a loop pin,
threading through a beadcap and through a tiny centered hole in the drawer front,
adhering to the front with a little dab of E6000
and threading a silicone pierced earring back to pin in the inside of the drawer
(also with a dab of E6000).  Whew!
The little perfume bottles are made from beads, so fun!

The picture is not of Marie Antoinette, but rather Mme. de Pompadour,
a great beauty and mistress of Louis XV.

I did love making this project, but it is a lot of steps
and working with some teeny tiny pieces.
I may make a few more as I do love the finished product,
and finding tiny things to put in the drawers was so fun!

Spring! Bunnies! Chicks! Freebies!

Hello Friends!

It's Spring!!

I’m so ready, we’ve had a cold and unusually wet winter here.
Yes, when I say cold I mean in the 50s, but still.

But, cold outside means staying home and getting some crafting done!

I love making these exploding boxes,
really a scrapbook in a box!
When you lift the lid off, the sides fall open to reveal the pics inside!
They're such great gifts, I've given them with the pics already pasted inside,
and also with the insides empty for the giftee to paste in.
My BFF Brenda's daughter recently had a baby girl, Emma,
and I made this box for  her:

Hope she likes it! :)

Altered egg cartons are so much fun for Easter!
I made a few last year,
and again this year for a swap I was in.
I decided to go with a garden theme:

I used burlap, moss, a minature garden glove, a bit of fencing,
paper flowers and butterflies, crepe paper,
and a small clay pot that I painted white and then sanded down.
I forgot to take a picture of the inside :(
I had so much fun making this!

And I am in a Fairy/Children Tag Swap
hosted by JoAnne of Vintage Dragonfly.

I've also been making some Easter Whimsies and Collage Sheets
for my Etsy shop:

Hop on over and take a peek!  :)

Also want to leave you with some freebies for your Easter crafting:
