Why I Am NOT A Fan of YouTube

Does anybody remember another pile of Cyber Goat Custard called AOL?
There was censorship & Chit Chat in the chat rooms, monitored constantly by Community Leaders, who had Free Accounts.
Freedom Of Speech was not really tolerated.
And weird people did come to these rooms.
Sounds a lot like You Tube today.
Now, You Tube is censoring the slightest scintilla of Music in Liturgical Celebrations, by forcing re-dubs of authentic events. The events lose their authenticity, under the guise of Copyright Infringement. Since when did The Catholic Liturgy become a Commercial Broadcast?
The "You" disappeared from You Tube. It is not about You, anymore.

With Vimeo App 2.0 The Music Choice Is Much Greater

For the recent production of "XL-A Priest's Journey Towards A Major Anniversary", I was surprised to see a Gregorian Chant Piece called "O Bone Jesu" by C. G. Reissiger. I used to think of Vimeo as Home of Independent Artists, as if all are Rock Musicians.
Well, I was wrong. And The Gregorian Chant Piece is the Opening & Closing Theme for The Coverage of a Catholic Priest's 40th Anniversary Celebration. It works beautifully with the coverage.
But, if I was to attribute this piece as Royalty Free Music, You Tube, possibly making trouble for Religious Programming because they may be trying to crack the Azerbaijan Video Viewing Market, along with Tajikistan & North Korea, might just censor the video coverage. They may as well take "You" out of their name, if they don't respect Freedom Of Faith. & of Speech.
Hence, I prefer Vimeo, DailyMotion & Blip. At the very least, Freedom Of Faith is respected. Ditto, Speech! And the three aren't banned in as many countries as You Tube is. Freedom of Religion & Speech complement each other & You Tube respects neither one.

Dropping

It was long due to occur.
You Tube View #s have been dropping every month for the last several months. The World's Largest Pile of Cyber Junk, is losing on the average, 1B viewers per month.
Are people tired of "Piano Playing Cats?" Or is it the incredible lack of quality on the service?
Adding all that censorship by You Tube & viewers will go elsewhere. So will Producers. Eventually, Advertisers will think twice before heading to the service.
Besides, piling on to an oversized service means that, like Humpty Dumpty, there will be a Great Fall.
Sounds just like Old AOL To Me!

Blip & Vimeo For Documentaries

In March, 2010, I premiered my Blip. TV Show Page called "Lansdowne126-MMD Productions", & opened with a 5 Minute Documentary called "The Demolition Of Shea & Yankee Stadiums." It has proved to be quite popular on Blip. Blip has something in common with my opening my Vimeo page in that the same video opening Blip, also opened Vimeo. That 1st Vimeo Video is starting to get views after awhile,
That 1st Video was recorded entirely on a Samsung A737 Phone & Touched up with iMovie HD for Mac. The 1st Documentary looks primitive by today's standards, but it is being well received on both Blip & now on Vimeo.
The next documentary will be Catholic Related. It will begin in Richmond Hill & end in Forest Hills. It will cover how the Forest Hills Catholic Parishes came to be.
This will be on Blip & Vimeo. I would not have it any other way.

DailyMotion To Be Companion Network To Vimeo, Artistically

It was March, 2011. The Vimeo iPhone App was finally released, just in time for the 2011 Knights Of Columbus Int'l Free Throw Basketball Championship Long Island Final Coverage.
The Tactical Decision to designate Vimeo as Lead Network for this special coverage should come as no surprise. Vimeo, during Bonus Coverage of 2011 District Coverage, carried in HD 720p on DailyMotion & You Tube, actually knocked You Tube down to 3rd Place in coverage. I was not really surprised, as I have usually considered You Tube to be both subpar & overrated. Coverage was only appearing on You Tube because I was mandated to carry coverage there. DailyMotion cleaned You Tube's Clock during District 28 Coverage.
You see, DailyMotion had become the actual Main Network, as it had outdrawn You Tube, so much that You Tube had become irrelevant. The Queens County 2011 Championship was about to be webcast for the 1st & Only Time. This portion of Competition Coverage was no longer the purview of the Grand Knight nor District Deputy. DailyMotion was now the Exclusive Network for the 2011 Queens County Final.
This did not sit well with the Computer Illiterate Status Quo, which chanted You Tube as a Mantra, despite not really watching You Tube. Those who told me that You Tube is the only place for viewership, were the ones not even bothering to tune into any coverage. But, they whined when it was NOT on You Tube. They could have Googled, Binged or Yahoo'd 2011 Queens County Final Knights Of Columbus Int'l Free Throw Basketball Championship & found it on DailyMotion. The #s were a bit weak at 1st, but did grow steadily.
Bringing Vimeo into the picture as lead Network, turned a # of heads. The "Utter Pain In The Arse Washwomen From Queens" were making threats that coverage had better be on You Tube, not that it be watched, which it really was not, but it must go there because it is the ONLY thing that would be watched, but never even reached 100 Views. This was coming from people who may not be literate enough to read the NY Post.
On both Vimeo & DailyMotion, an announcement went over both services advising would be You Tube Viewers that You Tube Coverage would be somewhat limited, because of both the lack of interest in You Tube coverage, as well as the # of Bloholes who are clueless about Video.
Michael Meloni, Chairman of the Long Island Final, gave me clearance to carry coverage on services other than You Tube. Michael told me that NY State Council was interested in video services other than You Tube.
Coverage appeared on Vimeo, DailyMotion, Lockerz(VodPod), You Tube & Ireland's iVideo.ie.
DailyMotion was designated to carry coverage which couldn't be uploaded immediately to Vimeo. Hence, DailyMotion was the Companion Network. The iVideo.ie feed was Network Three. YouTube operated with VodPod as the feed. Without VodPod, YouTube would've had only 55 Views.
You Tube became irrelevant, but two sets of Parents gave me ultimatums for their children to be carried on You Tube. I reluctantly obliged.
As DailyMotion is the 2nd Largest Video Service, it turned out to accumulate viewers in Europe & North America. Vimeo is the Indie Network. Both Vimeo & DailyMotion are artistic services, so for DailyMotion being the Companion Feed, this works fine.

ShoZu App Quite Valuable

I bought this app, mostly for upload to DailyMotion, but it also uploads to Blip & other Social Media.
It uploaded rather quickly a video to Daily Motion. It also can be used to email video files.
Good App to have for multiple uploads!

The blip.tv 2011 K of C Free Throw Coverage Super Feed

It was January, 2011, when the plan to carry the Knights Of Columbus Int'l Free Throw Basketball Championship, was to occur. This coverage, comprehensive in scope, was going to be more than a 3 to 4 Minute Film on You Tube, the way 30 other jurisdictions in the Knights of Columbus usually would do this kind of coverage. This would cover action on the floor, by age group, shot from the rear angle to give the viewer the feel for how it is at the foul line.
As the owner of a mobile marvel called the Apple iPod Touch 4G, holding 32 GB of storage, it is an amazing mobile computer. The front camera is for Standard Definition Recording as well as for Face Time Communication, just like the iPhone. The rear camera is for High Definition Broadcast Quality Video, HD 720p, the broadcast standard for ESPN, A & E Networks & FOX. It would be during Knights of Columbus Int'l Free Throw Coverage that this iPod Touch 4G, would really be tested. It would be a test as plans for coverage intended to go via blip.tv, with Vimeo, VodPod & Facebook/Twitter, as the blip.tv super feed. A test run from Woodhaven, Queens, of a Free Throw Preliminary Competition, took place over You Tube & Vimeo. Let me say that You Tube is really a waste of time, with viewing #s which indicated to me that You Tube is overrated as a video sharing service. Finding that one of the competition videos had ended up on a Gambling Site, convinced me that You Tube is NOT the way to go. The blip.tv Super Feed Plan looked very good by comparison to An All You Tube occasion. Besides, video often looks like crap on You Tube. A Second Feed utilizing French Based Dailymotion, was also in the works as a test network.
Being a Past Grand Knight, who when I was Grand Knight of Msgr Sherman Council 5103, who experimented with new Council Programming, which had a degree of success, the blip.tv idea, complete with iTunes Download, was not conceived in a vacuum. As I had acted in Web Series and Indie Films, I learned from various, experimental young producers, that there is more than You Tube. When I made my acting debut in a web series called "Peripheral City"(Currently on Vimeo), my 1st Director introduced me to Vimeo & the rest is History.
But, due to the desire of the Grand Knight of Council 5103-East Glendale, Queens, to make nice with people in Parishes which compete in the competition, I was told that the competition was a "Must Carry" over that Censorship Laden Pile Of Horse Manure, You Tube, "For all those You Tube #s", which I was upset about, since I actually had experience with Real Producers & Directors, You Tube was added to keep the neighborhood happy. This empowered people, who I refer to as "The Utter Pain In The Arse Washwomen From Queens", who could be very whiny at times, who acted like Long Island North Shore Princesses at times(A little bit like someone I once dated from Great Neck). "You Tube" was their mantra. But, I was determined to carry this competition on the Blip Super Feed & Test DailyMotion as well. A test of well regarded Viddler was also in the works.
The Blip Super Feed was a lot of work, as Blip was Adobe Flash, not good for the iDevice crowd. But, I took the time to convert the video coverage to H.264 & set up the iTunes Download. I had hoped not to carry any You Tube Coverage, realizing that when Institution Heads listen to people who know nothing about the New Media instead of the Producer who actually knows this business, the Producer gets caught in all the crossfire from people who should mind their business, as that Producer actually realizes that his goal is to make for the best possible production. Having amateurs who spend their time second guessing the Producer, leads to conflict.
The Blip Feed had to compete with You Tube. The Blip #s would have been better, had it not been for certain people pleasing the masses. But the numbers were good, as was DailyMotion's initial #s. The Blip Super Feed came out of New York. Ditto, Dailymotion. Viddler had extremely small #s, though they did increase over 1 Year.
Vimeo became an Independent Feed with their own super feed. You Tube did well once, but those #s took a tumble by the District Round, where both DailyMotion & Vimeo demolished You Tube #s. In that You Tube did well for 1 Round, the Parents felt like they had a license to dictate coverage.
To those who told me that You Tube is the only coverage which would be watched, you're wrong. You Tube was a comparable flop, not worth my time then & not now.

In Regards To Dailymotion

It serves as my Alternate to Vimeo. You Tube is out of the question. Blip.tv has a purpose as well.
