Weekend Wrap-Up

Hello, my lovelies!
So glad your here!

I thought that I would give you a run down on a really fun and busy weekend!

As always, Friday kicks off the weekend.
I met "The Bride" (my girl) and we went over our
design idea for "the big project"! Then it was on to
Home Depot to get supplies and have the wood cut.
Those guys are so helpful!

We picked her colors and had the paint mixed. We then took all
of the supplies back to the house to get ready for a full Saturday.

Early Saturday morning we headed to the wedding venue to go over the
itinerary and make sure we have everything organized and ready to go
as far as the rentals, DJ, bar etc.
This picture was taken from the garage... It was the kind of day
that we are praying for on the 24th of November.

Then back to the house to work on "The Project".
We worked until 10:00pm but it all turned out perfectly!
I was amazed! I am dying to share the whole thing with
you .... but I promised I wouldn't. I will
later though. :)
It's so CUTE!

Sunday morning hubby and I made a unanimous decision to stay home from church.
I was gone all last weekend and he still had a lot of work left to do on a contract.
So I got the Chemex out and made a pot. During the week we use the
Keurig, but the weekends are perfect for the pour over!
LOVE it!

I also did all the updates on my computer. I put it off as long as I
could and just couldn't put it off any more. I hate doing them.
It takes forever and then there are always changes and things to
be re-learned. UGH!
Am I the only one that hates the updates?

Sunday afternoon included a little bit of gardening.
Fall really is like a second Spring here.
The roses are coming back, the winter grass is coming in....

and everything is blooming!

The weekend ended at Tutti Santi for a lovely
birthday dinner! I love this place.

I have a few things to share this week, so come back and check in!

Tea and a Chat

Hello my friends!
We've had another quiet weekend here.

I love it!
If "quiet weekend" were in the dictionary, there'd be a family photo of us.

As you can see, the first signs of fall are here.
Oh, P.S. did I mention....it's still 109 out.
The September issue of Victoria arrived.
I'll be sharing this with my friend Sandi when I'm done.
It is full of fig recipes.
And since she has fig trees... I think that will work. :)

I got a lot done on the little baby blanket I've been working on.

Just the border is left.

I'm also trying to finish Grapes of Wrath.
Now that I have gotten used to it.... I'm starting to like it.
Not what I expected for a classic.
More later. :)

Have a great week!

Can it be Sunday Night?!

Can you believe it? Sunday night already!

I do love my weekends. This one was no exception.
Saturday was spent shopping with my daughter looking for
wedding accessories. Who would have thought those
would be so hard to find?

She did find some cute Steve Madden rhinestone flat sandals to wear the
day of the wedding.  We also booked the wedding cake.

Friday I picked up this little project again.

I think I have about half of the squares done.

Sometimes when it is so hot outside it is nice just to sit in the
air conditioning and crochet.

Sunday after church we went and saw Persecuted.  It was
really good and I'm glad we saw it.

After we went to the book store and I found a copy of my
favorite magazine, Mollie Makes.

I LOVE this magazine! Have you seen it?
Every issue comes with a little project to make.
Isn't that so cute?

It is full of fun, funky, fresh ideas for crafters that are
short on time or just beginning.

See how easy it is to follow along? It makes me want to try.
Anyway, if you see it, you should pick it up.

So that's my Sunday night story.
I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and plan on
having a productive week.

What did you do this Weekend?

Hello my Lovelies!
Did you have a fabulous weekend?
I do hope so!

I got a lot done in my super fast 2 days.

I've joined a group of ladies that are doing crochet and various other forms of needle work. This has been a great move on my part!  It is so fun to learn from them and all their years of experience.

AND here's the best part. It isn't just all fun and crafts. ....Okay. Really it is!
But we are making beanies for the homeless. I have finished 9 myself.
We are trying to get 136 of them done to go into Shoebox Ministry gifts at Christmas time.

I am learning how to read a pattern and a new stitch. This is a good close up of it.
It is the alternating front post / back post stitch.

This has been an excellant way to use up all of the extra yarn that is sitting around.
I love it when things turn out to be FUN and INTENTIONAL!

I did get a little bored and thought I would try a new thing.
I made this pot holder. My mom's new kitchen is red and white so it will fit in perfectly.

I also got this drawer cleaned out. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I've committed to clearing out something EVERY weekend. I have not done it every weekend, but I have done quite a bit.
Including 2 big book cases and all 4 of the cabinets under the sinks (kitchen and bathroom).

Need to go thru the shoes.... ugh!
Such an exciting life we lead... sigh... such are the troubles of a first world citizen. :)

What are you working on?

Weekend Wrap-up

Ola! My Sweet Senoritas!
The week is off to a good start.
Just thought that I would share a couple of items from my weekend.
We had a lovely Father's Day! Husband watched all his favorites and we went to
lunch and the book store after church. He then took a well deserved 2 hour nap.

Here I am ready for work this morning... sipping my new fav tea... Bigelow's Vanilla Caramel...no cals... no carbs! I'm also wearing my newest little project. I picked up the magazine below and it came with the little kit to make the flower. I added the button.

I was tickled because this was the first real pattern that I have actually followed.
I usually eyeball and wing it. So I think I'm getting better... I'm sure it sounds goofy...
but I really love crochet! I can have a hideous day at work, come home, and fall into a project. It seriously is therapeutic for me.

Can you tell... I'm really trying to hone my Instagram skills. It is really a convenient application.  It works on Apple or Android phones.

I started another little .99 weekend project that I will share with you later this week.

I went to the shopping center north of our home to do a little shopping and to pop into the grocery store. These flowers were so tempting.... I'm looking at them now and kind of wishing that I would have picked them up.

But the coolest thing was that some group (I'm thinking a youth group of some kind) had taped postcards all over the shopping center. Everyone was encouraging or inspirational.
I just thought that was the most awesome thing ever!

It might have been just enough to get me over my fear and loathing of Monday morning!

What is The Best Time of The Week?

I think EARLY Saturday Morning.

It is the most calm and peaceful time of the week. It smells like coffee and toast!
When I was young, I would have chosen Friday night, for all the obvious reasons. Now, Friday after work I try to get home early and get my home clean, and smelling fresh so that I can enjoy it the rest of the weekend.
I still had four loads of this to do this morning...
but that is now done and I'm free to play!

There is going to be a little of this...

And a whole lot of this!

~*~
And have I mentioned? I'm supposed to have this read by the 4th Monday in August...

It's 1100 pages... Anyone have any ideas?
I'm really struggling getting into it.

Oh... and the other thing about about Saturday morning....
that second cup of coffee!
~*~
It's 12:30 and husband is taking his first nap of the weekend. :)  Sweet!
What about you all?
Do you have a favorite time of the week?
