All Things Magical and Mythical #74 Featuring Maria Mariposa from Art by MiRan

Good morning and welcome to today's All Things Magical and Mythical post. I can't believe today is the end of February! This year is flying by! For today's card I thought I would use one of my favourite images from Art by MiRan. I haven't used one of her images for a while. ABM was my first DT years ago and I was really sad when she decided to close the challenge down, but never mind, I still have all these gorgeous images to use!

And here she is in one of my favourite colour combos - aqua, yellow and black. I added lots of layers and lots of butterflies and totally love how this one came out!

Something Else on Saturday #90 Featuring #382 by Art by MiRan

Good morning and happy Saturday! I can't believe this is the last weekend of January already! And what a start to the new year it has been. Schools in the UK were closed to all but key worker and vulnerable children, so starting on Wednesday 6th January, I have been teaching lessons through zoom every day! This is a whole new way of teaching for me and not something I have ever been taught to do either, so I am still learning as I go! It's been fun, but hard work as well. And now the most recent announcement is that we probably won't be going back into schools until at least March!

Anyway...on to today's Something Else on Saturday card. This week I have been adding my card templates and stencils to my Evernote account and realised it has been ages since I dug one out and made a shaped card, so that was the plan for this card. I used a digi stamp from Art by MiRan that MiRan gave away on Facebook last year, but she doesn't have a name unfortunately, just a number #382. You can find this image in her etsy store here though. I need to use MiRan's images more - this was one of my first design teams and loved these images.

Something Else on Saturday #2 Art by MiRan Colouring Page

Good morning and welcome to another of my Something Else on Saturday posts. This week I am using one of the gorgeous new colouring pages from Art by MiRan. I used to be on her Design Team until she took a break from drawing to focus on having her baby, who is a gorgeous little girl now.

However, she has recently returned with a small colouring book and this is one of the pages from it. I resized it to an almost A5 sized image and coloured it using my Copics. It took a while to do but it turned out so beautiful I think, that it was well worth it! (Why does my sky always look horrible when I photograph it, though?! It looks so much better in real life!)

This colouring is also for

Art By MiRan Goodbye Post

Good evening everyone. It is with a very sad heart that I have to write this post! Mi Ran has decided to take a break from her Art by MiRan digital stamp work to concentrate on other projects and has therefore decided to close both the Art by MiRan Facebook group and the Art by MiRan blogs.

I have been part of the Facebook team from the beginning, when it was just me on my own-some and started hosting the monthly challenges. Together with Jackie, we also started the Progressive Challenge which has just completed its 2nd year. I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this team and seeing it grow from just a couple of entries to almost 30 every month. Some of you lovely ladies have joined in every month and I really do enjoy seeing what you create with the gorgeous images every month.

So I now give a huge thank you to Mi Ran for inviting me for joining her team over 2 years ago, to Jackie Randolph for helping me learn the ropes as the Facebook Team Coordinator, to Bonnie, Liz, Melanie, Pauline, Gloria and Silvia for being part of the team, to the rest of the Art by MiRan Design Team for being fabulous friends and to all our guest designers and challenge entrants for making the last two years or so an absolute blast!

Here is my final card as a goodbye and thank you. This card is dedicated to everyone I mentioned, but mostly to Mi Ran for her friendship, love and faith in me! I will so miss being part of your team, Mi Ran, but I know I have made such a fabulous friend in you and we will always stay in touch! From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

The Craft Box Let It Snow Canvas Trilogy

Good afternoon and welcome to my second project using the December Craft Box. In the mad run up to Christmas I completely forgot to do this project and then found these 3 small 7 x 5 inch canvases when having a tidy up of some old crafting stuff and knew what I wanted to do with them straight away.

Using a mixture of baby blue, pearl ice blue and blanc acrylic paints, I painted a random background before adding some snowflake die cuts along the edges and corners and then covered all the edges with Snowtex to give each canvas a snowy texture.

I added lots of goodies from the December Christmas Craft Box including the Christmas Tree Sniparts and that gorgeous snowflake Snipart frame, both of which I painted white. I used the snowflake glass stickers in each corner and then added lots of the beaded snowflakes and gems everywhere.

On the centre panel I added the gorgeous Snowflake Suzanne from Art by MiRan, also adding some Snowtex around her. I added some of flowers, pine cones and berries to this canvas as well, covering them all again with more Snowtex. I love that stuff!

I then finished off each canvas using lots of Stickles glitter on all the die cuts,, just to make it really sparkle and although you can't see it well in the photos, the shimmer from the paint and the sparkle from the gems and glitter glue make this project really shine. These will look fabulous as part of my Christmas/winter decorations.

Art by MiRan Facebook Challenge Anything Goes for November

Good evening everyone and welcome to my DT post for the new challenge from the Art by MiRan Facebook team. I was running really late with this card as I actually thought I had made one already until I looked in the events page I had set up in our DT group and realised that the card I was thinking of was last month's! Ooops, so a couple of evenings this week, I coloured the image and then made the card. I rarely craft during the week as I am either too shattered from work or am working at home marking books instead. Luckily this week has been a little easier on marking for me!

Anyway here's the card I made using the gorgeous Winnie with her delicious cup of hot chocolate! I coloured her up in my current fave Christmas combo of red, white and brown and added some new digital papers that I bought from an etsy store the other day. They were on offer and costs me about 82p a pack, so a bought a few packs! They print so beautifully as well, so were a good purchase!

Art by MiRan Sponsors Passionate Paper Creations

Good Morning and welcome to an extra DT post from me for Art by MiRan. This weekend Art by MiRan are sponsoring the Facebook group Passionate Paper Creations run by the lovely Rhea Weigand, who is an amazing colourist! If you are not a member of the group, do pop on over there for heaps of colouring tips, ideas and inspiration as well as popping in to the Art by MiRan group for all your Art by MiRan inspirations too.

There is a colouring contest going on this weekend using this gorgeous image, Asteria, and I had a little play with her too. You can purchase her for 50% off this weekend only!

And here is my version...I loved the background that MiRan had created in her digital sample and tried to use a similar effect with my Copics, using my blender pen to pick up the colour and mix it all together. Her hair is just gorgeous but my pens were really playing up (I think I have been using them a bit too much recently!) so they didn't quite flick the way I wanted but hopefully it all looks ok!

Art by MiRan Facebook Group August Challenge Anything Goes

Good afternoon and welcome to my DT post for new challenge at the Art by MiRan Facebook group. As always our second challenge of the month is an anything goes challenge, as long as you use an Art by MiRan stamp, which can also include the rubber stamps from Whimsy Stamps. Our optional theme this time is Back to School/School Colours.

My school colours are royal blue, which I don't really like to use on my cards, so instead I used a school themed image and made myself a new pen holder for my desk at work using the gorgeous Box Art Baroque template from Dutch Doobadoo. I used the adorable Bookaholic Kaite and coloured her up in browns with a touch of pink.

And here she is. I kept the box fairly simple using some of my new papers from Anna Marie Designs. I inked all the edges with Crumb Cake and then Chocolate Chip inks for a slightly distressed look.

And here it is all filled in with some random pens. You can't see it, but I added a piece of card as a divider in the middle as all my pens slid down when I added them. This held them up a lot better.
