Springtime .... Time to Spread Your Wings!

Hey Chickie!

Time to fly the coop?

This morning I woke up and

1) felt good (health issues at bay)
2) was home (not that usual of late)
3) had nothing urgent on the calendar (hurray!)
4) realized I had not been to any sales this year
(the 4 Friends Preview doesn't count!)

So .... I did what any chick would do ...
Spread my wings!

Road Trip, Baby!

Well, not a REAL road trip involving overnight stay or driving more than 60 miles from home ... but enough of a road trip to energize my psyche and make for a fun day.

First Stop?
Harris Farms Spring Sale.

(they are open tomorrow, too!

Enjoyed the drive out of the city
and LOVED the items for sale.

Especially emjoyed
the spring florals touches ...

mmm mmm mmm!

Even though they are faux
don't you
LOVE
the moss and white tulips
in this set of bed springs?

While there I chatted with
Natalie - "Sparrow"
about
sales - what we were buying
soldering - she invited me over to practice
and SWEETS!

She will be making some of her
luscious goodies
for Cindy's next barn sale!
I understand they sold out pretty fast at the last sale ...

I'm just sayin' ...

being an early bird to get one
of Natalie's mini-cakes
is MUCH better than
getting up for a worm!!

Next Stop?
IKEA!  Always good for a pick-me-up!
(Must have their frozen yogurt!)
Bought a Benno DVD cabinent for studio storage.

Hmmm ... Where Now?

M O N T I C E L L O !!

First up was Cindy's front window.
As only the Queen of Tarte
can do!

A little chippy ...
a little funky ...

And a whole lot of
glamour and FUN!

Headed to the side room with the
spring sale.

A bunch of chickies
were gabbing about the sale.

Lots of
HUMAN chickies, too!

I bought a frame from Julie
Kindred Roses
(she should just set up at MY HOUSE!!)

oops ... no pics!

As I meanered around I saw
so many of my faves ...

Randy, ... AF&A, ... and Aleta

She is one talented gal!

Around one corner I saw just what
I NEEDED!

Seriously!

The 2 perfect salad plates
in Rose Chintz
were REQUIRED to come
home with me.

They are my everyday china!

Then I fell in love.
This mini greenhouse
was calling my name.

I blew a kiss and walked away.
Time to head home when you
want a greenhouse for your
driveway!

Well ...

Seemed like enough fun
and it was getting late,
so I didn't give into my wild child
and hit any Goodwill stores
and other thrifts on the way home.

When Mr. Sammy Girl came home
we headed out to dinner and
capped our evening with a bit of shopping at Nordy's.

Yes, the house is still a mess
and laundry needs to be done.

But this chicky NEEDED today.

I laughed,
I smiled,
visited with friends,
shopped,
listened to Mr. Sammy Girls' stories ...
and feel rejuvenated!!

Hugs and here's to a day doing just what you want with people who encourage you to spread your wings!

TRIVET WISDOM - and Chesterfields - lol!

When you
least
expect it ....

words of wisdom

come

unbidden

into your brain.

Where does that
advice
come from?

Sometimes
scripture

or
mom's
litany of admonitions ...

but sometimes it's from
grandma's
kitchen trivets!

my gramma's trivets
had "sayings"

YOU KNOW ....

"No matter where
I serve my guests
It seems they like
my kitchen best"

Ain't

THAT

the truth!

This time of year
grammy's kitchen
laughs with me ....

The Hurrier I GO ...
The Behinder I Get!

you too?

Well

if you missed
Vintage Christmas Monday

it's
not to late to
visit

JOAN

and list of participating blogs.

There is such
VINTAGE VARIETY!!

Beautiful displays ...

Like this one from

A less PC image ...

TRUE CONFESSION

I have been wanting
a Chesterfield

for quite some time.

Without
Ronnie's coaxing.

This is the one I'm crazy for ...

Don't you want one too?

Hugs and take a moment from your busy hustle and bustle to share a laugh!

White Wednesday -- Keeping SPIRITS White lol!

Ahhh!
the sweet fragrance of
paperwhites
for the holidays.
Time to get started!

Now you

need a drink!

Well,

not you, exactly ...
your paperwhites
need a drink!

REALLY!

Studies at Cornell University
show
that paperwhite bulbs
forced to bloom

and forced to drink alcohol
are shorter
and less floppy

with no loss of bloom size.

"When bulbs are planted in

early December,

they will flower in 4 to 6 weeks

with seldom a miss."

Plant now in time for

CHRISTMAS
or
NEW YEARS!!

CHEERS!

Hugs and have a wonderful White Wednesday.

Pink Saturday - Cowgirl Style!

Come with me

and dream

of being

a cowgirl.
Or spoiling your own little cowgirl ...

Where to shop?

Only one place ...

Now - honestly -

what gal

(western-type or not)

doesn't love a store that has a
BARGAIN CAVE??
Here's the store

where we

stock up on

Cowgirl basics

Like your six shooter
Or maybe

a matched set?
Not pearl handled.

But that can wait until her
16th birthday, lol!
Maybe you want something
for the princess who is a
hunter and tracker ...
And nothin' says

"I Love You"

more than a pink

Kentucky Long Rifle.

Right?
Unless it's a pink shotgun

to go duck hunting.
The kind of ducks that

"nerfs" get ...

(Great for Oregon State fans
as the Ducks of
the University of Oregon
are rivals ...)

Heck!

Pink Princess
love
knows no bounds ...

add the crossbow
(and compound bow not pictured)
and she'll have a whole

arsenal!
Yep ...

Our little cowgirl

will be able to handle

ANYTHING

life can throw at her

and bring home
the venison, too!

When it's time for the
sweet thang
to relax?

Why just a little fishin' ...
Everything a
pink princess cowgirl
might want!

Hugs and remember to take time to laugh during the stressful time of holiday shopping ....
SAMMY GIRL :)

ps ... to find the Cabela's nearest you, go here
notes:
want something a little "dreamier" ... visit Castles and Crowns and Cottages ... she always has a WONDERFUL post! To join her this Pink Saturday, click here

My Heart Beats for You!

Hello
and
GOOD MORNING
dear heart!
Note to all ...
it is SOOO GOOD
not to be
"speaking"
Hindi
to you today.
Thanks to hotel
business center computer
and pictures on my
camera's SD card!
A few weeks ago
(yes, seems like YEARS!!)
I enrolled in a couple of classes
with
Art and Soul
Awesome!
I love
Lisa Kaus
and took her class
"Be Still My Beating Heart".
An example of her
project and technique
from the class listing.
Everyone was able to
"do their own thing".
What fun!
Of course I didn't finish ...
until two days ago.
My work is very personal
but they say that
risk taking is empowering
whoever they are ... lol!
but here goes ...
Here's My Heart
and it beats for you ...
The piece is worked
on five sides.
key is from London -
there's a
keyhole escutcheon
on the other side
but no pic.
(thinking of changing the ribbon ...)
See the charms on the bottom?? I got them from sweet Laurie
it was here 1st time
at Art & Soul, too!

The charms are double sided ...
I like to be able to change things!
The most daring thing I did?
Adding doll arms and a
scripture.
I was always taught
"Don't talk religion or politics"
Louder than talking,
a person's faith
should be transparent ...
a lens that colors everything
you do, see and say.
I know I fall short,
but we keep trying.
The plain paper was
too bright white
As Mr. Sammy Girl says,
I "rustied it up a bit".

I love cloth measuring tapes ...
and this one marks
a beginning ...
Added old music,
papers,
door knob
and a brass from London.

don't you love
finding beauty
in ordinary
funky stuff

And a special touch?

the word
PARIPATETIC
from a dictionary.

It is OUR word ..
Mr. Sammy Girl's and mine.

Two meanings ...
moving or walking around a lot ..
we have moved

a lot!

Other meaning is
teaching by walking around
like Aristotle.

Teaching by
interacting with people ...

We are gypsies at heart
who try to teach
without teaching.

Crazy, huh?

Thanks for
letting me share.

My heart beats for you.

Hugs and know that even when you don't feel it, there are those who love you dearly!

note: the spacing didn't look right in the preview ... but gotta go and pick up Mr. Sammy girl from his meeting ....

व्हिते वेद्नेस्दय

व्हिते वेद्नेस्दय!!
Welcome to White Wednesday!!
As a famous actor, racecar driver and
salad dressing empresario
once said …
“What we have here is a failure to communicate।”

My standard computer is
fried and the back-up
(once abandoned for talking Russian)
is now only talking to you in Hindi।
सी! थिस इस वहत आईटी दोएस!

I am only able to “talk” to you
by typing in publisher and
copying and pasting to the post।

Way too much work,
but I wanted to have a post to say “hi”
and share some neat stuff।
Alas, the pictures are on the fried computer!
I know many of you have been there and can commiserate।
Guess what I’m wanting to get for an early Christmas present!

Enjoy the images
(print ones are from my collection …
photos were on my नो हिन्दी स्पेअकिंग machine
for couple of years from who knows where … mine??)
Hugs and may all your “failures to communicate” have an element of fun!
Sammy Girl :)
Note: if you read Hindi … let me know if the translation is as funny as Google translate!

The Problem with Junking ...

... is

you lose

any sense

of time!

YEP!
bad joke

but
a dozen
clock carcasses
(cases?)

came home with me.

Maybe
TIME
wasn't the only thing
I lost while junking?

Hugs and hope all your junking is a really good TIME!  (and maybe this post made you smile!)

************
This just in ...

e-mail from the fabulous and wonderful
Miss Linda

I had to share it with you.

In Memoriam

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.   Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey", died peacefully at age 93.   The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin.  They put his left leg in.  And then the trouble started.

Hugs and remembering "That's What It's All About"!
