the birth story

I was scheduled for an induction on Saturday morning and was told to be at the hospital by 6 am. I was grateful to have my two amazing friends ~ Maria and Tina ~ bring me and be my support team. I have great friends don't I?!! I am so glad they came and helped pass the time with some laughter!
We had some really fun nurses to begin with and had a great time as we got everything ready in preparation of my Dr coming in and breaking my water. I was given pitocin and everything was progressing wonderfully but little did we know that my Dr wasn't going to mosey in until 11:30am so we slowed things down and let the waiting game begin. After Dr. Sporl showed up and broke my water and started the 'pit' up again I decided to get the epidural {since I could this time} but unfortunately, the anesthesiologist was stuck in the OR with a crash c-section patient and wasn't able to come for a couple of hours. Once again we slowed things down and waited some more. Looking back I wish I would have just gone forward without the epidural but what can ya do...

Once I got the epidural I think that things took off pretty quick. I still felt the contractions and tried to move from one side to the other in hopes of lessening the pain as they said that gravity helps shift the epidural around. It did seem to work a bit but what really helped was when the nurse decided to give me a shot of fentanyl and that was all I needed... it took the edge off and I was so happy! About 20 minutes later our beautiful little Crew man was here. He did have the cord wrapped around his neck but I believe it was loose enough for the Dr to just pull it off. My friends were keeping Joe posted the whole time and he was able to hear Crew's first cry over phone. He and the boys came to the hospital shortly after and then my mom stayed with me that night in the hospital.
the famous scale shot - i had to give the little guy some privacy

He is SO adorable! I'm so happy for your entire family. What the perfect little addition to your already super cute family. I can't wait to see him. It just seems like someone has been sick in my family for the past month, so we'll wait until we're all better. :)
