Bagnet salad

@ mirandablue
Bagnet Salad at Cafe Juanita, one of their best-sellers.  Bagnet or Iloko chitcharon (pork cracklings) was mixed with tomatoes, onions, vinegar and fish sauce.  Ordered this as an appetizer but ended up eating it with rice.:p

Lechon macau

@ mirandablue

I thought I lost this post after what happened to Blogger last week.  But as luck would have it, it's in my draft folder! So here it is again for Food Friday.

Lechon Macau and Yang Chow fried rice at Mann Hann---a combination that would make you forget you're on diet.  Lechon Macau, by the way, is not as oily as Lechon Kawali because it's oven-roasted not deep-fried.

Agave sampler

@ mirandablue
A bit of everything in one plate.  Shared this appetizer sampler with two friends at Agave Mexican Cantina in Bonifacio High Street. This is a selection of Agave's popular appetizers--Yucatan chicken skewers, beef taquitos, fresh mushroom empanaditas, crab & shrimp chile rellenos, quesadillas and Mexican and lime-cilantro rice.  Served with hacienda ranch dip, chips and salsa.

Soup and pasta @ Almon Marina

@ mirandablue
Almon Marina is my favorite place when I needed a quick lunch or a light dinner. They serve healthy and fresh sandwiches, and their a la carte dishes are well-cooked.  Mushroom soup and Carbonara---my snack cum dinner on Sunday.  I needed a full stomach before I ventured to the HomeWorld sale at the SM Megatrade hall.:p

Vegetarian Lettuce Wrap

@ mirandablue
One of my favorite appetizers at Pho Hoa---fried rice paper roll with lettuce wrap. It's a vegetarian spring roll served with fresh lettuce.  It is eaten wrapped in fresh lettuce and dipped in a tasty, sweet spicy vinegar sauce.

Korean pasta

@ mirandablue
I have no idea what this pasta dish is called in Korean.  The sauce has squid, cabbage and possibly chili powder, a lot of it.  It was excessively spicy I've lost all feeling on my tongue!  I love spicy food but couldn't tolerate this one.  And I made a mistake of sipping cheap sake to cool off my burning tongue.  It tasted like a 3-day old tuba, an alcoholic drink from the sap of coconut tree that turns sour after 2 to 3 days---so different from the sake I had before.

This was my Korean misadventure.

Tofu with coconut milk

@ mirandablue
Tofu with vegetables and coconut milk from Jatujak, a Thai restaurant.  Not my choice and I didn't like it.  I find the combination of string beans, young corn and other veggies a bit strange.  The young corn was also chewy.  But my friend S wanted her tofu and veggies---I think she felt guilty for eating crispy pata at lunch.:p

Sinigang na Tanguigue

@ mirandablue
Sinigang na Tanguigue (Spanish Mackerel) served hot in a clay pot.  For non-Filipinos, sinigang is a light soup cooked with a souring agent like tamarind, tomatoes, guava or calamondin.  Aside from fish, pork, beef or shrimps can also be used.  Vegetables are also added such as okra, taro corns, daikon, water spinach, eggplant and yard-long beans.  Green finger pepper is usually added to enhance the flavor.

Vegetable Medley

@ mirandablue
Yes, I am doing my best to eat healthy.  Here's a meatless dish, a seductive medley of stir-fried vegetables flavored with oyster sauce. The fresh veggies were delightfully sweet and crisp.
