The Monster on top of the Wardrobe!

I was looking through some old photos
and found these pictures taken about 16(?) years ago
of my Mom's Monster quilt laid out in our old back garden.
I think at this point
the sheer size of it must have overwhelmed her
because she just packed it away again...
Such a lot of handwork
as it's been English Paper-pieced...
A friend who was visiting at the time,
was very keen for her to finish it
and he helped her lay it out...
But she never did.

A few years back, I made a stab at finishing it.
But I never did.
It's in a box above the wardrobe
waiting for inspiration/enthusiasm and determination to strike.
But it hasn't. Yet.

It will happen when the time is right...maybe your daughter's wedding? :)

It's lovely!

I recall you sharing stories of this monster and I was thinking that maybe you were going to tell us you had finished it. *LOL* I was wrong. Bonnie has a good idea. It gives you lots of time, but those years are going to fly! : )

I hope you finish it. It's wonderful, and it's really so close to being complete! :-)

This can be the problem with paper pieced quilts, a) they grow too big and b) they are an irregular shape! I get quite a few donated for Project Linus. In that case I cut them into a square or rectangular shape because they don't have any emotional baggage for me. Good luck with this one!

Make a date with a patchworking friend. Help her finish a UFO. Then get her to help you finish your UFO. 2 UFOs done, time spent together, much tea and cake consumed. Winners all round. Hugs.

What a undertaking your mom has done to make it never mind it being E/P . Won't it be fun to tackle that baby! A Mother--Daughter Team Quilt....just a thought.
