PINK SATURDAY & SUNBONNET SUE GIVEAWAY

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet The Sound. If you go to visit her you can get a list of all the other participants. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event.

Today for my pinkness I have this pretty vintage sampler. Some of you might remember I posted a pic of this when I purchased it back in Jan. I took it out of the frame, washed and iron it, painted the mat pink and painted the gray frame white and antiqued it a little.

Sorry about the glare from the light. I have it all ready for my new sewing room that is still being remodeled. The sampler reminds me of the fireplace in my sewing room. I'd love to find some pink ceramic tile to do mine up this way. I'd like tile around the opening in the fireplace and on the floor in front of it. I have been looking but so far all the pink tile I find is more of an antique rose look. Isn't it just the cutest little emboidered sampler? Doesn't it look like a peaceful little place to hang out?

Below is what it looked like when I purchased it.

Next is my giveaway. Below is a cute little Sunbonnet Sue needle case that I made, she has some pretty little crystal beads on her hat and bouquet.

When you lift her skirt you will find a place to hold your sewing needles. To enter just post a comment on this post and if your not a follower please sign up as one. If you drag the pic and post my giveaway on your sidebar I will enter your name twice. Let me know if you do that so I can be sure to put your name in twice. I will post the winner next Saturday. Good luck!

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you. Have a great week!

PINK SATURDAY & A GIFT FROM AN ANGEL

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound.
If you go to visit her you can get a list of all the other participants. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event!

Beverly asked us to visit a new blog each week and the new one that I went to visit was ~~~~~Kitty And Me Designs~~~~~. Loved her blog and kitties too!

For my pinkness this week I'd like to share this little story with you.~~~~~~
I got an email from a gal named Deb, she said she looked at my blog and noticed that I liked vintage linens. She had some vintage pillowcases made by her Mother in Law and wanted to give them to someone who would appreciate them. She noticed my son was in the Army and she is an AirForce Mom and just chose me to give them to.

What a nice surprise the day the package arrived, I never expected to see so many pillowcases and they are all just beautiful.

Some closeups, I just love the little sheep on this set.

Deb is also an artist and drew this beautiful picture of an Angel with her wings around a soldier, it brought tears to my eyes since my son is deployed in Afghanistan and really needs those wings around him right now!

She had her art work printed on post cards with "God Bless Our Troops" printed on the back. She sent me a whole stack of them. Also in this package was a cute little magnet that says "Breathe". She said she used this term with the Air Force Mom's that were having a hard time adjusting. She told them"Sometimes ALL you can do is ~~~~Breathe~~~. In that breathing, you realize a calming. When you notice your breaths it can become a way to relax".
So you see I truly received a gift from an Angel.
Thank you so much Deb, I will always think of you when I use these pillowcases and send little prayers up for you and your son!

Thank you so much for stopping by and letting me share my little story with you.
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings to ya! Shirl

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY & HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. If you stop by to visit her you can get a list of all the other participants.

Today for my pinkness I just have to show you this pretty little print (above) that I bought just this week in an Antique Mall. I thought it so "shabby" and so "sweet"! A few close ups.

My next little bit of pinkness is this pretty vintage embroidered tablecover. I love baskets and thought this was sooooo pretty and was lucky enough to win it on an ebay auction.

A few closeups, you can also click on the picture to get a larger view.

I have a busy weekend planned, what plans do you have? Among the many things I plan to do (gardening, baking cupcakes for grandsons, sewing, shopping for furniture, church) I hope to find time to sit and relax will all my new magazines that have come in this week. This is one of my most favorite things to do with my daughter Jen, is to relax with a cup of coffee or tea and look through some magazines. Share ideas of decorating, crafting, sewing and recipes.

These Australian magazines are just full of the most beautiful sewing patterns.
Sew Sunny Homestyle has the cutest little patterns. I find this type of book so inspiring to come up with my own creations. Of course Paula Dean's magazines are such a joy to read, she is such an uplifting person.

I wish you all a happy and safe Halloween! Yesterday our school had a Halloween party for the children, my students were just as cute as can be. Some really adorable costumes!
I thought I'd share some pics of my front porch all decked out for fall.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Molly the Newf is still doing great! Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings, Shirl

PINK SATURDAY & UPDATE ON MOLLY THE NEWF

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event. If you go to visit her you can get a list of all the other participants.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments and prayers for our Newfy girl Molly. She went for her follow-up with her vet and he was not able to take her stitches out yet. She is still draining in a few spots so she's not healed enough to take them out. Poor girl, they are still not sure what caused this but have not ruled out stomach cancer. We are praying it won't be that. She's still on meds and if she has anymore problems then they will want to run a scope down and see inside her stomach. Praying she won't need that done. These pups sure do wrap their paws around our hearts don't they?

Anyway on to some pinkness. I hit a few flea markets last month and here is the collection of things that I bought. Great prices on everything, I don't think my total price here was over $20.00.

Some closeups Lots of pretty embroidered linens.

I thought the violet teacups and saucers were so pretty. I might make some pincushions out of them.

Some pretty bling!

Love this little jadeite chick on nest.

I love old needlepoint, I'm painting the frames white on these.
One of the four vintage cards that I picked up.
Love this little set of embroidered linens.

This Martha Stewart book was only $2.00 and it was even signed. Great find, I watch Martha Stewart everyday, I like to learn something new everyday and her show makes it possible.

This is the type of doll my sister and I used to play with, we thought we were in heaven the day we got our first Barbie.
She even has her own little Bible.

Thank you so much for stopping by it was great to visit with you. Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings, Shirl

Vera at "Seams to Sew and Quilt" has a delightful mix of yummy cakes, cupcakes and quilts. I really enjoyed strolling through her blog and will be sure to stop back quite often.

Monday was my birthday and it was like Christmas at my cottage, so I'm going to share with you all of the pinkness that came my way this week.

First look at this yummy Dairy Queen cake my daughter Jen and my grandson's surprised me with.
It was delish!

Jen also made me some faux cakes for my birthday. Look how sweet this Maypole cake is. It's right at home in my teatime/cupcake guest bedroom.

Jen also made me this pretty ballerina cake.
Look how sweet, she even has a bracelet.

I love the back of her dress. Thank you so much Jen for your sweet thoughtful gifts!

My son is away for two weeks of training with the Army for his deployment in March but he sent me this beautiful card.
Another adorable gift from my daughter Jen. A sweet little halloween pincushion. Jen even made some ribbon rose pins for it. Love it Jen.

Jen wrapped my gift in this pretty teatime fabric, I love it and I think I'm going to make a small tabletop quilt for my kitchen island.

My sweet husband surprised me with this beautiful heart necklace.
And a pretty pink heart ring.

My friend Bertie from Aunt May Cottage sent me this beautiful box of goodies!
Look at this beautiful glove that she made. She makes the most adorable things.
A close up of the glove.
The next three are close ups of the embroidery that Bertie sent me, pink, Southern Belles and embroidery. Three of my favorite things! Thank you so much Betie I will treasure them! I have not decided what I'm going to make them into but they will be something special.

Next I have some pretty pink gifts from my friend Katie at Rose Breeze Boutiques. Thank you so much Katie, The emroidered pillow is just beautiful as is the journal and card.
My friend Lorena over at Rose Chic Friends made me this adorable inital with hand made roses, a pretty card and some pink ribbons. Thank you so much Lorena.
