Happy New Challenge Day!

Hello all! Hope you're having a great week so far! This week for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge, we are joined by Jay Jay who has been so kind as to make a sketch for us to follow. The design team has used Sarah Kay images and you can too, but if you'd like to use a different image, feel free : )

Here is your weekly inspiration!

Thanks for joining us Jay Jay! Love the sketch! Jay Jay used super cute Apple Cider Paper by Imaginisce. She used the Adele Enjoying Fresh Apples Stamp. She also used Curved Rectangles by Spellbinders and Martha Stewart's Grass punch.

Lols used the Adele Enjoying Fresh Apples stamp. The papers are by Cosmo Cricket and are called Nutmeg - aren't they perfect for this card?? The brown twine that she used for the tag is Hemp Twine by American Tag.

I like what Chris did with the bright yellow paper! The paper is a lot like Stampin Up's Summer Sun Cardstock. I could see Maya Road's Velvet Blossoms Fire coordinating well with the colors in the card, too. : )

Jo used gorgeous papers called Restoration by Crate Paper. She used Prima's Alphabet clear stamp for the letters (note: this set comes with gems too!).

Jane has used the Wassail paper by Basic Grey. She also used Bundled Sage to ink the edges and the Create a Snowflake dies by Spellbinders (there is set one and set two, each containing different snowflakes).

Domi used the My Sweet Lili stamp by Sarah Kay -such a sweet image! The pink flowers are a lot like Prima's E Line flowers called Delicacies Bubblegum.

Marcea used the Lace Heart punch by Martha Stewart. I love that red cardstock paper too! May I suggest the Jenni Bowlin Paper Pack by Core'dinations? It'd be really nice for a Christmas card like this one!

Heather's card is so pretty! I like the zig zag punch she used - try the Embossed Zigzag punch by Martha Stewart. The tag holding the sentiment is made with the Spellbinders die called Ribbon Tags Trio.

Christine has used the Country Girl stamp for the image (and colored it beautifully!!!). She used Tim Holtz's Distress Inks - I suggest the 12 refills and ink pads set if you don't want all 36 colors. It would be a gift to yourself that truly keeps giving!! She also used Watercolor Paper to get such a great image.

Care to win a $25 Gift voucher to our Simon Says Stamp Store?! All you have to do is enter the Simon Says Stamp Challenge!! Follow the rules and you may be a lucky winner. Plus, we love seeing what you have invented!

-Sarah

Spotlight on Simon Says Stamp Designer Debby!

We would love for you to meet our Simon Designer, Debby! Last week we introduced you to one of our original DT girls, Domi, and this week, we are so happy to introduce Debby!

Debby has been designing with us for about 2 years. We are honored to have her on our team! She married her hubby at 17 and has two grown up children, one of which as already flow the nest.

Not only is Debby an extremely talented card maker and paper artist, she has been a knitter and cross stitcher. She will turn as she calls it "Half century" this year and is thrilled that her kids are taking her to Las Vegas to celebrate!

Debby has been a very loyal member of our Simon family since the inception of our design team over 2 years ago. In fact, Debby's blog was the first blog I ever started following. (You should too:)

To the right is a beautiful card Debby made using Whiff Of Joy stamp SHY WILLOW.

This card reminds me of Debby, sweet and gentle. She has a beautiful spirit and describes herself as "I don't ask for much". and she really doesn't!

The card to the left uses a Sarah Kay Stamp called Picnic of Daisies. Debby's work is always clean, crisp and bright. Each of her cards is like a work of art. Her colors coordinate beautifully and her shading and color selections bring the characters to life!

Penny Black stamps are another favorite of Debby. The layering on the card to the right shows great deal and accentuates the image of Hedgy.

Notice how Debby so very carefully cuts out an image and layers it for emphasis? This is signature for Debby! She used another Sarah Kay stamp on the card to the left. It's called Kiss for Chloe.

Here again, Debby trimmed an image and layered for emphasis. I like how she doesn't forget a single detail in her work. The card to the right has Pirate Tilda sitting pretty in pink!

Won't you please join us in celebrating our Designer, Debby! Be sure to pop by her blog HERE and give her a hello! She would LOVE to hear from you!

Luv
Heidi

Ok, Ok, I have to admit, these are some of my favorite stamps EVAH!!! Seriously, to create something so sweet and cute, one must thing the designer is the nicest gal in the world! I imagine her visiting her garden in between walking her dogs - reading a book while the butterflies fly by her head. What is this Sarah Kay like anyway, well... a little of the mystery revealed:

Sarah Kay

Often imitated, never equalled.

With her unique and authentic style, Sarah Kay is the artist who made millions of girls worldwide dream during the 70s and 80s: girls who are now mums…

Sarah Kay depicts a romantic and naïve universe, a childhood filled with happiness, sweetness and tenderness. Her drawings cover all subjects children love: friendship, nature, animals, play….

An art school graduate, Sarah Kay began her career working for an advertising agency in Australia. When her daughter became very ill, Sarah Kay needed something to entertain her. She began drawing happy children, set in peaceful and natural backgrounds, which were recollections of her own childhood spent on her own grandparents’ farm.

Success Begins

When her first 20 drawings were ready, Sarah Kay offered them to one of the biggest Australian greetings cards publishers. Sarah Kay’s success began there and then. Sarah Kay is discreet by nature; she avoids advertisement and interviews, and works in the utmost secrecy. This makes each of her drawings a little more precious. The success of Sarah Kay’s greetings cards spread very fast around the world, particularly in Europe. Soon Sarah Kay’s drawings grew beyond the realm of greetings cards. In the early 80s, many Sarah Kay products appeared on the market: books, dolls, puzzles, bed linen, tableware….

Stories are coming from all over the world and Hemma Publishing, Sarah Kay’s historic publisher, is submerged by mails urging Sarah Kay to come back. All evokes Sarah Kay as being the artist of their childhood, who awakes happiness, emotion, recollections, and especially desire to have her back and to make their children discover this wonderful world.

Sarah Kay’s universe can extend in all sectors for licensing including but not limited to apparel, footwear, ceramics, tableware, bed linen, dolls, toys, soft furnishings, bags, accessories, toiletries, stationery.

Her newest 10 stamps are featured above! The stamps are available for preorder at Simon Says Stamp now! Visit www.SimonSaysStamp.com as we carry the complete Sarah Kay collection! We are even selling the complete new 2010 Spring Collection as a LOT.

Jean-Luc playing ball with Claude
Josephine in the watermelon patch

Lynette collecting her vegetables
Olivia with her kittens Kiki and Sugar
Zoé gazing at the buttefly
Adele enjoying fresh apples
André carrying watermelon
Bernadette admiring the spring flowers
Henri playing with turtles Bubba and Milo
Isabelle with puppy Coco

I am curious, what do you think? I am just crazy in love, are you? I cannot WAIT to get these stamps in my hand, ink them up and color in the beauty!

Sarah Kay Card Ideas Picnic of Daisies by Bev!

Picnic of Daisies Rubber Stamp by Sarah Kay

Moving right along with our Sarah Kay special week! Bev has made the above cards using Picnic of Daisies stamp by Sarah Kay. What do you think?

Did you know that Simon Says Stamp not only has tens of thousands of rubber stamps in stock, but we also have the best selection of Prima Flowers on the internet!? White, red, pink, black, blue - YOU NAME IT! All sizes, shapes, colors, textures. Prima mulberry paper and silk flowers are a great addition to your cards! CLICK HERE to see our selection! We even have the new mini roses!

Grandma gave our little boy this monkey (he loooves monkies!) The monkey at the Columbus Zoo had a baby last week and her baby was ORANGE! We went and saw mommy and her baby yesterday. I can't remember the type of monkey, but she is brown, and always has orange offspring. Little Jax decided his new friend wanted a sucker. What a sweety pie ;)

The zoo is just a few miles from our offices. It's a lucky break ;) Yesterday one of the animals escaped and they had to evacuate us from the Asia exhibit. After a few hours, they got the animal (some type of deer) back into her home. Luckily because the tiger and lion exhibits were close by!

Have a great day!
Luv,
Heidi
