Joy Clair and Quick Quotes Promotion!

Friday greetings to you! Today is day five of the Quick Quotes promotion and giveaway with Joy Clair this week. I am up on the blog along with June Swart featuring the lovely Joy Clair stamps and of course Quick Quotes products.

Today I have a Traveler's Journal that I created using the new and gorgeous papers called Serenade, PowderPuff Chalk Inks, Joy Clair stamps and of course some mixed media and a few extra goodies.

For the cover, I am featuring the Uh Oh Ink Splatters stamps by Joy Clair, you can see the larger splatter on the lower left corner using Midnight Confessions PowderPuff Chalk Ink and the petite splatter dots in the upper left.

This set of stamps is so versatile, I just love the extra interest they add here!

For the binding, I adhered some paper doily that I inked with Sky Blue, then Mod Podged to the binding to soften the look of my Journal. I was inspired by Susie Bentz's idea to use a flair to accent the spine so I found some coordinating ribbon and added a little bow.

To create the lines on my signature page inserts, I used my Canon Pixma iP8720 and Microsoft Word.
  • Create a new word document
  • Adjusted margins to 8.25 wide x 8.50 high
  • Created two columns and tabbed down to type several lines using double spacing in the paragraph.
  • Copy and paste the lines in the next column so they are even.
  • Changed color of underline to a coordinating ink color for my paper. Here I used a blue.
  • Print and repeat for any additional signature pages you wish to have some journaling lines on.

Create word document and sized to 8.25 wide x 8.50 high.
Verify your margins and adjust as needed. I made mine .75
Orientation is Portrait.
Inserted two columns, format spacing to double space.
Type in your lines as desired.

When completed, print your document.

For this printer, place paper right side up, adjust the paper guides to fit your custom paper size.

Final result. I like to mark my measurements lightly on the page and erase when done so I don't get confused with orientation. Once I had my signature pages with lines created, I added additional stamping and interest using my PowderPuff Chalk Inks and my Joy Clair stamps.

Angel Documented with BoBunny

Greetings!  I was recently up on the BoBunny blog featuring a mixed media page with one of our newest collections, Genevieve.

Angel Documented Mixed Media Page
Angel Documented Mixed Media Scrapbook Page featuring Genevieve Collection and Celebrate Laser Chipboard by BoBunny designed by Rhonda Van Ginkel

My project for today is a mixed media page featuring the all new and utterly beautiful "Genevieve" collection. I wanted to feature the angelic feel of my photos from our recent vacation. This particular center photo looks to me like an angel glowing at the end, so that is the perspective behind the title.

To begin, I stamped the angled typescript from the "It is Written"stamp set. I've used Silver Glitter Paste with our new Whimsy Stickable Stencil for a background accent.

Angel Documented Mixed Media Scrapbook Page featuring Genevieve Collection and Celebrate Laser Chipboard by BoBunny designed by Rhonda Van Ginkel

For my title work I've combined one of the new "Celebrate" Laser Cut Chipboard sentiments, finished with gesso and then a light rub of Silver Pearlescents.  The "Documented" sentiment and flourish are from the Filagree Silver Foil Transfer collection.

A few splatters of Glimmer Spray in Sugar and Frost added a bit of movement and texture on the page also. For my collage, I layered piece of Noteworthy, Chipboard and Combo Stickers. The extra small chipboard sentiment was the perfect finishing touch.

Patterned Paper: Porcelain, Lavish / Genevieve

Bo Bunny July Inspiration

Greetings to you! I have a BoBunny altered project to share with you today. I recently picked up this paper book box at my local Hobby Lobby. Actually my son picked it out and I said it was just perfect for a project I wanted to create.

The book was first covered in a cream acrylic paint, then I set out to cover it with some of my favorite patterned papers in the Juliet collection using Mod Podge. The transition seam was disguised with some kraft patterned washi tape.

Once I had the outside of the book covered, I then used the Soulmate paper to cover the sides of paper for the book. A bit of stamping using the Distressed Textures gave it an authentic paper appearance.

The last steps were to add Glitter Paste in sugar using the Brocade script stickable stencil. I also used the cross patterned Border on the spine and allowed to dry. Once dry, I added a bit of stamping, the Gold Foil Transfer, Noteworthy sentiment and layered chipboard floral element. Flourishes were cut to layer using the Flourish Dies. The pink flower was cut using dies from my personal collection.

This box is perfect for storing special photos or memorabilia in and I love the vintage romantic feel that Juliet added to it.

BoBunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Amore, Nostalgia, Prose, Soulmate and Verona / Juliet
Chipboard: Layered Chipboard / Juliet
Noteworthy: Juliet
Brads: Juliet
Buttons: Juliet
Dies: Flourish Dies
Glitter Paste: Sugar and Blush
Stickable Stencils: Borders and Brocade
Transfers: Filagree Gold Foil
Kraft Patterned Washi Tape
Stamps: Stained Textures and Distressed Textures
Jewels: Dot Blue Hues and Mocha

July Sketch Challenge for Quick Quotes

Happy Friday!!! I'm excited today to host the Friday Challenge for July over at the Quick Quotes blog!

We are sharing some inspiration with a sketch from our friends at Sketchabilities for our challenge.

Sketchabilities #142 by Sketchabilites.blogspot.com

I used pieces from our July Club Q and created a sports themed page:

"This Happened"

The July Club Q features an all new collection which fun vibrant patriotic colors. The kits worked perfectly with the colors of our new baseball photos of the boys. I used pieces from the kits along with a few other random things to create my project. As you can see, I stayed very close to the sketch.

This Happened Scrapbook Page featuring July Club Q for Quick Quotes designed by Rhonda Van Ginkel

I used some glass beads and a heart stencil to place some subtle texture to the page along with Colorburst. Additional splatters of mist are added randomly. The top of the page you'll see more stamping with PowderPuff Chalk Inks in Midnight Confessions, Bloody Mary and Blue Jeans as well as a bit of washi tape and a button collage.

Forever Loved with Quick Quotes

Happy Tuesday to you!

I have a Quick Quotes project featuring the February Club Q kits and one of our all new PowderPuff Chalk Ink colors, Warm Sand to share with you today.

Forever Loved
Forever Loved Scrapbook Page for Quick Quotes featuring February Club Q by Rhonda Van Ginkel

For this project, the base is a chipboard 12x12 sheet that comes in the kits. I used the envelope pocket here as a focal point for my page. I love that it can be used to hold your private thoughts and journaling.

Once I had my layers determined, I stamped some textures in a variety of PowderPuff Chalking Inks, Midnight Confessions, Java and Mocha Mama.

The "Forever" chipboard sentiment was inked with Java, then I stamped some filigree pattern on it using our new Warm Sand PowderPuff Chalk Ink. I thought it added a bit of a softness.

The trim included in the kits has such a great texture, I layered it under my sentiment before adhering it with foam dimensional squares.

Family Zoo Sign with BoBunny

Happy Monday to you!

I have a fun off the page project to share with you today featuring some all new products from BoBunny! The base for this project is a $3 dollar spot find at Target. I used the Safari collection to design this project along with our new Metallic Rubons.

"The Van Ginkel Zoo" - Chalkboard Sign

I thought it would be fun to create a custom sign for our front door using the new Gold Foil Metallic Rubons. They are so versatile and elegant.

The "zoo" letters are included in the 6x12 chipboard, I used them on top of the 12" film strip here. An addition of one of the buttons with some gold metallic string added just a bit of texture. You can also see where I've used the Gold Foil Metallic Rubons from the Filagree set and used the stitch marks on the frame.

This was really a fun project to make and I know the boys will be excited to help hang it on the door.

Greetings and Happy Valentine's Day to you!

I recently became a member of the Canvas Corp Creative Crew.  One of our first challenges as a team is to create a 4x4 canvas that represents myself.

Thank you for the challenge Canvas Corp, it's a very small canvas but I was able to mix up so many of my favorite things on it and love it!!!

I have a BoBunmy project to share with you today featuring the ever versatile Rose Cafe collection by BoBunny and of course, Glitter Paste, Stickable Stencils and Glimmer Spray too!

This project design is inspired by the current BoBunny Sketch Challenge for January which is still open for a few more days. Please stop on over and play along if you have time!

Happiness Scrapbook Page featuring Rose Cafe for BoBunny by Rhonda VanGinkel

As you can see, this collection really lends itself so well to either masculine or feminine projects. To start this project, I applied some Silver Glitter Paste to the upper right and bottom left corners of my base paper. To my next layer I stamped using Licorice Ink,

I cut my two center vertical layers, then added some pretty die cuts to soften the stripes. Next, I cut a large doily, then used it for my photo to anchor. I added a few more banner cuts and then some Noteworthy, Combo Stickers and Layered Chipboard to complete the title and sentiments.

I painted Bronze Glimmer Spray to the Wood Shape Iron scroll on top, then added Jewels from the Blue Hues package. The floral die cut on the left, after cutting it, I also stenciled in using the Blueberry Ink.

Insta Love with DCWV!

Tuesday greetings to you! I'm super excited to share my first project as part of the DCWV GDT with you.

I have a fun project today to share with you featuring the Insta Photo Fun collection of products from DCWV! I used the 4.5 x 4.5 inch chipboard album (6 pages) for my base. The possibilities with these small albums are truly endless!

For the cover I used one of my printed cardstock pieces from my Insta Photo Fun mini stack, then stamped on it and added a title cut from more cardstock and my Silhouette.

Here you can see the accordion fold style of the album.

The theme of my album are a variety of silly face photos of my youngest son.

I've sized down my collages to 50% in size so I can print them to fit the album. Here you see more stamping along with a bit of ribbon tied around the mat.

Here I've used one of the accessory cards as a layer along with the stamping for interest.

The back of the album.

My sweet, wild and very fun little boy!

I am excited to give this fun album to him for a Valentine's Day gift.  I know that he will really like the way the album folds and of course all of his fun photos too.

Believe Tag with UmWowStudio

Happy Wednesday crafty peeps!  I've got a project to share with you that I created for UmWowStudio. For my project today I decided to go out of my comfort zone.

I created a feminine inspirational tag featuring the relief of the "Believe" sentiment from our Christmas Speech Bubbles chipboard.

"Be You-nique and Believe"

Believe. One of my very good friends always says this to me. It's funny how this one little word can have such a profound and calming impact. When I saw this in the Christmas Speech Bubbles, I knew I wanted to use in as part of the inspirational message on the tag.

Both of my chipboard elements were colored with some Smooch in Lettuce and a touch of Frosted Acadia. To accent the delicate features of the Leaf Stems I added some crystals from Prima in a variety of styles. I love the way the chipboard and flair created their own embellishment cluster!

UmWowStudio Products:

Other: Tag Base, Papers, Stamp and Crystals by Prima. Smooch in Lettuce and Frosted Acadia. Be You-Nique sentiment from Primrose 3x4 Misc Me card by BoBunny, Copics and Ribbon. Ribbon Bow on Dress by Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper. Bell Doily Die by Cheery Lynn Designs.

This was a fun project for me, hope you enjoyed it.  Thanks so much for stopping on over to my blog today and have a super scrappity day!

Hi crafty friends, it's my day to share a project over at Quick Quotes today!

I've got a cheerful little card to share with you featuring the Calypso and Serendipity collections. I think the colors in the Calypso collection are so bright and happy, it just reminds me of springtime.

"but these are the days we dream…"

I did a bit of fussy cutting on a floral pattern from the Calypso 400 paper for my "sunlight".

The chipboard sentiment was attached with adhesive foam dots for texture.  You can see that I stamped a bit on my background with splatter stamps and some Mango Mai Tai and Blue Jeans PowderPuff Chalk Inks.

December Club Q 2013!

Happy Wednesday to you!  It's my day to share a project over on the Quick Quotes blog today.

My project today features pieces from the December Club Q kits along with a few other items from my personal stash. My page was inspired by this amazing sketch over at Sketchabilities. I really love the extra mixed media influences and thought it would be fun to mix things up a bit.

There are some really fun elements in the kits this month!  The pretty accordion flowers are die cut for you and some other pre-punched pieces of papers ready for you to embellish.

The accordion flower was assembled, and I added a little doily die cut on top of it and a pretty brad from one of my previous Club Q kits.  I used a stencil/mask and modeling paste to create my arrow, then rubbed on a bit of Inka Gold Metallic Rub for a pretty effect.

I love the sentiments sticker sheet that is included in the kit!  Perfect for my page!

My Santa Claus title work was cut using my Silhouette with the paper that came in the kit. Isn't that white lace trim just beautiful?  It's beyond stunning in person!!!

You Whoooo with Cheery Lynn Designs!

Monday greetings everyone, it's my day to host the blog over at Cheery Lynn Designs today!

I've got a fun card to share with you that I affectionately refer to as my "peek-a-boo" window card.  I used my French Flair shaped stacker dies to create the window opening in my card.

"You Whoooo!" (A2 size card)

The owl, horizon stacker and inked cheesecloth are attached to the inside of the card.

In case you have not had a chance to use our Stackers yet, I thought I would show a few steps on how I created my window and frames here for my card.

This is my plain white card stock base. (My next card will have another background layer or two of paper stitched down before this step.)
  1. I used my centering ruler to find the center point and marked the center for my window location.
  2. Using a pencil, I traced around my middle opening so I could line up the die and tape it down.
  3. Tape the die on the inside to your card base, open the card flat, then run through your die cutting machine.
  4. You now have a window opening on the front of your card.

This step creates the top layer of my frame for my window.  It is layered on top of the scalloped border. Carefully arrange the dies so equal distance is visible in between your dies.  I placed my tape on the outer and inner sections.

This is how the frame pops out.

This is how I created the scalloped frame, using the same size Silver Stacker in my center.  These frames fit exactly to the window that I cut and layered beautifully. I did ink the inside of my window orange to coordinate with my frame.

I also inked my cut frame pieces, then adhered them together using foam dots for dimension. This allowed me to attach my branches in between the two layers of my frame.
