If only....

Late 1800's crazy quilt

I've been wandering around the intertubes again, getting inspiration for the first crazy quilt block I'll be making this weekend. I'm truly amazed at the creativity out there, and a little intimidated by it, truth be told. If I could do one patch even half as gorgeous as any of the ones I found on various sites, I'd be happy.

One site was of particular interest to a noob like me who has no clue yet what she's doing, because it showed the 9 patch quilt fabric layout for each block, before it was embellished. This, was the end result. Just gorgeous, and if eyes don't deceive, every one the same patch just with different fabrics and turned different ways. It was done by Allie Aller. Color me green with envy, but a green definitely matching those patches.

This is my typical "look".

I have so many DIY, sewing and other craft supplies that it's actually embarrassing. So far, I've been very good at collecting the needed items, not so good at using them, except for home repairs and the occasional pillow cover.

Time has been a huge factor in that. My Lifelove had a stroke at a fairly young age, many years back, that left him mostly paralyzed on his right side, and also led to more of the work load of our life being carried by yours truly, which takes up more time. He's totally worth it, and some time has opened up from other responsibilities being on hold for awhile, so it's time to make some things!

But where to start? Maybe a blog would help focus energies more, and act as an inspiration? As I write this, I have no idea how that will help, but it seems like a first step that might lead to other steps.

I enjoy DIY, sewing, needlework, genealogy, and about a bazillion other things, so, well, who knows, really, what this will end up being. I hope something good!
