weSTAMP SWAP

Last month, my SU Sideline and dear friend, Lorri Heiling, and I joined our creative teams for monthly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator meetings. We fondly named our group weSTAMP in conjunction with my blog name. The weSTAMP SU Demonstrator Group is a wonderful group of women that all share a passion for stamping, papercrafting, and Stampin' Up! products. If you are interested in becoming a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator which includes the perk of swapping with this fabulous group of women, please email me! nrileycm@cox.net.

Last night was our second monthly meeting, and our first SWAP. It was the first time most of the Stampin' Up! Demonstrators in attendance had ever swapped, and each and every one of them rose to the challenge beautifully! Our swap theme was very general ... to create any card using any current Stampin' Up! stamp set/paper/accessories. Take a look .....

Lorri Heiling's swap card uses the NEW Time Well Spent stamp set and Cutie Pie DP. Don't you just love the way she snipped the Wild Wasabi CS to make the grass?!
Leah Sinatra's beautiful card uses the NEW Time Well Spent stamp set with Fall Flowers DP. Gorgeous colors, huh?! ... Soft Sky, Really Rust, and Old Olive.
Adriana Gray's SUPER CUTE swap card uses Bugs & Kisses Stamp Set with Cutie Pie DP.
Pam Wood used Illuminations stamp set with lots of BLING ... silver embossing, Dazzling Diamonds, and Stickles. So elegant!
Anne Fundner used Baroque Motifs stamp set to create this beauty with the colors of Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy, and Kraft.
Ginny Schembri used the oh-so-elegant Le Jardin DP and Heartfelt Thanks stamp set to create this unique fold to her card.
Ginny's card open:
Jessica Blair brought in the holiday cheer with her Christmas card using Dashing DP, Perfect Presentation stamp set (Level Two Hostess), and a dry embossed Cuttlebug strip.
This was my swap card using Big Bold Birthday stamp set and Creative License Simply Scrappin' Kit (Level One Hostess). My swap card was inspired by Carol Frerich's card found at the bottom of her post HERE (Stamp Like Crazy). It's hard to see in the photo, but the Pumpkin Pie gift is popped up on dimensionals.
RECIPE FOR BIG BOLD BIRTHDAY CARD
Stamps:
Big Bold Birthday, Polka Dot Background Stamp
Paper: Textured Soft Sky, Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabi and striped DP from Creative License Simply Scrappin’ Kit (Level One Hostess), Whisper White CS
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi and Blue Bayou Classic Ink Pads, Versamark
Embellishments: Blue Bayou Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: Word Window Punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Scissors
Supplies: Stampin’ Dimensionals
Note: Ribbon is in two pieces. The piece that wraps around the card base is adhered behind the main image with Sticky Strip.

Leah Sinatra won the door prize at last month's meeting, therefore being crowned the provider of this month's door prize. Leah altered these super cute chipboard letters with Fall Flowers DP that spell the word "STAMP".

Funny story .... the winner of this chipboard letter collection was Pam Wood ... the first three letters that Pam pulled out of the gift bag were "P", "A", and "M". We all had such a puzzled look on our faces wondering how Leah knew Pam would be the winner of the door prize to have spelled her name!!!!
This is the Make 'n Take that Lorri Heiling provided our group last night. This is a super cool GUY card using Outlaw DP and Wanted stamp set. This card was GREAT for showing off what the Crop-A-Dile can do by setting the eyelets in the center of the stars (which were punched out using the star punch) and dry embossing the row of circles underneath the main image on the Sage Shadow CS. WANTED ALL OCCASION CARD
Stamps: Wanted, So Many Sayings
Paper: Outlaw DP, Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow, Naturals Ivory
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow
Embellishments: Eyelets
Tools: Crop-a-dile, Paper Piercing Template, Star Punch
Supplies: Adhesive
Technique: Using the crop-a-dile, stamping off (to show movement)

Looking forward to our next weSTAMP meeting and swap in January, girls! Can't WAIT !!!!

CASE OF A CASE

What do you call it when someone CASEs you, you like their CASE even better than your original, and you CASE their CASE? Unless someone comments telling me an "official" term for this, for now I'm calling it a "CASEBACK". That is exactly what happened between Nancy Morgan and myself! I originally made THIS CARD, Nancy Morgan CASEd me with THIS CARD, I liked her version even better than my original, and I CASEd her back! The only differences between Nancy Morgan's CASE and my CASEBACK: a) I used silver brads, and Nancy used Pink Rhinestone Brads, b) ignore looking at my ribbon! (Nancy's is so much better!) ... I'm working on that! This is the card I provided as a Make 'n Take project at our very first weSTAMP Demonstrator Group meeting Tuesday night. My friend and SU Sideline, Lorri Heiling and I have combined our creative teams for monthly demonstrator support meetings and swaps. What a GREAT group of ladies we have in our group! We had a wonderful time, and I can't wait for our next get-together! Lorri came up with the name for our group which ties in with the name of my blog. I LOVE it!

NITESTAMPER CASE

Two of my most favorite stamping artsits on SCS have BRAND NEW BLOGS! I have been so very inspired by these talented stampers, I just HAD to let you all know about them!

The first is Nancy Morgan, aka ncmorgan on SCS. My favorites file is FILLED with her artwork! Her cards ALWAYS catch my eye when browsing the gallery!

ncmorgan's SCS Gallery: HERE

ncmorgan's new blog, Paper Smiles: HERE

The second is Chat Wszelaki, aka nitestamper on SCS. If you've spent ANY time on SCS, you've seen Chat's work! Not only is her work over-the-top gorgeous, unique and creative but she does every single SCS challenge ... every day, in addition to her full-time, night shift nursing job!

nitestamper's SCS Gallery: HERE

nitestamper's new blog, Me, My Stamps, and I: HERE

This card is a CASE of nitestamper's card found HERE. The only changes I made include: a) changed the colors and DP, b) some different bling on the tree, and c) I used the Word Window Punch for the slot in the Old Olive layer that the DP strip goes through, instead of the oval punch.

I had my card all put together with the intention of stamping the "Merry Christmas" sentiment in Very Vanilla Craft Ink as my last step. Well ... this was my very first time using my new Very Vanilla Craft Ink Pad .... let's just say, I think it was defective so I opted for Black Classic. Stampin' Up! is so great about that kind of thing though ... just called them up and they are replacing the defective pad!

The Perfect Presentation tree is stamped twice with the second raised on Stampin' Dimensionals. There is a Red Rhinestone Brad through the starburst of the tree. The circle tag is also stamped twice with the center "Dec. 25" raised on a dimensional.

RECIPE
Stamps: Perfect Presentation (Level Two Hostess), All Holidays, Rough Texture Jumbo Wheel
Paper: River Rock, Old Olive, Real Red, Very Vanilla CS, Dashing DP
Ink: Old Olive and Basic Black Classic
Embellishments: Gold Brads, Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Red Rhinestone Brad, Gold Elastic Cord
Tools: Word Window Punch, Ticket Corner Punch, 1/2", 3/4", 1" and 1 1/4" Circle Punches
Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals

SCS SKETCH CHALLENGE 139

One of my favorite blogs, and bestest blogging friends, is Fran Sabad, Franticstampers. I've admired THIS CARD of Fran's since she posted it the end of August. I absolutely love this layout! I think it lends itself well to so many Stampin' Up! stamp sets. So I thought I would try to apply some of my stamp sets to it (which is also SCS Sketch Challenge 139).

Here's the Sketch 139:

SEASON OF JOY

This first card is very similar to Fran's card... just different colors, DP, ribbon, etc. The bling star on top of the Christmas tree was a Target $1 Spot find back in July. The center dots of the poinsettia were punched with a 1/8" circle punch (Old Olive CS) and adhered with Crystal Effects. The Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon was wrapped around the card, and stays in place with a few small pieces of Sticky Strip. The seam of the ribbon is hidden under the center horizontal CS panel. The bow is adhered with a glue dot.RECIPE
Stamps: Season of Joy (pg. 2-3 Holiday Mini 2007)
Paper: Dashing DP, Old Olive, Real Red, Very Vanilla, and River Rock CS
Ink: Old Olive, Real Red, and River Rock Classic Ink Pads
Embellishments: Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Misc. Non-SU Star
Tools: 1/8" Handheld Punch, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches
Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Crystal Effects, Glue Dot

PERFECT PRESENTATION
This next card turned out to be my favorite ... I'm LOVIN' the Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit! Such fun colors for the holidays, reminding me of the colors you see in the movie, "The Grinch". The Pretty In Pink Star on top of the tree, the blue scallop circle, and the striped vertical strip are die-cut stickers from the Winter Bright SS Kit. The Wild Wasabi and Purely Pomegranate Circles in the medallion are punched from the DP in the Winter Bright SS Kit.

RECIPE
Stamps: Perfect Presentation (Level 2 Hostess...pg. 20), "Merry Christmas" sentiment from All Holidays (pg. 143)
Paper: Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit (Bashful Blue, Purely Pomegranate, Pretty In Pink, Wild Wasabi)
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate Classic Ink Pads
Embellishments: Wild Wasabi Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: 1/4", 3/4", 1" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches
Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Glue Dot

SCS FEATURED STAMPER CHALLENGE FS37 TRUCARMA

Today's SCS Featured Stamper Challenge (FS37) features the beautiful gallery of Carole Burrage, aka TruCarMa on SCS. I knew the minute I clicked into Carole's gallery which card I wanted to case ... THIS ONE! I've had the stamp set, Perfect Presentation and the Simply Scrappin' Kit, Winter Bright for quite some time, and have been dying to use them! Although, I instantly had the vision in my head of what I wanted to do, once I started the process ... ughh!!! (and you all know what that means!). Funny how things look so different on paper than in my head! With the help of my kids' comments and suggestions, I (think) I pulled it together!

The Bashful Blue background was created using a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, and using stickers from the Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit. The stitched Purely Pomegranate borders along the top and the bottom of the striped DP are also stickers from the Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit.

Here's what I changed from Carole's original design (part of the challenge is to change at least two things): a) different colors, i.e. ink & paper, b) added stickers to dry embossed background instead of brads and white gel pen, c) used sticker border along middle DP section instead of CS.

RECIPE
Stamps: Perfect Presentation (Level 2 Hostess, pg. 20)
Paper: Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit (pg. 176), Wild Wasabi, Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue, and Whisper White CS
Ink: Purely Pomegranate Classic Ink Pad
Embellishments: Regal Rose 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: Paper Piercing Tool/Mat/Template, Cuttlebug and Embossing Folder
Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals
Techniques: Paper Piercing, Dry Embossing
