Disney Cruise Treats, Inspired by a Card: Merry Everything

Happy Thursday!  I'm so excited, we're officially on vacation and get to board the Disney Dream in just a few short hours.  I have to say our family loves all things Disney, and especially Disney Cruising, it really is relaxing and magical!!  One thing that really sets Disney apart is the service they provide, the Castmembers (CM), aka cruise staff, really go above and beyond to make your trip special.  In return we really like to do a little something for our dining room staff, stateroom host, and the kid's club personnel to let them know we appreciate their efforts.  For this trip I made these little treat bags filled with goodies (since we've been told the CM's don't have a lot of space and access to everyday items).  Of course I had to decorate it up and I received a wonderful card from my friend Michelle Suit, and knew it would be perfect for the cruise.  I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to stamp on the bag and then used lots of different punches to make the pirate Mickey.  The tag is a sneak peak of the new Merry Everything stamp set and matching punch (which will be released next month in the Holiday catalog).  Then I just used some Basic Black Chevron Ribbon (and retired Real Red Grosgrain ribbon) to make a cute little knot.

Here's a picture of Michelle's original card, isn't it beyond cute?  I kept the colors and most elements the same since they were perfect but I did downsize the punches to make the Mickey head a little smaller for the bag.  You could easily use these bags for birthday or holiday treats, or just to let someone know you're thinking of them.

I know the CM's will love the treats and we're looking forward to a fabulous time.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge: Bright & Beautiful

Happy Wednesday!  We've reached the mid point of the week and boy do I have something special for you.  Today I decided to play along with the Hand Stamped Sentiments color challenge which totally had me thinking of Christmas so I decided to share a sneak peak at a brand new stamp set that will be in the new Holiday catalog that's released next week (and give you the opportunity to get this set for FREE, see later for all the details).

For this card I started with Baked Brown Sugar for the card base and then added a layer of Garden Green cardstock under the Whisper White layer.  On this I used the new Bright & Beautiful stamp set and used Stampin' Write Markers to color in the greeting before stamping and then used the Encore Gold ink to stamp the two small snowflakes on the Whisper White Piece.

For the main focal piece I stamped the largest star on Baked Brown Sugar cardstock with the same color ink and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Star Collection Framelits.  Next I took a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock and stamped the next size down star in Versamark ink and then embossed it with the Heat Tool and Gold Embossing Powder.  I added a Garden Green candy Dot from the Regals Candy Dots and attached the smaller star to the larger one using dimensionals.

I really liked how this card turned out and it's got lots of elements to help really make it stand out, so it would be a great holiday card (have you decided on what cards your making for the holidays???  I'm behind and haven't even started).

Now I know I told you have the opportunity to get this brand new stamp set for FREE before it's even released for sale.  Here are the details:

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: A Day at the Ballpark

Good morning!  I hope you had a great weekend.  We had a very rare weekend with nothing planned and everyone at home so we took advantage and relaxed and took care of a few things around the house, which thankfully included some crafting time which felt wonderful!  It's Monday so it's time for another challenge over on the Stampin' Stylin' INKspiration blog and this week it's the scrapbook sketch challenge.  I have to admit with everything going on I haven't been working on my layouts as I would like but I'll be making up for that soon.  Today's page is a nice and simple one from when we attended a Phillies/Nationals game last year.  It was a perfect day and we had a great time cheering our team on.

Once again I went to My Digital Studio for this page and used a picture of the field that I took for the background as for an accent behind the photo (I lowered the level of opacity for a softer look).  Everything else was pretty straight forward.  Here's the sketch we were provided by Jennifer.  Make sure to go check out all the other great layouts the design team is sharing and play along for lots of fun.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Card Sketch Challenge: Peachy Keen

Good morning and Happy Friday!  I know I said this yesterday but I really am loving this cooler weather, we’ve even had the AC off and the windows open which is fabulous.  We’re looking forward to an exciting weekend, going to try to go river tubing which is a first for us as a family and I haven’t done it since I was a kid so it should be beautiful and relaxing.  Before we get started on all our weekend fun I have my card to share for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.  This was a really fun sketch to play along with and I really let our DSP and colors drive the direction of this card.

I started with Hello Honey for the card base and then added a piece of Night of Navy cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Polka Dot embossing folder.  Next I added a piece of designer series paper from the Flowerpot DSP and I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits to cut out the shape along the bottom of the DSP.  Next I added a piece of Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon.

For the stamped image I used the Peach Keen stamp set, stamped it in Hello Honey on Whisper White Cardstock and then cut it out with the Circle Collection Framelits before making a mat with Lost Lagoon Cardstock and the Windows Collection Framelits and then embossed it with the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder.  The greeting was attached to the cardfront with dimensionals (yes I do that all the time, can’t help myself!).

This card is nice and soft with the flowers but then a fun greeting which I really like.  Make sure to check out all the other cards the design team is sharing, I’ve seen a few already and I love them.  Do you’re weekend plans including a little stamping time?  If so we would love for you to come play along with our sketch challenge, it’s lots of fun!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration August Blog Hop: SSI Team Convention Swaps

Good morning!  It's that time again, time for this month's Stylin Stampin' INKspiration Blog hop.  This month all the designers are sharing the cards we made for a swap we have during convention last month.  It was so fun seeing several of the ladies at convention since most of us we only know from online and the ladies are so fabulous they really had some beautiful cards.

As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number (#5) on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Kim R. of Stamping with Kim.  If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

So you may know by know that one of the stamp sets in the new catalog that I was o excited to see was the Boys will be Boys stamp set (I love the Lego image and all the other "boy" images).  For my swap card I decided to use this set and the Legos but use some non-classic colors to change things up.  I started with Hello Honey Cardstock for the cardbase and I embossed it with the Big Shot and the Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper that was matted with Tangelo Twist cardstock. I used some Strawberry Slush Thick Baker's Twine to wrap around the DSP.

For the main stamped image I used Momento ink to stamp the Legos on Whisper White cardstock (I love this ink as it's great for watercoloring to ensure no bleeding).  I colored in the Legos with Stampin' Write Markers and then punched it out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and made a mat with Tempting Turquoise cardstock and the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits.  The greeting is from the same stamp set, stamped in Strawberry Slush ink and punched out with the Modern Label Punch and was attached to the card front with dimensionals.

This card is so fun and perfect for someone who's a kid at heart, no matter the age.  I hope you enjoyed my project and easy ordering links for all the products used on this card are below:
