Love is in the Air

I am not really into a lot of the Valentine's Day hype as some people are, but I do think it is a great opportunity to take pause and be grateful for the ones we love and to do something a little special for them. Thinking about making a card for a wonderful man who has been in my life for 32 years, 26 of them as my hubby, I came across two challenges Just Add Ink romance challenge, and Just Us Girls
"Love" challenge ... perfect for what I had in mind.

I recently caved in and bought myself the Large Letters Framelits and was itching to try and eclipse card with them. I knew I wanted to incorporate the cute little hedgehogs from a previous hostess set as my hubby absolutely loves hedgehogs.  I have to say this card turned out, if anything, better than I had expected! I knew I wanted the little hedgehogs to be peeking out from behind the letters, initially thinking I would use the SAB Party Pandas, but swapping it over to the hedgehogs. I may still do one with pandas!

I coloured the hedgehogs with Stampin' Blends and added a little heart to each pair using the Owl Builder Punch.  So this card is a mix of shiny new toys and old favourites!

Now just have to keep it secret until Valentine's Day, but I think that is pretty safe as he never visits my blog :).

CTC 65 - Be My Valentine

Welcome to another CASE-ing The Catty challenge hop, this week is all about Valentine's and we are taking inspiration from anywhere within the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogues.  I am also entering this card in the Just Us Girls Valentine's challenge.

I have chosen the card on the right of the above image from page 38 of the Occasions Catalogue.

I decided to use the gorgeous Have A Cuppa DSP Stack on page 35 of the catalogue and stayed with the monochromatic colour pallet  with Bermuda Bay, White and a hint of grey and silver. I did use the same stamp set as the original from Going Global which has such a lovely sentiment.

Here it is up close, you can see that I have re-stamped the image and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder onto Bermuda Bay card stock, then cut out just the banner which is attached with some Dimensionals. You might be able to see the Wink of Stella that I have added to the banner, spotting the same treatment to all the little hearts is a bit hard in the photo, but it looks lovely in person.

Each week we invite you to join us by creating a project inspired by anything Valentine in either the Occasions or the SAB catalogues then add a link to your project on the main CTC website here:

Thanks for visiting my blog, time to hop on over to Kathryn's blog to see what she has inspired to create.

Pocket Sketch Challenge

I liked this cute little sketch from the Pocket Sketch Challenge, even though I did have to adjust my measurements to our metric sizes!
I chose the cute sentiment from the Going Global stamp set and went with the lovely bright and cheerful Real Red to really show it off for Valentine's Day.  I sponged a sheet of Going Places DSP to add some colour to match.  I stamped the background with the cute little heart stamp from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set.

Up close you can see the red glimmer paper I used for the horizontal strip, and punched a small heart out of it to accent the sentiment.  The heart is from the Owl Builder Punch and is just the right size.

Bloodsplatter Valentine!

Just a quick post today - I made the decision on Monday to join in with Less Is More and Friday Mashup Challenges.  Unfortunately the mashup is from the week before (where does time go?)!!! The mashup was to use hearts and arrows and combine it with colour combo of Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake.

Here is my card, I realised as I finished it off and looked at all the elements together that the background Gorgeous Grunge stamp does look a little like blood splatter!  However my daughter loves it and will use it for her Valentine this year!  We decided the best thing to write on the inside is "I love you to death"!

Double Challenge

The first thing I thought of when I saw this colour combo was snowflakes and Christmas, but honestly I just can't face doing another Christmas card or project for a while!!!  So skipping forward the next celebration is Valentine's Day - even though it is not as big a deal here in Australia as it is in the US, it is nice to let that certain someone know you love and appreciate them.  This sketch also gave me another chance to use my new Pretty Petites stamp set and matching punch from upcoming Sale-A-Bration!!!  The sentiment is from Wacky Wishes, and I would have liked to stamp it in Pool Party also but it just got lost on the page, so I went with black.

I hope you like my creation and pop on over to the two challenge blogs to see what others have created.
