Fall Cottonwood

Hallo,

   Another painting today inspired by some pics I took in Nebraska in October this year of cottonwood trees.

  Encaustic wax with oil sticks and then used hot pens and encaustic and more oil sticks.

Color blocks

Hallo,
 I have my latest encaustic wax painting s to show you today -  a pair of 12 by 12 inch paintings.
I started with many layers of colorful wax and then started carving squares into the different layers of color. I added some swirly lines in the deep purple layer to connect the squares.
  A funky and fun pair of paintings!!!
  Its been a tough couple weeks here - my DH's sister and her family were in a major car accident on Friday of 4th of July weekend. We lost her Hubby and she is still in ICU on the breathing machine. Both the kids are doing well physically - My Hubby and Daughter went and spent the first week with them and a bunch of the family. My kiddos are both the same ages as hubby sisters kiddos .
  Say a few prayers for them all would you please!!!!

Encaustic class - John C. Campbell

 Hallo,
   On our last day of encaustic class at the folk school we each put out all our paintings from the week and we had our own mini art show. I took pics of every table and closer ups of some of my favorites - not all but a few...
  The first pic is my table - from the side. And then everyone else's  - it never ceases to amaze me how we all have a different view and end up with such different art.
  We had a very talented group here !!!

Studio play

 Hallo,
   I cannot believe it has been so long since I have posted - still getting used to my new job and 8 hour shifts every weekday....thought I had it down and last week went by and I was tired and lazy all week. My only excuse is that I got my flu shot on Monday and on Wednesday got an update to my measles/mumps/rubella shot so between the 2 .....
   I do have a few projects in the works and had a good day playing at the studio yesterday - did a couple small pieces and some general cleaning and reorganizing .The  pics were taken with my phone so the last 2 are a bit blurry.
  I plan to frame these pieces - one group in 4 matching frames and the other group together in one frame so I will take pictures again then. The last 2 pics are of my studio - I added the peg board shelf so I could hang some more of my work in my space as well as my space on the wall in the 'gallery' room.
  These 2 groups are  done with 4 by 4 inch squares.
   All for today - its a rainy day here in NW Florida so I plan on playing in the craft room ALL DAY!!!!! (if there is a break in the rain I will get the pups a walk but today is for play!!!)

Vintage wax

 Hallo,
   Well I had a good day playing with wax in my studio yesterday. the first 3 pics show some panels I have been working on - or rather they got to this point and I really liked them but they didn't feel 'done' so I set them aside and just waited.
  Well Thursday when my friend Pat and I went shopping I found a nice stencil and decided to try it on a few of these panels and see how they looked.
   So the next few pics show how they look now with a bit of red wax applied with the stencil and now I do believe they are done (except for framing) I plan to frame these 4 up in a group in the same frame and the last 4 I will add some more design with a stencil but probably do the last 4 all in different colors because I plan to frame them all separately.
  The last 2 pictures are of another painting in the same style as these, only it is 12 by 12 inches instead of 8 by 8.
   All for today - time for me to get some sleep for the day, it is going to be a long weekend - I am not used to working 3  12 hour shifts in a row anymore.....

Wax and Whine

 Hallo,
   Wax first then you can leave if you don't want any whine :)
  More pieces of encaustic wax from my class yesterday....I did a few in black and gray onto white paper and then teal, purple and silver onto white paper (which are my favorite, no surprise....).
  Hard to get good pictures - too much glare outside, not enough light without flash inside....
  Up on the Etsy shop later tonight....


Ok - now the whine - day started out good, puppy took me for an hour walk with my neighbor and her little girl and the dogs (she is dog sitting this week so had 2 instead of her normal 1)
   Then I ate breakfast and got cleaned up and tried to head for the door - planning to get to Wal-Mart at 9 when the vision center opened (I didn't sleep well last night so got up to write down the to-do list that was running through my head, in hopes of sleeping after I wrote the list down and broke my glasses in the process....and didn't sleep anyhow because my hip and legs started cramping.....sigh)
   So instead of getting off to Wally world my stomach decided to act up  and I spent 2 hours "reading a magazine" - between throwing up anyhow (IBS is such a lovely thing sometimes)
   So once things settled down and I had enough energy to walk I headed once more for the door only to back into someone backing out of my driveway.....I haven't had a fender bender in over 10 years.....grrrrr.......so by the time I got to Wal-Mart it was almost 11 and mobbed - not only got my glasses fixed but ordered a second pair (which I need because I cant even read without them but we didn't need the cost right now - thank-you to our wonderful government for yet another shut-down and who knows if we will get DH's next retirement check or next paycheck for that matter.....) - got some groceries at Wal-Mart because the commissary on base was not a happy place today.....
   Came home and tried to get into the craft room and get a few things done but kept getting sleepy so I put together these frames instead.....
  Some computer time and downloaded Skype to my phone and computer finally - in hopes that DD has time tonight for a quick chat with her ma....
   Ok - I am done whining - tomorrow I am GOING to get some stuff done in the craft room!!!!

Encaustic Addiction...and craft room pics

 Hallo,
   Well it is 130 pm and I worked last night and haven't been to sleep yet - going to try and stay up until normal people bedtime now because if I do go to sleep I will be down for the count and probably wake up at 3 am, wide awake.
   I had an art class this am from 9 till noon - encaustic wax painting. I took this same class last year at this time and since I haven't quite got my craft room completed yet, I decided to take it again.
   The first pic is a group of my least favorite from today - I started with my favorite colors - purple and teal and those turned out really well, then I decided to switch colors and did some in red and green and then did 2 of them over in mostly reds.....
   The second photo is the very last one I did today because after going back to the purples and teals, I was determined to get something in reds done that I liked and I do like this one - gold, red and orange.
   The second one in a frame I did with light purples and silver and then used a rubber stamp of an oriental woman and dipped her into melted dark purple wax and quickly stamped her onto the background.
  The last 2 wax pics - 2 groupings of 4- are my favorite of the day and will probably go into a frame sometime very soon!!!
   The last 4 pics are of my new craft space (i.e. - DD's former room :) Its not totally finished but about 98% for IN the craft room - I am going to still be taking up some space in the dining room (aka old craft room) until I can get a move on and start doing some more stuff :)
   Okay dokay - I had better get out of this chair and keep moving or sleepys will catch up to me....
