Will's Birthday Bash

The main reason I went up to visit my parents was to take part in his birthday bash! He turned 60! Here is an amusing video of the cake. You can hear Claire saying "SPOON PLEASE" because she wants to eat some cake! Check it out:

Catrece Turns One!

We had a very busy weekend! Claire (and I) attended the birthday party of her friend Catrece! She was turning one.

Claire enjoyed Catrece's little kitchen! Yay for playing with some one else's toys.

Catrece is doing an awesome job pushing her little stroller around.

Claire was being shy and not wanting to pose, but Catrece was being a good sport!

Partying with Pierce!

Claire had a great time playing on Pierce's new playset that he just got!

Claire is in love with shoes, as she is with other accessories. She will demand these which she calls "yellow" or her pink croc sandals which she calls "Barbie!"

It was a little tricky, but Claire figured out how to press the pedal to make the car go. Claire is also in love with cars. I would love to snag a Power Wheel for her at a garage sale for a good deal. She would love it!

This is Pierce opening his Elmo books from Claire. As you can see, Claire is paying close attention! :)

Claire helped Pierce open a few things. This was good practice for her bday coming up in July. She also enjoyed helping him play with some of his new toys. She also ate an entire scoop of mint-chocolate chip ice cream, which was the first time she'd had that flavor. She loved it! YUMMY!

Claire and I had a good time at Pierce's party! :)

Busy Busy Busy Weekends

So LAST weekend, I went to the LLL conference early Sat. morning in Avon, IN, which was really informative. I suck up info like a sponge! One of the Castleton group leaders Lisa, did a birthing presentation. She had actually had an evening at her house where some regular group members (including myself) watched a birthing video and had a little discussion about that and lotus birth. So I thought most of the info would be repeated, but everything she presented was pretty much new to me.

Then I went to one session on becoming a breastfeeding advocate which talked about the breastfeeding coalitions in place in Indiana, which are trying to get more mothers to initiate breastfeeding and increase the duration of breastfeeding, which are pretty similar to what LLL is about, as well! One of the interesting points brought up in this sessions was how obesity is on the rise in America, and not so coincidentally we also have the lowest breastfeeding rates at 6 and 12 months, etc. Anyway, they also had goodies to buy and a silent auction...all good stuff there...like books, awesome toddler toys, and cool LLL things like a handmade needlepoint of the LLL mommy/babby nursing pair.

THEN after a catered lunch there of Fazolis (which Claire loved the breadsticks) she and I drove scenic old 40 to Terre Haute, IN, which was only about an hour from Avon. Claire had crashed hard from running around playing with other little toddlers that morning (PLUS getting up super early to get to the conference!), so while she continued to car nap, I drove around my college stomping grounds and some of our old apartments! It was so different!

Claire and I visited my old boss Debbi, then headed to the "main attraction"--Pierce's 2nd Birthday party! Pierce is the son of college friends Jeremy and Stephanie. The theme was Little Einstein's, and he had a very cool little cake! Claire then had an awesome time running around in his backyard and trying out his sandbox and other toys! She was actually able to get his Power Wheels car to drive, but kept running into stuff because the concept of steering has yet to come. She was just in the fenced in backyard, though! I have some pictures I will try to post soon of this. I also have some videos of that...plus wedding/Easter footage...but who knows if/when I'll get around to posting that!

A Holiday Party!

On Saturday, Josh and I attended his company Holiday Party. My parents came down to Valpo to babysit Claire. Here we are before leaving! It was a nice date for us!

The party was downtown in Indy. It was at an awesome hotel. http://www.crowneplaza.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hotel/INDDT?&gclid=CLuw0bfKspcCFRyenAod1BdKjg&dp=true They have train car "rooms" that you can rent. We didn't stay the night, but my parents stayed there last year and watched Claire on site for us. They are so awesome. That way I could just slip out to nurse her a few times without worrying about her not taking a bottle. Here we are in the hotel lobby. These pictures suck because they are with my camera phone.

Here are some people we played Black Jack with, which we played forever. I <3 Blackjack. The theme this year was Casino night. It's a rocking theme because you can learn to play all the games for free! Plus, it's fun.

Our dealer was awesome. She was totally letting us all win since it wasn't for real money. We started with "$2,000" in chips. By the end of the night we were able to cash in our chips for about 20 raffle tickets which cost "$1,000" each. Too bad it wasn't for real cash! We also played some roulette. They also had Caribbean Stud Tables, poker, and craps. We didn't get around to any of those this time. We didn't want to leave our favorite dealer! :) Josh actually won one of the raffle prizes, which was a $50 Kroger gift card. Yay! We can definitely use that on some stuff! I took a picture of my big old pile of gold chips. The gold ones were worth $500. Oh, and the other fun thing about the Holiday parties: FREE DRINKS! :) Notice my empty glass ;)

The food was also incredibly awesome. They had a buffet with several stations of food including Jumbo shrimp the size of a small child. They had a mashed potato bar, a pasta bar, a stir-fry bar, and traditional meats (turkey, roast beef, pork loin stuffed with spinach and lobster, or ham, all carved just for you). They also had salads, fruits, cheeses...and desserts to die for...included mini-cheesecake bites, various big cakes, and my personal favorites...strawberries dipped in dark chocolate. Yes, we shall find time to attend this yearly event! Plus Josh got his Christmas bonus check at the party. Yay! It was a great night, and Claire had a ball with my parents! :)

Cloth Diaper Party

Claire and I went to a cloth diaper party. Think Tupperware, but with Diapers.

Her eyes are shut, but her smile is still cute! Now if she would look and smile for pictures...

Claire says, "Bald is beautiful!" Jordan and I even have coordinating outfits!

Claire loved to smack this water play mat. And it couldn't get anyone wet! That was the best part!

Some of the other LLL mommies ready to check out the cloth diapers! (Kelly, Cherish, baby Sarah at 8 weeks, and Patty)

What a sweet big sister! :) This picture is so adorable! (Ally, Aidan, and Rachel)

I did not buy anymore cloth diapers, but enjoyed learning about what products and accessories are out there to go with them.
