Polka Dotted Tights

Dot tights are all the rage this fall. Emanuel Ungaro went funky with silver metallic dots, while Balenciaga kept it simple with black sheer ones. There are so many options when it comes to dots, which is great news for polka dot lovers. I might just be the only woman in D.C. who loves wearing standout tights. I have hope that many of the city's fabulous fashionistas will warm up to the idea of patterned tights because it's one of winter's best accessories. I read that Tim Gunn thinks so too! See, all the more reason to get on board.

Kate Spade Tights

I think part of the success of the fall Kate Spade ad campaign is the wonderful use of colorful tights. It keeps the outfits young, fresh, playful, and whimsical. My daughter Kate who is also my co-blogger and a fashion stylist was remarking that the styling of this campaign is allowing Kate Spade to tap into a younger demographic who had not worn the label before. The good news is that these tights are now being offered by Kate Spade. Aren't they fun?

Fall Trend: Lady in Red

Red absolutely stole the spotlight on many of the runway shows from Christian Dior to Alexander McQueen. Bright rich tones are a big trend for fall. Red is by far one of the most important colors to be incorporating into your wardrobe. I like the combination of red and black as shown as Giambattista Valli; there's a modern and sexy elegance. I've always thought of red as a glamorous choice for night, but now love the idea of wearing plenty of it for day too. Don't be surprised if men approach you even more since they're known to gravitate towards women in this saucy color. Red is not only popular in clothing, but in accessories too. Shoes (particularly patent) and bags (Valentino, Prada) are making a fiery statement. Even red lips are a woman's best accessory these days. What's fabulous about red is that its varying shades look beautiful on almost every skin tone. Though red has never been a staple color in my closet, after seeing how vibrant it appears on the runways, I'm convinced it's fabulous. Every woman should at the very least have a Chanel red lipstick in their makeup bag. It's an instant pick me up and an inexpensive way to feel desirous. Now check out the runway shots where red can be anything from romantic and soft to modern and fierce.
