CR84FN16 ~ With Sympathy

Such pretty colors this week at CR84FN16 and such Beautiful inspiration cards from our CR84FN Design Team and our Guest Designer ~ Stella ~ all posted in the sidebar!  Check them out, leave some LOVE, and then make something Pretty and Come Play with Us!

Unfortunately I needed to make a sympathy card.  I'm always unsure of what colors are "appropriate."  But then I thought of my grieving friend and how much she LOVES the flowers in her garden and house and I decided to use this week's color palette.  Turns out I was so right and my card gave her comfort.  Here it is:

I used a flower that I stamped with versamark and embossing powder, colored with copics and cut out all to serve as my focal point.  I KNOW I didn't color the violet the "right" way according to Copic but I love how it turned out just the same.  Personally I have found that I like to have the image outlined with embossing powder because the ink doesn't bleed and it's easier to color in the lines!  After I colored the violet, I ran it through my Cuttlebug with my PTI woodgrain impression plate.  It really added that something extra!

I found the doily in my baking drawer when I went to make brownies for my husband for Valentine's Day.  Waste the doily on brownies???  No WAY!  I could use it on a card ~ compliments of Wilton!
Can you see the embossing of Swiss Dots on the upper half of the pink?  I chose to have the dots go in instead of out.  I liked the subtle texture on this card better than the raised dots.  The ribbon is from Making Memories and sure to be a FAV in my ribbon collection!  Also in this sideways view you can better see the pale pink rhinestones on the little stamped damask images and the center of the violet which is popped up.
This is the inside of the card.  I just LOVE this sentiment for a sympathy card because it really is so hard to know what to say at a tragic time like this.  Sorry to be such a downer but I DID feel really good to be able to use my love of cardmaking to let my friend KNOW I was there if she needed anything!

I hope you like my card!  Let me know!

A very beautiful card, the colouring is beautiful, and I don't think there is a right or wrong way to colour - we all have our different techniques that work for us. I like the inverted swiss dots too.

So sorry for your friends loss, nobody likes to make sympathy cards but yours is perfect. The flower is gorgeous love how you colored it in and what a great idea embossing it to give texture.

A perfect card for a sad situation. It could only help as it is such an elegant design and I love your copic colouring, surely it's whatever works for you. Glad you noted the ink colour you used, I was abit unsure what "mid violet' was but Rich Razzleberry will do the trick.

love embossing the flower stamp-never thought to do that to keep the copics from bleeding.

also, the impression plate gives the flower great texture-lovely card, sue:)

What a beautiful card, Sue! Embossing your image before coloring is a really good idea. I'm sure to use that tip a lot! The lacy doily is the perfect touch. :)

I can't add or say anything that has not already been expressed! Sympathy cards ARE hard to make, but yours is done very elegantly! The colors are beautiful, and the embossing on the big flower is excellent! The coloring of the flower is beautiful, and the sentiment is PERFECT! But the best thing about the whole card is the love and care that went into it!!!
