Christmas Time

Hello - Helle from www.mycreativehideout.com has seized control of the blog this fine 3. Sunday in Advent.

I want to show you what I've been up to this past week. It involves these:

I fell in love with them instantly and knew exactly what I wanted to used them for.

Christmas Tags for this years presents!

I used the Tag Thanks Latte and stripped away everything but the scalloped base and the inside circle.

I didn't feel like making a very detailed tag because I felt the dome, the glitter and the small image inside the dome was details enough.

I used DCWV "Christmas Plaid" paper and Tim Holtz Ideaology Gold Kraft-Stock for the tag.

Inside the dome is a print and cut motive of pinecones with branches from Carta Bella's "Let it Snow" collection along with Diamond Sugar Dust from Craft Décor.

I embossed and sanded the gold paper for effect and used gold twine to tie it unto the presents.

And I didn't stop here…..

I was on a roll with these domes and decided to use them for this years place cards for the Christmas Table:

The place cards are the JGW Snowflake Placecards.

They are made from Kraft Cardstock, Ideaology Gold Paper, white pearl paper and Best Creation White Glitter Paper.

Inside the dome is a print and cut from Carta Bella's "Christmas Delivery" collection and Diamond Sugar Dust from Craft Décor. I also wrote "Merry Christmas" in Danish.

Instead of using a candy inside the tag, I used snowflake printed vellum to write the names and decorated with a border of a snowflake circle (design ID #34350) I found in the Silhouette Design Store.

Then, for a fun detail, I placed a small led light inside the tag:

It's a bit hard to see in the picture, but it really lights up the name nicely.

As a final detail, I tied some gold tinsel on top of the place card.

And there….I'm all set for Christmas now.

Thanks for joining me today. I'm back again next Sunday for a final Christmas project.

Warning: Not for the faint of heart!

My last Halloween post - this year. Going out with a bang or maybe a kill….so to speak!

Ever since the Spring when SVG Attic released the Make a Splash kit, I knew what I wanted to do with the 3D Bath Tub.

Knowing my evil, crooked mind, you would too….MUAHAHAHAHA

Halloween of course - but what does a bath tub have to do with Halloween?

Setting the scene: A woman is taking a long hot bath in the tub/shower and is not seeing the figure coming into the room with a knife in the hand - Next thing….she is being stabbed to death and blood spills all over the tub and shower curtain.

Recognize this scene????

Yes it's the famous shower scene from the movie Psycho - only a little more graphic since it's in color.

I really had fun making this and it did take me a while as I had to figure out how to make the shower curtain.

Using my scout-day skills (LOL) I tied some hibachi skewers onto a metal ring and covered it all with black flourist tape.

Then I added the curtain which is made from vellum and folded here and there to give the impression of a hanging curtain.
The Tub is made from AC Cardstock in Ash and with patterned paper from DCWV's Spooky and Sparkly collection. I also used Silhouette Printable Silver Foil for the faucets. I created the top shower head myself out of the bottom faucet and some circles I stacked together.
I then painted the inside of the tub to make it all white and a tiny bit shiny. Once that was dry, I went to town with the blood splatter - using a brush and some red paint. The bloody handprint on the curtain is made from red vinyl.
The shower mat and the knife are both from the Silhouette Design Store (Knife: Design ID #116580 by Studio Ilustrado and Mat: Design ID #1565 by Silhouette)
I know this isn't for the faint of heart, but it was so much fun for me to make and to able to actually create an idea that just pops into my head, is fantastic.

I do hope you've enjoyed this bloody project and all the other Halloween projects I've made throughout the month. Thank you so much for joining me and my vivid imagination.

Now it's time to turn my attention towards something else.

Sunflower Box with a Twist

Hello all! Sonja with Sugar Bean Cards here with my latest project. August means sunflowers around here, well peaches too, but I wanted to focus on sunflowers this round.

My inspiration for this sunflower box comes from some sunflower fields we have about 45 minutes from our house. Seeing a field filled with rows upon rows of yellow vibrant flowers and a summer sunset can't get any better!

I started with one sheet of Pineapple Bliss by Bazzill Basics Paper for the larger petals. I distressed the edges slightly with a bit of Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
Next I decided to use some copper embossing powder by Recollections to embellish the smaller petals that are cut in the Grapefruit Bliss by  Bazzill Basics Paper.
Then I started assembly after cutting out the box base from DCWV's 11" x 17" Heirloom Cardstock Premium stack. What I loved about this stack was that it is double sided so it cut down on paper needed for decorating the inside of the box.
Then I decided to add a surprise to the inside of the box for the recipient.
 Final Project:

Pull up on the top of the box and...
The tag and flowers are all embossed with copper to match the copper detailing on the smaller petals.

Luck & Love for St. Patrick's Day

FTC disclaimer: I received some of these products for free but was not compensated for writing this post. To view my complete disclaimer, click here

St. Patrick's Day is among us! Hello all, I-team member Sonja here with my latest post. Looking at the calendar, I decided to put some of my St. Patrick's day stamps to use. I received a bunch for free a few years back and this is my first time pulling one out. I know shame on me!

After picking out the two files I wanted to do from SnapDragon Snippets website, I decided the perfect paper to go with these files would be some bright colors from Bazzill Papers.

For the card, I used (1) Juicy Pear, (1) Easter Grass, and (1) Flintstone
After cutting the shoe shape out with the Silhouette Cameo 3, I grabbed my Craftwell eBrush to float in some color.

Next I wanted some texture on my shoe so I ran it through my Sizzix Big Shot with a Darice swirl embossing folder.

For the tag, I changed out the sentiment that comes with the file so that I could use my stamp.
Below the photo shows the difference with the embossing powder once heat is started to be applied to the stamp.
I decided to distress the edges of the tag just to break up the blank space on it.
 Final Projects:

At the last minute, I decided this card needed a lucky treat bag to go with it!

Christmas Dress Form ~ with Cyndy G

Hello today I am bringing you a project I made with files from SVG Attic.  I created this beautiful Christmas Dress Form using the dressmakers mannequin and mannequin skirt cage from the JGW Just Sew kit, the branches of the Noble Fir from the O Christmas Tree SVGA kit and the Poinsettias from JGW Poinsettia Passion.

Dress Form

The paper I used is DCWV Cranberry Christmas - it is just beautiful.  I got it at Michaels and it will be on sale next week for $5.  What a great deal!

Pumpkins in the Pumpkin patch ~ with Cyndy G

Hello today I am sharing with you some cute and super easy to assemble pumpkins from SVG Attic.  These are from the JGW Pumpkin Grin kit.  I just love how these came out.

Pumpkin treat boxes

These can be used for fall decor or you can fill them with treats and give them out.  They were so quick and easy to put together you could make several in no time at all.  My favorite kind of project.

I used several different patterned papers.  I think these would cute made with some kraft paper too.  The possibilities are limitless.

Spring brings Mother's Day!

Hello SVG Attic Fans! I-Team member Sonja here with a Mother's day/spring project. Mother's day is a day I rarely remember! I know, bad. I am usually way more excited to celebrate other holiday's that are aimed at other people though!

I decided to make a happy little Mother's day gift, using Gaby's Garden and JGW Blooming Card Kit files.

I love Gaby's Garden because of the little shovel, the flowers/pot, and the hat that is in the file.
Since I already did the hat for an Easter project though, I decided to switch it out for this great card.
I like the that tools are able to be removed from this card. I just like to have some movement with my cards so this satisfied that need!
A little tip. Knowing that I wanted to arrange these to stand up in a bunch, I took a dozen q-tips, painted them green with my eBrush and the centers whatever color I wanted for my flower and arranged them that way instead of using paper.
