Link Love 86!

As I was predicated there were less links this time, but I am going to share the link loves as usual!

When you get junk mail what do you do? Toss it in the garbage can? When you see the snowflakes created by Grow Creative you might think twice before throwing away junk mail! I think the bunch of colors and letters gives the snowflakes a more interesting look. I love them!

Melly Sews created this pretty pleated pouch. Her great tutorial on her blog made the process look so easy to do.

I know it is too late to make this for the New Year now, but I love this idea by Homework! We can make the tags for a countdown for other special days too such as birthdays or anniversaries? The use of glitter is perfect for simple tags and numbers. I love how she doesn't "overdo" on her projects.

Are you looking for some inspiration for your next quilt project? BGmom1 shared her colorful and modern quilt with us.

I actually never heard of the movie called "Moonrise Kingdom" before, but I certainly love what Skirt as Top created inspired by the film. She shares details of what patterns or what materials she used in her post. Her attention to detail is hands down the best!

Thank you everyone who participated for this link party. I hope you all will have a happy new year!

((hugs)) :) Sachiko

Link Love No.75!

If you haven't enter for the ONA's camera insert giveaway, head over here and do so! :)

The past couple of days I have been doing Christmas shopping. I am scheduled for another procedure in the beginning of December, and usually it takes a week or two for me to recover. If I wait until the last minutes, my kids may not have any gifts under the tree! That won't be good...

I am almost done, and I want tell you, it feels good. :)

OK, here are the link loves for this week;

n'stitchs designs shared a step by step well explained tutorial on how to make a pen case. I bet you want to add this to your gift idea for Christmas.

Sometimes, it takes a little bit of an inventive idea to create something fun. Created by Cori shares her cupcake Christmas wreath with us. Isn't this so easy and fun to make? There are many different cupcake papers now, you can make a wreath for any occasion in no time.

I love this shirt... Little Amara Design shares how she made this cute little shirt for her daughter. This is such a nice way to customize a shirt with a hint of classiness for the little one.

I have a thing for flowers (as you can tell by the name of my blog), and I just LOVE this book page roses! Twigg Studios did such a wonderful job creating these flowers, so pretty!

Are you ready for Thanksgiving? When I first came to America, I didn't know what Thanksgiving was. Now I know, and I really appreciate the meaning of it too. There is so much time and effort put into preparing for this special holiday, but I am all for making it simple and enjoying the time with my family instead of getting frustrated and overwhelmed... The Letter 4 shared how to make this fabulous cornucopia out of store bought frozen dough. Beautiful work!

Thank you for your participation everyone, I will see you next week!

Link Love No.72!

Hello, hello friends, how has your week been? I am still on the path of recovery, but enjoy doing more for my family and of course some sewing now. Where I live, the scenery has changed so much in the past few weeks and I love looking at the beautiful fall colors outside.

There were many fall and Halloween projects and recipes on this week's link party. I enjoyed them a lot, thank you for your participation!

Here are the 5 loves for this week.

I love how pretty and easy it is to make this wreath! Polka Dot Bungalow shared a step by step tutorial on her blog. Great job!

I couldn't resist the cuteness...meet baby princess Leia from Lauren Inspired. Simply irresistible, hands down cute!

First of all, I must say I love unique titles. See Kate Sew shared her "Sweatshirt Liposuction" project with us. At first I thought "What?", then, the picture on her blog post explains it all... funny. The result of this operation is big but "smaller in size" success too!

Our Home's Cool shared this fun scrappy lampshade with us. I love the look of this lampshade, but fell in love with the effect on the sealing when the light is on. Head over to her blog to see what I am talking about.

I have been going through our house to organize for a few months now (on and off). It was pretty easy except for Mr.TRH and my closet. I kept finding clothes that I think I can make it into something and it is just so hard to put them in the "throw away" or "donate" bag. Anyways...Orlosubito did such a wonderful job turning a man's shirt into a pretty tunic. I love the simplicity of it. Thank you for sharing!

See you at the next post everyone!

Link Love No. 71!

I don't know what it is with me, but lately I have been sewing like I am possessed. I am taking it easy, but if I have any time left, I will be sewing.

I am slowly recovering from the angiogram, and I guess subconsciously I want to squeeze in as much as sewing time as possible before having another procedure.

The thing is, I am enjoying sewing so much so that I keep forgetting to take pictures of the process for my tutorials. I am sewing to sew. I will share the finished pictures later (probably after I get better from the next procedure).

Link Love No. 71 had lots of fall decorations and goodies; have you all visited them?

Ok, here are the link loves for this week.

I can't believe Christmas is only a couple months away... around this time I am always thinking about what to do for Christmas gifts for my girlfriends. I was thinking about making coin purses like this one... Originate and Renovate, used a pattern from Amy Butler's book and made such a pretty coin purse. Looking at her pictures made me wanna make this coin purse even more!

Have you ever wondered how to make rock candy? I have! Glue Sticks solved the mystery for me and shared how to make rock candy. What a fun project to do with kids! Thank you for sharing.

I am not big into Halloween decorations, but I fell in LOVE with this crow garland shared by Homework. What do I love about this garland? I love her use of colors, the circles, and the crows add a "Halloweenish" feel without being over powering.

I would love to have it on my mantle.

Another fun Halloween decoration that caught my eye was shared by Just Peachy. What? Did I mention FREE printables? Yes, isn't she so nice? She has more printables on her blog, but these are my favorites!

I AM IN LOVE! Restore Interiors shared her beautiful and unique letters with us. I hopped over to her blog, and saw many beautiful things that totally speak to me. :)

Thank you all for sharing your creations. Happy creating!

Link Love No. 69!

Before posting the link love, let me update on the cookbook "50 bloggers+50 recipes" fund raising for Japan.

Missy from How Does She? emailed me last week and told me the total amount of how much they were able to raise. Can you guess how much? (Wait for it... wait for it...)

A grand total of $20.000!!!

Isn't that amazing or what? Missy wanted me to give my readers, who purchased the cook book for this cause, a big thanks. I also want to say thank you too!

There are two people that deserve a big thanks too... ok, I am posting this part from Missy's email to me...;

"1. Heather, the designer. (heather@chickabug.com)

This project took WAY more time than anticipated. Heather didn't realize what she was saying yes to and we didn't realize what we were asking of her but she pulled through beautifully. She donated 100% of her time and talent designing, editing, redoing, resizing, linking, etc. She is so talented and so fun to work with!

2. Paper Coterie. (melisa.jeffers@papercoterie.com)

They have been SO GENEROUS to print and donate these books. It took our project to the next level and made it so much more successful (the printed book more than doubled the ebook sales). They have many people in their office with family who have been directly impacted by recent disasters and they were excited to support the Red Cross. They have been INCREDIBLE to work with. Did you order a book? These are not cheaply made books. They are beautiful (and packaged beautifully). We have been so impressed with this company that we will hopefully be promoting them as an affiliate in the near future. They have not asked for anything in return, but we are going to add their button to our side bar for free for a while as a very small thanks.

We will collect all the money from the sale of the ebook and from Paper Coterie and make the donation to the American Red Cross. When that is done, we will email the receipt to make it official and so you can all feel proud of what we accomplished!"

Ok, me again... When I read Missy's email I really felt that we all come together and were able to accomplish something incredible. Also, Missy, Heather and the people at Paper Coterie must have put so much work into this project. I have never met them in person, but they all sound like such kind, considerate, compassionate people, you know the kind of people that you want to get to know more...

Thank you again everyone for your support on this!

Ok, link love....

You see this zig-zag or chevron patterns everywhere in blogosphere right now, and I love it! Owen's Olivia shared this pretty painted curtain with us. I love the color gradation and she did such a nice job.

Show Tell Share created this pretty table runner with bleach pen. She shares helpful tips on her blog. I love how this is not overly done; the simpleness of it makes the table runner perfect.

Sigh... Really, do you feel that summer is ending and slowly shifting to fall? I am back into a crazy routine now, and I miss the summer already. Do you have tons of fun pictures from this summer? Originate and Renovate shares a cool way to display the pictures.

I am always gathering ideas for a way to utilize my scraps (I mean fabric scraps, even though I have so many other "scraps" in my house). I thought this cute pinwheel idea shared by All This for Them is a perfect way to use scraps and make something cute. I am thinking about making a hair clip for my little girl with some small pinwheel. :) How fun!

Oh how I LOVE this wall! A Time to Create shared this blue stenciled wall. The pattern is classy and modern, but the color makes it so fresh and hip. How fun it is to have a wall like that in the house. Great thinking!

Thank you all for your participation. Happy creating!

Link Love No.63!

I started making a new quilt a couple days ago. There are so many other things I should be doing, but once the idea came to my mind, I. JUST. HAVE. TO. DO. IT!

It is coming along just as I imagined, and it is so much fun to work on. I think this is the part I love about creating something... seeing something in my head starting to take form and become reality.

I can't wait to share the pictures of the finished quilt with you someday!

Are you ready for this week’s link loves???

Morning by Morning Production created this wall of "whites". I love the contrast with the wall and the collection of white items. Beautiful!

I have been wanting to work on some stencil projects lately and looking at some books...Maybe Matilda shared this essay and lovely doily tee with us. Thank you for sharing the loveliness!

I must say when I saw this subway art it almost brought tears to my eyes... because I was thinking about my boys. The creative Imperative created this for her nephew and some for her children. She said it is so important for them to know that they are special and I agree with her! Head over to her blog to see how she did this. Thank you for sharing the great idea!

Those collections of blue jars are so pretty... but how long do you think it would take to buy them one by one when you find them? The Single Nester didn't have to wait for a long time, because she created them all at once from regular jars! I might have to give it a try!

Oh how lovely and sweet... I mean literally. I love cakes, and I am definitely the type to enjoy with my eyes too (well, with blogging that is the only way). I LOVE how she decorated the cake. Head over to Wonder Woman Creations and see more beautiful photos she has shared.

Thank you for all your fabulous creations! I will see you at the next post!

Link Love No. 61!

There were many projects that I liked, but I have to do what I have to do... I picked five favorites for this week's link party!

MeiJo's Joy saw this idea at Tip Junkie one day. She loved it so much that she was determined to recreate this mirror. Even though she had some difficulties along the way, she successfully made one for her wall! She used some cardboard, a lid to support the mirror, and sequins. You should be proud yourself! :)

When I saw this post "DIY Tufted Ottoman"'s before and after picture, my jaw dropped. Five days 5 ways shared how she turned a $40 Craigslist table to this amazing designer piece lookalike. I would love love to have something like this in my living room.

Do you have a name card? I have two of them for my stitchery design business, and for my blogging. I carry them with me most of the time, but they especially came in handy when I went to a bloggers meet up and quilt market. Running with Glitter shared how she made her Mommy/Blog business card. It is such a cute card; it would definitely leave an impression for sure.

I love projects that are inexpensive but have maximal effect and use. Claremont Avenue shared such a project with us. She turned $1 tin pails into stylish pots for her herbs. I thought those would be so perfect on the shelves to sort knick-knacks to declutter (yes I am speaking about my house). Thank you for the great idea!

Taylor Made shared how to turn an ordinary beach towel into a "stake your claim" beach towel! How come I have never thought of this? If you ever have been to a beach, you know the frustration when the wind blows the towels. Go check out her blog to see how she did it!

Thank you all for participating. I hope your summer is one big blast!

Link Love No. 60!

Thank you all for those who left comments or emailed me about the last post. Some of you suggested we contact our bank and such; we have already done that to take extra precautions. You can be never too careful now days.

We had a lot going on this week, and I couldn't get to the link lists till late last night. This time I noticed a lot of links for recipes. I, myself am cooking more lately. The slower summer schedule allows me to find more time to cook better (I mean from scratch, the stuff takes a little more time to cook) meals for my family. Also, experimenting with new recipes is fun for a change!

Here are some of my link loves for this week...

Do you have a striped shirt in your closet you haven't worn for so long? This might be one of the ways to give it a new life. My Own Roadmade this Tuxedo pillow from a shirt. I love the combination of a little mannish fabric with feminine ruffle, great mix!

Mmmm... Check these raspberries-n-cream yogurt pops... (Drools). A Pretty Life in the Suburbs shares the recipe for this perfect summer treat on her blog. I have always been a big fan of pops rather than ice cream. I bet they taste so yummy!

Michella Marie shares a very detailed step by step tutorial on her blog to make this paper peonies. The flower is made out of coffee filters. The flower looks so good, like expensive silk flowers if not better. Great work!

Little Altars shared this perfect example of using something for a different purpose successfully.
I posted my vintage picture frame redo project a while ago, but I never thought about using picture frames like this. Isn't this wall gorgeous? I love it!

Here is one picture of a sophisticated modern kitchen for KIDS! Utah County Momused a computer desk she had at home and came up with this amazing kitchen! Can you believe that she has never used power tools before this project? Wow, her daughter is one little lucky girl!

Thank you all for another amazing link part! Have a happy summer. :)

Link Love No. 58!

Hey, I am back! You might be wondering where I was the last few days. I have been so busy with lots of other things (Psst, that includes the guest post I am doing for Living with punks on Monday...) and couldn't do a post for a couple of days.

Today we had BIG block party with our neighbors and it was lots of fun! I did a face painting booth for the kids and it was a great turn out. Pretty much there was a long line pretty much the whole time. I was going to take some pictures to share, but I did not have a moment to do so.

Well, I had lots of projects that I loved at this link party; it was so hard to choose only five projects! I went back and forth and I finally picked five projects that I am going to highlight this week. I am sorry if you did not get picked this time, but I really appreciate all of your participation in my link party. Thank you!

Ok, the first one... My jaw almost dropped when I saw this charm bracelet. Can't Stop Making Things created this one of a kind very unique piece of jewelry. I need to keep some of my kids small toys, just to make this bracelet!

This is one of those "WOW" projects too. Do you have unattractive book shelves or TV armoire made out of laminate? Well, DIY Kinda Girl did an amazing job on transforming those type of furniture! She shares what kind of products she used to accomplish the project on her blog, go check out how she did it! :)

The Fourth of July is just around the corner, have you decorated your house for one of the biggest holidays yet? Just Sew Sassy shares a step by step tutorial on how she made this unique patriotic pinwheel burlap wreath on her blog. So pretty!

I have to agree with what Simple Simon & Co said, peg dolls are not for girls anymore! They did such a great job on these that my view of peg dolls has totally changed! I know my boys (I mean my hubby included) would LOVE these!

I believe she is new to my link party...4 the Love of Woodshared this beautiful piece of furniture she transformed. I love the writings on top, it adds character and beauty. Thank you for stopping by and come again! :)

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Link Love No 57!

Oh, I had a full week! Between the kids’ summer school, extracurricular activities, and family get-togethers, the time flew by so fast. I made time to do cooking school for my kids last week. I taught them how to make Japanese style curry. I pretty much let them do everything. I had them washing the veggies, cutting them and all the other stuff that needed to be done. There were a few times that I was on edge watching my son cutting the vegetables. The knife was SO close to his fingers, I thought he was going to chop the tip of his fingers off!

I guess I am little bit of a perfectionist, and deep inside I had to fight the urge not to interfere.

Surprisingly they did a great job, and pretty much did everything by themselves. The curry tasted so good too!

Several people asked me if I am doing a cooking school post to share the recipes and stuff. I thought about it, but I decided not to.

If I decided to make this into a post, I don't think I can enjoy the time with my kids as much. I might be more worried about taking good pictures as such and not focusing on my kids. That kind of defeats the purpose.

So, I am sorry, I am not doing cooking school posts each week. I might share the recipes later on though.

Ok, here are the link loves for this week!

Check out these cute gift boxes! Sandy is such a genius person to come up with all of her paper creations. Her design idea is so clever!

I am in love with color orange lately, and these sailor shorts by The Girl stuck out to me. Isn't this so adorable? I love the contrast of the fabrics and the buttons. So cute!

Bless by Tone shared this really unique and fun project. She created a space that transforms for each seasons. This can be a shelf, then it can turn into a plant table and finally it can become a summer bench. Isn't it such a great idea?

One of the skills I would love to develop and get better at is knitting and crocheting. Maya from Little Treasures makes beautiful crochet items. The colors on those headbands are so pretty and vibrant. Thank you for sharing!

Simple Simon & Co shared a great tutorial to make kids chairs! Go check out her blog to see how she did it. Those chairs are so perfect for the back yard and taking on campouts.

Thank you all for your participation. You guys are so awesome! Have a great summer!
