I have some projects...the sun inspires...

Have I mentioned how much I love this gray...and my new stencil...
and you can never go wrong with ticking, I hear it's coming back in fashion full force...
hope so, I just love it!

OK...so maybe I go overboard, but you can never have enough plant stands or a stand for that favorite statue or lamp...right...see, you can never have enough...
...just love the gray!

OK...so here's my next project and I need your help...white shutters...old green shutters???
I won't be using these particular shutters, I have others that match my screen door better...I just put them up to get some sort of idea...
You just never know, you have that uncertainty about things and the help of friends is always welcome...soooo...

I just picked up that cute lil' lamp at Good Will, isn't it cute and now it's totally rewired and fitted with a glass chimney and silicone bulb...how cute is that!!!

Shadow Shot Sunday...Great Beasts

I disappeared

through great humbled doors
I changed
the lock
to my self
I am
at this hour
renewed

great beasts
shouldered my
burdening wisdom
downstream
where my life floats
under the guide
of the tutor
of the sky

I drift
into the eye
of the crow
and sacrifice
self

the shadow
of your wing
kissed my ear
as I return
again
to those great doors
yearning

flying beyond
my sorrows
crow weaves the sounds
of white waves
stroked
by the moon

a gentle calm
swirls
and I lose
nothing
of me

I am
more
of my self
than
I was

Flower shoots are pushing forward as Spring creeps ever so near...my porch swing begs to be hung, but was afraid I'd jinx the season, soon the sun will play games and we'll all want to be a part of it's folly...

Have a wonderful weekend all...and check out SSS for all the great stuff!

Beautiful Jewels...

...an old woman sits at her station
a kitchen table and
time-worn traditions
traveled over
and over
she knows where
her duty lies
family
and the chore
of the day
the soap maker
stirs
and she stirs
while all around
grand children
skip marbles
and kittens frolic
and chickens peck
at the earth
while an old woman toils
and the soap maker
smiles
as grubby, bare feet
await the test
tried and true
bath time

Yummy and ting'ly this garden soap has the grit of organic cornmeal and herbs
to scrub away the grime of a day in paradise...the garden...

Colored gems in flowery fields of fragrance scent your bath in true Bohemian style...

...mmmmmm...the sweet scent of milk..soft...

...Tuscan Olive, an exotic scent that will take you away to the olive groves of far away lands
and immerse you in exotica...a true bathing experience...

WHATEVER...it's just plain good!!!

Could it be from the Provence...

I got this piece from Sisters' to paint for her, at first we were thinking black, very country Iowa...then I got to looking at the piece and then I looked at my can of gray paint and thought, hmmmmm...
The piece started to look very cottage-y to me...I think I may just pull off that look of French cottage...what do you think...

The last of the snows last week...

Early this morning...Winter in it's death watch...
a yard in dire need of sunshine...is this what we look like for months without the sun...
no wonder we get cabin fever...

Be gone with ye ol' man Winter!!!

New toys and Spring dances...

Petite bebe...I'm in love...

Look at that face and that lil' dress drenched in petite rose buds...what lil' girl wouldn't cherish this sweet babe...oh my...

...and another charming bebe...

...boy, I'm having a rough time with these two...sell, or not to sell...
that is the question...
after all, this is the biz I'm in , right...and after all...it has been decades since I played with my last baby doll...right...

OK...moving right along...QUICKLY...
...another quirky thing I'm going through, is these old desk lamps...
aren't they so cool painted in the gray color...oh yeah...

...pale blue ironstone...it just calls my name...

...as do the tulips and rose buds of this old plate...
I feel a Spring thing comin' on...

Shadow Shot Sunday....Little Birds...

I'm alone
and waiting
little birds
soon I'll
feel your flights
of fancy
all 'round
my nest

I'll sweep
Winter's stale
breath
from my hearth
and sing
the lyrics
of spring
with the sun
on my palm

oh warm sun
my hand lingers
under your
gaze
while
blue birds
peck at my hair
nesting
on warm blue orbs
life renews

tall grasses
weave
symphonies
to a cricket's
composition
the buzz
and the hum
and the essence
of life
manifesting
into blooms
and beaks
all 'round

again
it is Spring
and it is
sacred
and
I would trade
my soul
for a song
and a day
in the
sun

Ok...we're feelin' it...Spring is in the air, though some of us are still getting snows,
right Colleen...
but we know this time of year they don't last long...although if it were to snow 6 inches tomorrow, I'd be devastated...after tasting the sweet warmth and the promise of Spring
it's hard to go back...and right now I'm so sick of my woolies and long-Johns...
Anyway, it's Sunday in Australia...
and Shadow Shot Sunday awaits...

Textures...and celebration....

I love this old fireplace surround...I'm on the hunt for the perfect piece for the chateau...

You can never have enough plant stand...right...

There's that French influence again...what a sweet lil' settee...oui...

Yet black is still hot!

and this buffet proves it...

So let's celebrate the coming spring and get out there and shop...it's time to start sweeping off the porches in anticipation of the lounging and sweet tea times ahead...

Is it here yet???

I see Spring things...

Brandon has compiled, again for us, some of the cutest displays...always a treat to enter his space...as bathing beauties on fragile cardboard boxes,
beckon you to a summer's day coming soon...

This wonderful statue is a prize well stated at three feet tall, wouldn't she be grand on a porch table or parlor table anywhere in your home...

Love the colors of this old rug, doesn't it just ring in a season, with grasses and mosses ready for displaying...

Here we come soccer Moms...toys of a summer coming your way...

...and who doesn't love ironstone...piles of ironstone!!!

We've still got a ways to go before our season of growth begins here at Sister's Garden...
but once the mountains of snows disappear and the buds begin to flourish...
Spring will be gathering friends and neighbors to celebrate the season of love...
love junking that is!!!

Quiet Elegance...

I find that here in the Midwest, in my country home, the French influence is not easily found, my tastes in Victorian country abound. Years of collecting and trading pieces in the shops, has left me with a mishmash of favorite pieces, that I'm loathe to trade off, yet am willing to alter through paint.

Delicate floral embellishments and swirlies pressed into oak kitchen chairs...

...add a pillow made from old ticking fabric and you have
American country/Victorian/cottage vintage...

...so I played around with a new lamp that I found at the Salvation Army store and thought that the ticking fabric would look awesome on this frame I'd been hoarding for something special...

...cute huh!!!

Paired in a setting with old portraits and...

...purdy vases, you have American, eclectic, cottage charm,
with undertones and muted color tones of the Provence...
I can ever so slightly pull in the French charm that is my current obsession...
throw in some sultry Brigitte Bardot music and you've set the mood...oui...

However, the chair and lamp are going to Sister's Garden today...
see ya there!!!
