My Christmas Home 2016

Hello Everyone! Today I am thrilled to be sharing my home all decked out for Christmas with each of you. If you are visiting here from, Jennifer Rizzo Designs, WELCOME! I am so glad you are here.

A big thanks to Decor Gold Designs and Randi Garrett Design for asking me to be part of their "Deck the Halls Christmas Home Tour." Be sure to check out all the other talented participants at the end of my post. You won't want to miss all of their gorgeous Christmas spaces.

Now, on to my tour!

As you can see, I kept my color scheme and overall design pretty similar to last year's Christmas decor. I normally really change things up, but I loved it so much last year, I decided I should enjoy it for one more Christmas. :)

The biggest change is that I added some natural greenery this year. I love the combination of the my flocked tree and garland and the fresh cedar garlands in my home. The smell of the fresh cedar is to die for and the brightness and texture it adds to the space is really beautiful!

I changed up my mantel from last year by using this cascading garland, which I bought a few years ago. I wanted a flocked garland, and since it wasn't I decided to flock it myself. I used this flocking kit. It was super easy, and I love the end result.

I kept the decor in my tree relatively the same, but this year I added some beautiful aqua glittered ribbon. I love the way it shines when the lights are on.

My dining area is adjacent to my living room, so I continued my Christmas decor into that area by tying some sweet iced wreaths to the back of my dining chairs with some sating ribbon.

A tiered glass jar, some pretty mercury glass candlesticks and some more fresh greens adorn the center of my dining table.

Thank you for visiting my Christmas home! Next, be sure to head over to see the gorgeous Christmas living room of the talented duo of CC and Mike, at CC and Mike Creative. :) I promise, it will not disappoint! Also, check out the full list of participants, below. Happy Holidays!

A Holiday With Heart Blog Hop

Hello, everyone! I am so happy that my sweet friend, Jennifer Stagg, from the withHeart blog asked me to be a part of her A Holiday With Heart blog hop. It is an honor to be participating in this tour with such talented and wonderful women! If you are visiting from, The White Buffalo Styling Co., Welcome! I'm so glad you are here.

Jennifer Stagg asked each of the blog hop participants to share what makes the Holidays special to us.  Specifically, she wants us to share the traditions we participate in with our families that bring us the true joy of the season. My family and I have quite a few traditions we take part in during the Holidays. If I shared them all, you might fall asleep before you make it to the end of my post, so I'll just share a few of our favorites instead. ;) I also thought it would be fun to show you some pictures of my Christmas decor from not only this year, but also from years past, as I tell you about a few of our favorite Holiday traditions. Sound good? Great, here we go!

The Nutcracker

This is one of my favorite traditions,  because it is one that my daughters and I do together. Both of my girls are dancers. They love everything about dance. At a young age, before my son was born, I took my girls to a local production of the Nutcracker. They were mesmerized! The costumes, the dancing, the story, they loved every minute. It only took going to one time to know that this would become a tradition for us. Over the last few years, our tradition has evolved. A good friend has a daughter that dances in the production each year. To support her, we attend the ballet with her Mom and sisters and another good friend and her daughters. We all go out to eat together afterward. The production we go to is always in November and it acts as a kick off to our Holiday season!

Christmas Books

Each year at Christmastime, my husband and I get our kids a new Christmas book. The kids get the book on the 1st of December and we all read it together as a family and then throughout the month we read the books we have collected from past years. The books we choose to buy generally focus on the true meaning of Christmas and are a great way to bring the spirit of Christmas into our home all month long.

Service

Each Holiday season our family chooses a service project or charity to donate our time and resources to. It is important to my husband and I that we teach our children how to serve others. Some of the services we have performed over the years  are shopping for and donating toys and clothing to a local shelter, adopting a less fortunate family for Christmas, and making toys to donate to an organization that sells the donated toys to raise money for our local Children's Hospital. Although, we try to teach our kids the value of service all year long, we feel it is especially important for our family to serve others during a time where there is so much focus on getting gifts for ourselves.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Brunch

On Christmas Eve our extended family gathers together, usually at our home, to have dinner and take part in some activities. The kids bake and decorate cookies for Santa, we read the story of Christ's birth from the bible and play some fun games. On Christmas day everyone gather together again, at my Mother and Father in law's home for brunch. Every brunch includes my husband's grandmother's famous Breakfast Casserole. I can't imagine Christmas without that casserole. This year will be especially bittersweet when that casserole is served, with the passing of our beautiful Grandmother just a few months ago.

My Holiday Home 2015

I'm so pleased to be sharing my 2015 Holiday Home with you. Last year, I decorated my home in silver, gold and white. While I absolutely loved how clean and fresh that palette was, this year I knew I wanted to add a bit of color. I also decided to pull the trigger on buying a flocked tree, which I had been wanting for years. I think this year's decor might be my favorite ever! I love the joy and happiness that Christmas decor helps bring to our home each year. I hope that as you scroll through the pictures, that they will bring you a little happiness too!

I hope you enjoyed this little look into my home for the Holidays! I also hope that each of you is able to experience the joy of the season in your own homes or wherever you may be! Happy Holiday, friends!
