Australia exhibition at the Royal Academy

I personally can't wait to see this exhibition, which I've already bought tickets for. A lot of these works are paintings I've seen since childhood and have strong links to memories of growing up in Sydney (probably more emotional than factual!). Many works are from indigenous artists, giving this exhibition a more rounded feel for Australian art. If you're in London between now and 8th December I would recommend seeing this!

David Welch: Artist

This artist, David Welch, caught my eye as I browsed the Charles Hewitt gallery site. These 3 paintings in particular from his series The Road to Wee Jasper capture something of the shimmering heat of the Australian landscape. Currently there's another series displayed on the gallery website called Girt.

rooms with great art part 2

You can tell I've become lazy about blogging - most of these come from the fantastic desire to inspire. I don't usually take so many images from one source but some of the art on these walls is amazing. I love the rooms where the paintings look completely out of place, yet they work somehow. Usually a modern abstract art work in an otherwise traditionally decorated room. Hopefully I'll be in better form next week! Have a wonderful and fulfilling weekend. Next week I'm posting some pics of improvised shelving in my son's bedroom. x
source unknown but love the painting in this one!

paintings printed on canvas

Mum has had my paintings printed onto canvas and stretched over frames, just like the real thing! I think they look great. So now we both have the same paintings hanging in our homes on opposite sides of the world!

A favourite corner of my house

this is a favourite corner of my house - displaying 2 of my recent paintings along with a gorgeous bookshelf containing all my cooking books and photo albums and a cute lampshade from india. There's a baby's shoe box on the bottom shelf that belongs to my son - it was his first pair of shoes (in 1995). Also a handmade/handpainted terracotta bowl with lid from Italy on the top shelf. Oh, and a cheap tall lamp from Ikea - oh well, it does the job!
