30th Birthday Twist and Pop Card

Hi everyone!

I'm back with card, this one is for my sister (in-laws) 30th Birthday. I wanted to do something extra special as it was a big birthday and I took to pinterest and youtube for inspiration and came across loads of Twist and Pop cards, which apparently were a craze about a year ago. Clearly I missed that one! anyway I found a really good tutorial on youtube which meant I didn't have to have such a big mechanism inside - you can see it here

I set out with very little real design in mind but this was the outcome:

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Little Miss Muffet Challenge - Anything Goes
Seize the Birthday - Ocean Colours (Blue, Green or Aqua) [I hope the splashes of cream and orange don't count against this]

Anything Goes with the Twitst of a Male Card - Wish Big

Morning all and welcome to the new challenge for Crafty Catz.

So this weeks theme is - as always - anything goes, but to compliment last weeks challenge, we've got the added twist of a Male Card. We are sponsored this week by Rick St Dennis and the lucky winner will get 3 images of their choice

Now, I made a card with an image we we're kindly donated and I stupidly tried to photograph it late on Tuesday night after I got back from a huge event at work - needless to say, fatigue, photography and a cup of tea are a bad combination and I ruined the card before I managed to snap a pic.

So instead I'm afraid I've only got a really simple card I made for my Dad's birthday to share with you instead.

The card uses up lots of scraps of paper and card and the edges were inked using Distress Inks in Festive Berries, Wild Honey, Evergreen Bough, Pumice Stone and Vintage Photo. I used some ribbon from stash to bring it all together.

CAS and quick to make. Hope you like it and apologies again for the lack of sponsor card. Anyway, until next time, happy crafting

Hope your Birthday is Pure Magic

Afternoon all.

Hope you're having a great weekend. Just a quick post from me today. This is my Dad's birthday card and I used a fab image by Mo called Wiz and the background was created using a new stencil from Create a Smile Stamps.

Everything is coloured using promarkers - though I forget to create a list of colours. The background was made by using two colours (I think it was Gold and Apricot) and I just coloured plain white card and blended until I got the colour I wanted. I then using white gel pen to draw around the stencil and used Pumpkin (I think) to colour some areas in darker. I finished off the other spaces with stickles star dust.

Hope you like it. I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Inspiration Destination - Anything Goes
Crafting with an Attitude - Anything Goes
Crafty Girls Creations - Anything Goes
Little Miss Muffet Challenge - Anything Goes

Until next time - happy crafting!

Happy 30th Birthday

Good afternoon and Happy New Year's Eve!

Wow! where has Christmas gone - I can't believe that Christmas came and went as quickly as it did - I hope you all had a wonderful day with family and friends. Well it's the end of 2015 - wow!  and I'm finishing with a Birthday card.

So many of my friends turned 30 this year so I've been making more than a few of these and I'm already preparing next years!

Much like the other 30th cards I did earlier in the year, the card has a number of facts from the year my friend was born but I also added the meaning of her name to this one.

It's a great card to use up scraps of paper too. I would like to enter this into the following challenges
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes
Simply Papercraft - Anything Goes

Have a great New Years Eve and blessings to you all for 2016. Until next time - happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Masculine

Hey Guys

Here's to another Friday and the end of another exhausting week. It is the season to be manic! or something like that anyway. It's new challenge time at Crafty Catz and our theme this week has been set by Christine who wants to see Masculine cards. Our sponsor is Fred She Said who are giving our lucky winners a $15 Gift Voucher

Well I'm not sure my creation is masculine per say but it is for a male friend:

I used a fabulous image by From The Heart Digi stamps called Birthday Candle. I coloured it with Promarkers: Buttercup, Mustard, Gold, Ruby, Maroon, Cool Aqua, Duck Egg and Cool Grey 1 and used Distress Inks: Vintage Photo and Wild Honey and the papers are Life of the Party by Basic Grey. I finished it with some pips from stash and there you go!

I hope you like it and don't forget to swing by the blog to see everyone and their fabulous creations. Until next time though - happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Special Occasions

Morning all

Well here we are at the end of another week. My free time has shrunk as the new term of events have stared back, so between 2 choirs and Yoga my nights are spent stretching and straining various parts of my body from my vocal cords to my spinal cord. The only downside is the cold nights that come with this time of year and sometimes the lure of the blanket and sofa are so tempting!

I've also been busy reading and I'm well on schedule to finish my discworld challenge on time - but I did take a small detour to read the new Millennium title - The Girl In the Spiders Web.

Anyway, on to this weeks card challenge which has been set by Christine and she wants to see cards for Special Occasions. We are sponsored this week by Bugaboo stamps, who are offering our lucky winner 7 images of their choice:
I've not used a sponsor image this week as I needed to make a 30th Birthday card, so I thought I'd share that with you instead.
I know there are loads of these types of cards around but I always thought they were kind of fun, so I did some research, chose my favourite facts and printed them up in different fonts on the computer. I coloured white card stock with various inks in my collection, heat set them dry and then printed a number of facts in each colour before mixing and matching to get to the final layout. I matted black card onto the base and raised everything on foam pads.

So there you go. My friend loved her card and I have to say I really enjoyed making it, so I may make a few more in this style.

Hope to see you over at Crafty Catz this week but until next time, happy crafting.

Crafty Catz DT - Dies and Punches

Afternoon all,

I just popped by the blog to see if I had any lovely comments to read and there was none. Strange, I thought - then I realised that I'd scheduled this post for next month?!! oh my brain, it's taken itself off on holiday. So, my apologies for the delay in this post, which should have gone live yesterday.

This weeks challenge at Crafty Catz is set by Dianne who wants to see you use your Dies and Punches. We are sponsored this week by Digi Stamps for Joy who are offering our lucky winner 5 images of the winners choice.
 Digistamps4Joy SHOP

So with that in mind, here's my card this week

I decided to keep it simple and girly. The backing paper is a scrap from an old sheet, which I've lost the name to, the edges are dusted with Perfect Plumarie Versamagic ink. An inner boarder is hand drawn with white gel ink. The doily is Xcut and inked up with Perfect Plumarie and Pixie Dust ink. The Butterflies are Memory Box and inked with Sahara Sands and Thatched Straw ink. The gems are from stash and the sentiment is covered in stickles stardust.

So there we go. Hope you like it and hope you're inspired to come and play with us over at Crafty Catz this week. The rest of the team's creations are gorgeous so do stop by to drool. Until next time though, happy crafting!

Our lucky winner will receive a free seat to an online workshop valued $25 or less

My card this week is one of those use up the scraps projects using an image from Bugaboo
I coloured the image with promarkers in the following colours; apple, light green, pastel pink, gold and buttercup. All the papers are scraps and the buttons are from stash.

Until next time, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Birthday's

Morning all,

Here we go again! so Saturday was Dad's 60th Birthday, Sunday I went to an Artists Trade show to discuss commissioning a piece of work from one of my favourite modern artists. Monday I was at the NEC in Birmingham for the International Spring Trade Show, sourcing suppliers for the shop at work. Wednesday I had a specialist tour and last night I was back rehearsing with the choir I sing with - who, just to add to my manic life - rehearse on the other side of town from me!

So Friday's here and that only means one thing in my diary - a new challenge at Crafty Catz. This weeks challenge has been set by Janette and she wants to see Birthday Cards. We are sponsored by Rick St Dennis who are offering our lucky winner 3 images from their collection.

My card this week uses the image Sophie

The image is coloured with promarkers in the following colours; caramel, cinnamon, henna, apricot, oatmeal, pastel pink, burnt orange, dusky rose, ruby, lime green, moss, cornflower, midnight blue and warm grey 1.

The background die is a die by Crafty Ann and the papers are from the Kaisercraft- Madame boutique pad. The sentiment is a freebie I found on pinterest and the gems and pearls are from my stash.

I do hope you like it. Don't forget to pop by the challenge blog to see the other gorgeous creations this week. Until the next time though, happy crafting.

Happy Birthday Dad - the Big 6-0!

Evening all,

A non design team card for a change! lol! this weekend was Dad's 60th Birthday and I wanted to make something a little different for him. I looked around for some inspiration and settled on a tunnel card. Being the big 6-0 I wanted to make sure it was on there but then the issue was making a male card - I know I've said it before but I'll say it again, I hate men's cards! I kept it clean and simple and pulled out lots of dies.
I used my star dies, the letters are memory box and the numbers are cuttlebug kids thinlets. I hand cut the circles having traced the outside of the stars to create the pattern. The papers are all metallic blue's and cream. The 60 and the letters were also double embossed using glimmer powder.

So there you go, my dad's 60th birthday card. Glad I don't have to make my mums for another 2 years!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Sparkle N Sprinkle - Anything Goes - Using loose glitter, Embossing Powder and/or Flock
Imagination Crafts - Anything Goes
Crafting from the heart - Anything Goes

Playing with Paper Piecing - Happy Birthday

Morning one and all,

Is everyone feeling massively stuffed? over indulged on everything? sluggish? - just me then..... Moving swiftly on. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and have enjoyed your break - no matter how short or long - from work.

I have a couple of cards to share with you before we see out the year and the first is a Birthday Card for a male friend. I hate making men's cards with a passion but I love this Happy Birthday Stamp as it makes life so simple. It's also a great way of using up scrap papers.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges (wow it's been a long time since I managed to do that!):

Tuesday Morning Sketches - Anything Goes
Simon Says - Anything Goes
C.R.A.F.T challenge - Anything Goes

Until later, happy crafting

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR CRAFTY CATZ
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US

Crafty Catz is 5 years old! Wooop! bring on the cake! Now, because it's our birthday we have a really simple theme this week - yes, you've guessed it Birthday Cards.

As we're 5 we have 5 lovely sponsors this week giving away lots of lovely goodies to our lucky winners:

4 images of winners choice
Grab a Banner

A surprise gift

prize 3 digital images

12$ gift card to the shop at www.samistamp.blogspot.com (that's equal to 3 images of  choice) to the winner.

Two prizes will be allocated for random org winners and three prizes for the chosen TOP 3

So, having got through all of that - on with my card:
The flower image is from Sami Stamps. I've coloured them with promarkers and layered the images. The base card is embossed with a frame (not clear on the picture), which I then edged with a burgundy promarker. The yellow background is versa magic ink in straw. The oval is embossed with Cuttlebug flourish. The sentiment is computer generated and both it and the oval are inked with versa magic in Violet. It's all finished with pearls.

So there you go. Hope you like the card and don't forget to come and  join us in our Birthday celebration!

Until next time, happy crafting
