Snowman candy bowl

I just listed my newest creation on ebay, actually the first new piece for 2011. Okay, I know I'm slow but hey, at least I'm back in the studio! I've decided that no matter what craziness is going on about here I can go into my studio, close the door and immerse myself in a creative coma!

Here's my Jolly Snowman candy bowl.

You can find it at my Ebay

BWAHAHAHAAAAA ... zombies

Eh hmm, sorry I just couldn't resist. I finally got my Zombie Head candy bowl finished and after 2 days of trying got some photos I'm happy with.

I did a bit of research to find a food safe coating that I could use in my bowls and after chatting with several artists (thank you, you know who you are) and a few varnish experts and checking the FDA's very long list of food safe products I learned something very interesting. Polyurethane is actually considered a food safe finish. It's okay to use on surfaces that come in contact with dry foods. So it's safe to use in my bowls as long as I use several coats (3) of it. I painted on 5 coats for good measure! I'm still suggesting my collectors use wrapped candies only and no sucking on candy then putting it back for later. That's just .........gross.

SOLD  Thank you Amy!
