A Country Peek

I fell in love with this stamp set, From the Herd, last year when it came out in the mini. But I didn't really use it much. And that would be because sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed with the new stuff and some of it sits unused. I did have a little crafty session with Geoffrey's fiance, Amanda, last spring. This card features the image that she colored using our alcohol markers that are now retired. Mine still work fine to this day, lucky me! What really made me use this image was the set of dies Dies by Dave made to coordinate with this set. I am such a sucker for coordinating dies, I can't even tell you how many I have!

Look at these funky fellas!! I adore them. And Amanda did a great job of coloring them :) They have been cheering me up hanging above my work space in my crafting area since the night she colored them. Now it is time for them to go cheer someone else up :) I just love the unconventional colors she used for the critters. Don't you?

See, its a get well card! I am thinking this will go to a co-worker recovering from knee surgery :)

Do you have this set? And what crazy things have you done with it? Enquiring minds want to know! Leave me a comment telling me what you have done, or would do with this set.

Ok, these are the supplies I know for sure were used. I would be guessing at the colors that the animals were colored with. I think that these would be darling watercolored, of course :)

As always, if you seen something you need for your crafting life, just click the image and it will take you to my store! If your order is less than $150, please use this month's Host Code: PCUN2KHD

Bite Me!

Ok, I don't really want you to bite me :) But you have to admit, it gets your attention! I discovered a new technique this weekend that I just love. It was defined and demonstrated by Janine Tinklenberg (aka the great JanTink) that she calls the Dirty Joseph's Coat technique. Check out that link, she has lovely video tutorial there :)

I started out using the Dynamic Duo challenge, but read the rules again before posting and realized that the challenge is to use those 2 colors with only neutrals.... oh well! I love the pop of green in this, so no way would I change it  :)
  • Stamps: Bite Me photopolymer, Tags 4 You
  • Paper: White, Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz
  • Ink: Perfect Plum, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Pear Pizzazz

Now this picture goes WAY back to 2007. I think this was the last time we took all of the kids out trick-or-treating together. Sigh.... I miss those days...
Charlene was a Zombie Prom Queen (one of her own dresses and some clearance bin costume makeup), Dakota was the invisible man (sunglasses, a hat, and an ACE wrap!), David was a werewolf (make-up kit off the clearance rack from the year before), and Geoffrey was a young Obiwan Kinobe (with a light saber toy and some felt sewn into a long vest).  This was the best outside, in the dark, photo shoot I have ever had and some of my favorite shots of the kids. I will be working tonight, so we will see what ER is like in Bemidji compared to Red Lake. It was actually quiet in Red Lake on Halloween :)

Little Monsters

Ok, let's just get this out of my system! I have 2 more cards using Monstermania that I made with the same image and on the same day I made the easel card. Yup, I went a little crazy experimenting with the coloring and could not let the images go to waste :)

This is actually the very first card I made with this set. It didn't feel quite right, not balanced or something...

....So I made this one! I like this one better. They are both going to Operation Write Home too. These are really fun images to color, and they are not huge so it goes fast. The Hugs and Kisses sentiment is from a Papertrey Ink stamp set, and fit perfectly with the feelings I wanted to convey with this card :)

Now, how about this for a "little" monster! This is Lily, one of our now 10 year old Golden Retrievers...

....with her sister Rose and one of my other little monsters, Geoffrey. My kids think it is perfectly fine for these dogs to be A) on the couch and B) Lapdogs!

Monstermaniacs Easel Card

Have you seen the newest In With You winner? Doris D. designed this fantastic set of lovable monsters :) Here is a link to a pdf that explains a bit about In With You and how to get this set. This fella just makes me think of hugs and tickle monsters. I wish my kids were still little so we could do tickle monsters... nut I will have grandkids, so I guess I will save it for them!

I used this sketch from Retro Sketches, and the StampinAddicts Pinterest Recycle Challenge #7- easel cards to make this one. It is going in the Operation Write Home box. I think it is just perfect for sending to a kiddo back home :)

This is a full sized card and I just added a score line at 2-1/8" on the card base front so that is stands up. I just used a skinny strip of Pumpkin Pie card stock as the stopper, and there is still plenty of room for a message inside.

Until the grandbabies start coming, I'll just have to giggle at this :)
