Tea and rest

Today's Beautiful Thing is the combination of hot tea and sleep. I called in sick today because I felt icky. The tea is making me feel much better. Back to bed!

Dog Park

Today's Beautiful Thing is our local dog park. It's become our Sunday afternoon ritual to take Lulu around 2 PM and stay for a couple of hours. She loves it.

Homecoming

Today's Beautiful Thing is the happiness I felt in my heart when I heard the front door open. My husband worked today (he never works on Saturdays) and I missed him. :) (No. Those are not our doors. I wish they were!)

TGIF!

Today's Beautiful Thing is the weekend in front of me. A lot went on at work this week and having two days off will be very nice indeed.

Today's Beautiful Thing is the simple pleasure of having my nails done. It's always fun to choose a new color and to see what kind of pretty flower or design they will paint on my fingers and toes. (No, those are not my nails, but I did have something similar done with a dark lavender French design and silver trim. My husband requested it.)

Laughter

Today's Beautiful Thing is laughter. I laughed a lot today and it really made the day go by faster. Thanks T! :)

new window!

Today's Beautiful Thing is our new bedroom window. (No, that's not it above, but it looks like that.) We like it so much, it's inspired us to (finally!) redecorate the room. We're mulling over new paint, comforter and window treatment ideas. Sometimes one good thing leads to another. :)

I can do it!

Today's Beautiful Thing is getting all my chores done. A simple thing really, but it feels good to do.

the house to myself

Today's Beautiful Thing is having the house to myself. When you grow up as an only child, you get used to spending a lot of time alone. I love my husband dearly, but sometimes it's nice to be home all by myself for a few hours.

The picture above is my protagonist's mountains. I found it just this morning. It makes me happy.

My thoughtful aunt

Today's Beautiful Thing is my sweet Aunt Toni. She sent me a picture of what it looked like at her house today. I love the mountains and I am so jealous! :)

Today is the three month anniversary of the day we had to put Atticus to sleep. Look at me go, Boy. I haven't missed a day! Rest in peace sweetie.

a walk

Today's Beautiful thing is a walk with my husband and my dog, Lulu. All three of us enjoy stretching our legs after dinner.

This Blog

Today's Beautiful Thing is this Blog itself! By writing a line or two every single day, I am forced (yes, some days it does feel forced) to think about something beautiful--even on the very worst of days. The coolest thing is that I know people seldom read this blog, but I do it anyway--for myself and to honor the beloved pets who have shared my life. What a blessing this has been.

I have no idea why my photos are not showing up tonight. I sure hope they come back!

Daydreaming

Today's Beautiful Thing is the joy of daydreaming about the WIP. It's been a long time since writing was fun. I'm enjoying myself. Thanks to Michele for her encouragement.

Tradition

Today's Beautiful Thing is tradition. Our gorgeous little niece Elise was baptised today. (Can't post any pictures because I still can't find my camera cord.) She looked so pretty in the dress my sister-in-law lovingly made for her. We are my husband's older brother's son's God Parents and now his brother and his wife are the Godparents of their younger sister's daughter. It has a nice circular feeling to it. God Bless you, Elise.

Sold!

Today's Beautiful Thing is learning that one of my chapter sisters (who also happens to be a Cherry) just sold her first novel! I won't say her name because she hasn't announced it yet. Congratulations G! Rock on girl!

Breakfast treat

Today's Beautiful Thing is a thoughtful person at work, S, who generously brought breakfast treats for us today. I'd gotten up late, driven to work with my gas tank on empty and hadn't packed breakfast or lunch. A hot cup of my fabulous 99 Cent Store Hazelnut cappuccino and a glazed donut were just the ticket this morning!

Today's beautiful Thing is the joy of a brand new lipstick in just the right shade. Mwah! Smooches.

Sense of Humor

Today's Beautiful Thing is a good sense of humor. These last couple of weeks have been very busy and I appreciate the hubby and T having a good sense of humor. Also a certain group of "cool girls" (you know who you are) who have keep me smiling the last couple of days. Thank you.

Free time

Today's Beautiful Thing is a couple of hours of free time. I bummed around the internet and now I'm going to write for a while.

Help is nice

Today's Beautiful Thing is getting a little help in the kitchen. I was so tired today and the hubby helped me clean up the kitchen after dinner. I didn't even have to ask him!

Family

Today's Beautiful Thing is family. I had a very nice time at my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's house tonight for Easter dinner. We played with my niece, ate ham and hid plastic eggs. Nothing unusual, just a nice evening shared with family.

(Wireless still down. Posting a second day from the hubby's computer. No pics here.)

Wireless

Today's Beautiful Thing is my wireless connection. I seem to have lost it this afternoon, and I am appreciating it even more now that it's gone.

A great read

Today's Beautiful Thing is a good GREAT read. I absolutely adore this book, R.L. LaFevers's Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos. It's a middle grade book, but I recommend it to anyone who likes a fun book. I only have about 50 pages left to read and I'm savoring every last one of them. :)

Something Nice

Today's Beautiful Thing is doing something nice for myself. We all deserve a little something special once in a while. :)

Lulu's velvety muzzle

Today's beautiful thing is the underside of Lulu's velvety muzzle when she reaches up to take a treat from my husband's hand. Her white fur is so soft and you can see the delicate pink skin underneath. Her mouth is all soft and almost gummy looking because her teeth our hidden by her puggy jowls. She is so darned cute!

Breakfast for Dinner

Today's Beautiful Thing is the simplicity of breakfast for dinner. Scrambled eggs and pancakes for me, the same for the hubby plus sausage and hash browns. Warm and filling.

Persistence

Today's Beautiful Thing is persistence! Michele's that is. Michele finished rewriting her manuscript today! Woo hoo! I'm so proud of her!

Tying a necktie

Today's Beautiful Thing is learning how to tie a necktie. My husband bought some new ties and is getting rid of some of his old ones. I decided that I'd keep a few. I love the look of a woman in a girly version of a man's dress shirt, slim black pants (or skirt), a man's tie, and sky-high stiletto heels. Looking forward to putting an outfit together.
