Tart Tin Tutorial

Here is a fun and easy little project.
It is a tart tin turned into a note holder or place card holder.
supplies you'll need:
tart tin (I used the tiny ones)
hammer
wire (20-24 gauge works) about 6"
awl or nail to make hole
glue gun
wire snips
pliers
and something to set tart tin on to punch hole
(I used an old paint bottle, fit perfect)

1. lay tart tin on top of bottle,
using awl or nail, punch two holes in top 1/4 to 1/2" apart.

2. cut a 6" piece of wire.
holding in one hand,
use other hand to bend wire into a circle.
(You could also just fine a 1" dowel or ? and bend it around it.)
This is the shape you should end up with.
(you could play with this and make hearts etc)

3. Push wire into top of holes in tin.
4. Turn tin over and pull wires through enough
to bend ends over about 1/2" toward each other.

then pull out from front till bent wires are flat on back.

5. Hot glue wires in place.

Turn it over and fill with whatever name, scripture,
or inspiring word you want.

These are really quick and easy and fun.

Let me see some if you do them!!

blessings on your day

Paper Sachet Tutorial

Last year I purchased paper sachets for the store.
(not the one pictured above)
When someone came in to get more this year, I was out,
and had not reordered.
She wanted them as a 'gift' to put at everyone's
place at a luncheon. Great idea huh??

So, I decided to make her some.
Here are the instructions I figured out as I went.
(apologies for background colors. I was in a hurry)

1. Find a print you like for your sachet.

These can be found a loAlign Centert of places on the internet.

FREE!! Check my side bar for a few places.

I found this one at

Marie's Freebies

2. Getting ready to print:

I copy picture into word where I can adjust size to what I want.

Make sure they are positioned with a bit of room on

each side for the ‘flaps’ to be cut out, with most of the room on bottom half of page.

(I usually do one on just plain paper to try it out first)

Now print them out.

3. Make a *pattern (as shown), and cut out.

(I made the pattern by drawing about 1/2" around sides and top.

This makes the flaps. Leave a longer section for the bottom to fold up to reach bottom side of top flap. Clear??

The hole in the middle is the size of your picture. I cut out the practice picture, centered it on the top part and drew around it. Then cut the hole out. It helps line it up.

Round corners as shown. To do this evenly I fold the pattern then cut.

Make note: the very bottom of the flap is slightly narrower than the top part of the flap.

that way it is smaller than main part to allow for smooth fit when glued.

4. Trace onto the paper with the picture for your sachet, and cut out.

5. Fold bottom flap up and crease, then fold the side flaps and crease.

6 Gluing: Use glue stick to put glue side pieces making sure to get glue all the way to outside edge. Press onto back and rub together till firmly glued.

7. Fill 1/3 to ½ with lavender.

Glue top flap over back piece, again making sure it adheres firmly.

Add any trim, sparkles etc you would like.

(I will add little sparkles to the Christmas tree trim. You could also add a little lace, or a bow, or button)

And there you have it- your own ‘line’ of sachets.

(this sachet is about 3 x 4 1/2") & I used about 1 Tbsp. of lavender)

OK. There you have it. Once you have your pattern, they are pretty quick to do and make nice little gifts or even package tags.

Blessings

An art treasure to do, and thrifty and vintage finds.

Here is a project for you.
Very little expense, and an hour or so to make.

Here are your supplies

music, picture, lace, glues, paint or ink,
saying printed off computer.
Oh, a mat, or cardboard, your choice in size.

This one is done on a mat.

use glue stick to cover one side of mat.
Lay it on music, and rub with hand to flatten.

Cut music about 1" larger on each side than mat.
Cut corners at an angle as shown.
Poke a hole on inside music paper
and cut to each corner from center.
Cut off extra on inside leaving about 1" to fold over.

Fold music over edge and crease each piece before gluing.
role glue stick down mat one side at a time,
fold paper over and glue down.
(always make sure you press it down good).
Go to next side.
After all edges are glued down, dry brush,
or ink all edges with black or brown.

Adding the picture

You want to put the back on before you trim the front.
Otherwise you have an uneven surface to try to work on.
Take your picutre you have chosen,
and glue it to a piece of cardboard 1/2" smaller than the mat.

Glue this piece with the picture on it to the back side of the mat,
with picutre facing through hole.
Be sure to smooth it down good to make sure it sticks.
I then glue a dictionary page on the back to finish it.

Turn your piece over and begin to trim it how you would like.
I added some lace to the corner,
and a piece across the bottom of the girl
(thus filling the gap where the pic was too short for the mat.) =0)

I glued my saying on,
some tea bag roses I made.
This one is not quite finished. I will
be adding butterflies, and some buttons yet.

If you want a hanger, use ribbon or narrow
lace and know and glue at corners.
(see above where you glued that back on)
I like to do it on the back cause then there is a choice to hang it
or sit it on an easel and the hanger does not show.
You can see some other ideas here.

And don't forget the giveaway HERE

And come back Friday for how to's on making a baby shoe look vintage.
