Restoran Curry Leaf @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

Restoran Curry Leaf is one of the very famous South Indian restaurants in Seremban. I have been here many years back, perhaps that was sometime when they had first opened this restaurant and the food was pretty good. If you're wondering that the name sound familiar, yes, they also have another outlet which was opened much later in Damansara Utama. Having had some very good food here years back, I decided to drop by for lunch hoping that the quality would be consistent.

The Restaurant Located Along Jalan Rasah

My Lunch @ RM 8.50
The place was reasonably crowded when we arrived. We were not in the mood for a Banana Leaf Rice Meal and decided to go for the plate. Their variety on offer was good and it seemed to be selling fast as well. I went for some rice, Thannichaar, Potato Brinjal Stir Fried, Sura Puttu (Meen Varai), Chicken Perattal and a glass of Rasam. This lot was very reasonably priced at RM 8.50 . For the variety that I had taken, I would say that their prices are quite cheap.

Thannichaar

Potato & Brinjals Stir Fried
Unfortunately, their Thannichaar was just okay. I felt that taste wise it was rather bland and lacked the flavours that I had expected. My rating for this shall be 6/10. Their Potato & Brinjals Stir Fried however was good. Not too greasy and the masala was just right. I would rate the latter at 8/10.

Sura Puttu (Meen Varai)

Chicken Perattal
Their Sura Puttu was again nice. The fish was soft and the anticipated flavours were intact. I would rate this at 7/10. Their Chicken Perattal had the right blend of spices and the gravy was thick. However, it was a tad too salty and that put me off. As for their Chicken Perattal, I would rate this at 4/10.

Rasam

Iced Moor @ RM 2.40
Their Rasam was good, I mean really good and I loved the bold flavours. Absolutely perfect to have just after the meal. My rating for this shall be 9/10. Similarly, their Iced Moor was good too. RM 2.40 for a glass which I felt was quite reasonable. Again, 9/10 shall be my rating for this drink.

After almost a decade, I returned hoping for the very same taste but unfortunately, I am not able to say that all that I had tasted this afternoon was good. Some were good, some were decent and some could have been better. Prices were reasonable though and their service levels were efficient.

Restoran Asia Laksa @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

This morning, we were in search of a good place to have breakfast in Seremban and after doing some read up on social media, it seems that this restaurant called Restoran Asia Laksa is a favourite place for the locals to have their Curry Mee fix. The reviews were so good and it is seems that this place does the best Curry Mee in Seremban. With such kind of reviews, how could we miss this place. Immediately we drove towards Taman Senawang Jaya where this restaurant is located.

The Restaurant Located In Taman Senawang

Crowded With Customers

Prices of The Dishes
To prove what we had read on the Internet, the place was actually crowded and people were seen standing in line for a table. Not only that, you have to stand in line again to place your orders and we were told that it may take a very long time. Usually, the waiting time here from the point of order till the dish is served is approximately one hour and that is exactly the time that it took us this morning. From the time of order, we had to wait for an hour and only then, the dishes arrived. It follows a stringent queue system and even if you're doing take aways, you'd had to wait that long until your turn arrives.

Iced Milo

Iced Coffee
Their drinks arrived pretty fast as it is prepared by another person. Both the Iced Milo as well as Iced Coffee were good and my rating for them shall be 8/10.

Curry Mee (Big) @ RM 6.30

Thick Delicious Curry
Finally, after the long wait, the dishes were served. They have two sizes. The smaller one is priced at RM 5.00 per bowl and the bigger one is priced at RM 6.30 per bowl. The one that you see above is the bigger one and the portion was really huge. The curry was very thick unlike the usual ones that you would commonly get and it came with huge chunks of curried chicken, some Char Siew, a whole hard boiled egg and some Tofu. For the price, I would have to agree that it was generous and taste wise, it was something very different. We would all be used to the more diluted version of Curry Mee and for a change, this was good. My rating for this dish shall be 9/10.

Dry Curry Noodles(Small) @ RM 5.00

All Mixed Up
They also have the Dry Curry Noodles and this too was truly fantastic. It came with curried chicken, minced pork and some Char Siew and as a total dish, it was just fantastic. Very unique and again, generous portions. My rating for this preparation shall be 9/10 as well.

One of the places in Seremban that came highly recommended on social media for their Curry Mee is Restoran Asia Laksa. Don't be surprised to see huge crowd here and the average waiting time before you can be served would be approximately an hour. Their Curry Mee is something that is very unique and comes with some extra thick gravy. Similarly, their Dry Curry Noodles were pretty good as well. A very different kind of preparation that would give you an unique experience. Definitely worth trying.

Restoran Sin Yit Sing @ Seremban,Negeri Sembilan

We wanted to have a good Chinese Seafood meal and when I checked in Google as well as Foursquare, everyone was voting for this restaurant called Restoran Sin Yik Sing which is located in Taman AST, Seremban. There was not a single bad comment and each and every review was praising their crab dish. However, everyone one of them also said that this place is relatively pricey but since the food is good, they don't mind paying and patronising this restaurant every now and then. We too did not mind paying slightly higher prices as long as the food was good. And with Waze's help, we managed to arrive at the destination with ease.

The Restaurant Located In Taman AST, Seremban

Some Of Their Signature Dishes

Some Of Their Signature Dishes

Some Of Their Signature Dishes

Some Of Their Signature Dishes
This restaurant occupies two shop lots and they seem to be very popular among the locals. We were here quite late in the evening, close to 10 pm and even then, the crowd was very encouraging. Their menu is very organised and they have included photographs of the dishes and the prices are clearly spelled. Seasonal items, they inform you the price at the point of ordering before confirming the order which I found to be an excellent practice. This would surely avoid any dispute that can come about when the bill is presented. Overall, their prices are definitely premium but looking at the crowd and the reviews, we were confident that the food has also got to be good.

Fried Mee Hoon with Clams @ RM 21.20

Kam Heong Fish Head @ RM 42.40
Both the above dishes are Signature dishes here and we wanted to try them both. Their Fried Mee Hoon with Clams was priced at RM 21.20 which I found to be quite reasonable looking at the portions. The dish was really good and the flavours were just amazing. The spices that had been added into the noodles had seeped  in well into the clams and that overall taste was excellent. 9/10 shall be my rating for this. The second dish, Kam Heong Fish Head was absolutely mind blowing. If you love Fish Head, you have got to try this preparation. Something unique that I have not come across elsewhere. It was so juicy and the spiciness that came from the sambal as well as the bird eye chilies were just amazing. The Fish Head had been fried to a crisp as well and it was so addictive and heavenly. If you are a fan of Fish Head, this dish is a must try. 10/10 would be my rating for this dish.

Marmite Crabs (1.1 Kg) @ RM 110.77

The Homemade Specialty Sauce That Goes With The Crabs
The Mangrove Crabs were priced at RM 100.70 per Kg and since our dish came to 1.1 Kg, it was priced at RM 110.77 . Not to say that very expensive too. The preparation was heavenly. You have got to try this Marmite Crabs as it was too good. They have their own homemade sauce that goes with the crabs and after adding a dash of that, you would just be in cloud nine. A highly recommended dish and my rating for this shall be 10/10.

Based on the vote of the locals on social media as well as the dishes that we had tried this evening, this is definitely one of the best Chinese Seafood Restaurants in Seremban. Their Fried Noodles with Clams, Kam Heong Fish Head as well as their Marmite Crabs with their own homemade dip sauce were just heavenly. I wouldn't even mind just driving down to Seremban one evening just for this lovely food as it was absolutely worth it. Slightly premium prices but amazing food.

Haji Shariff Cendol @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

When you're visiting Seremban, another good restaurant that should not be missed would be Haji Shariff Cndol which is located along Jalan Yam Tuan, quite close to the intersection of Jalan Nunis. This restaurant is open from Saturday till Thursday, from 10.30 am till 6 pm.

The Present Restaurant Located Along Jalan Yam Tuan, Seremban

Brief History Seen At The Restaurant
This restaurant has been at numerous locations in Seremban and this is clearly seen at the restaurant where they have displayed the how this restaurant had evolved to it's present state from it's humble beginnings. Business has been very good and most times, you would have to queue up to collect your Cendol and Rojak.

Prices Of Dishes

Wait In Line At Both Stations
They occupy two shop lots, and the Rojak counter is in one unit and the Cendol station is at the other unit. It is purely a self service restaurant as that is the best way to cope with the crowd. Even today, not only the queue's were long, but we had to wait a while before even getting a place to sit. Prices are very reasonable and it's truly worth the wait.

Cendol Biasa @ RM 1.50

All Stirred Up
They have a variety of Cendol to choose from and what you see above is their Cendol Biasa which is very reasonably priced at RM 1.50 . Very decent portions and it is a taste to remember. Truly one of the best Cendol's that I have tasted. If you're in Seremban, visiting Haji Shariff Cendol is a must.

Empayar Seremban Siew Pow @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

This would be my third entry from my food trail in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. Apologies for not posting the last few days as I was engrossed with the developments on the Malaysian 14th General Elections and the events that unfolded in the days to come. Coming back to our post, this is from Empayar Seremban Siew Pow which is the place that had first put Seremban on the national food map.

The Huge Outlet In Taman Bukit Kepayang

Lots Of Eateries Here
If you're driving on the North South Highway, you would definitely see this place as you pass Seremban on your left assuming that you're heading north bound. To get to this place, you would need to exit Seremban and head towards Taman Bukit Kepayang. From the highway, it's less than a 10 minute drive. Besides the famous Seremban Siew Pau place, there are many more restaurants that are located here. It seems that this place has become famous as a tourist spot and many tourist buses stop here as a mandatory pit stop.

Crispy Siew Pow @ RM 1.70 each

Lovely Local Delicacy
I won't say that this is the place that is mostly visited by the locals to get their Siew Pow fix. In fact, there are many small bakeries in Seremban that is famous for this. However, these are the guys that have put Seremban on the national food map in the early 1990's and I thought that due respect had to be given to these guys. Today, this is more of a tourist stop but still, their Siew Pow's are pretty good. Not to say the best in Seremban as I had previously mentioned, nevertheless still good and value for money. Worth a stop if you have never taste Seremban Siew Pow's before.

Lucky King Bun @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

The next famous place in Seremban that I would like to bring to your attention would be Lucky King Bun that is located in Medan Perdagangan Kepayang, Seremban. This restaurant originally started in Lukut and that is where the original restaurant was. In fact, that restaurant still remains there and this is a branch of that restaurant. Previously, these guys were located behind the KPJ Hospital and in recent years they have moved to this new location.

The Restaurant In Medan Perdagangan Kepayang

This Outlet Has A Very Posh Concept

Lot's Of Write Up's On This Restaurant

Business Hours
This restaurant has received lots of media attention in the recent years and because of that, their business had really bloomed and today, this outlet in Seremban has a very posh concept and is capable of seating a huge number of pax. Another reason for this renovation is simply because they get a lot of tour buses stopping by at their restaurant and that being the case, they need the space to accommodate both walk ins and these reservations.

They Now Have  A Variety Of Buns
Originally, they were only selling the Curry Chicken Bun and in recent years, they have added two more variations to their menu. Besides these, they also have an array of dishes that are mostly premium. I had tried this bun many years back, both at their outlet in Lukut as well as the previous restaurant in Seremban. Since I was on a culinary tour, we decided to stick with the original dish that had made them famous as we had many more place to venture.

Steamed Peanuts @ RM 3.00

Chinese Tea Pot @ RM 4.50
As a standard, they serve all their patrons the above Steamed Peanuts and it was pretty good. Definitely high prices but since it was really good, we didn't mind the premium prices. I would rate this at 9/10. Similarly, their service was excellent. There was a waitress that was assigned to our table and she made sure that our tea pot was always filled up and she kept returning to our table to top up our glasses. Totally enjoyed their personalised service.

Curry Chicken Bun @ RM 34.00

Very Delicious Curry
Their Curry Chicken Bun was freshly baked and it was served in under 20 minutes. This is priced at RM 34.00 and it good to feed three adults. The curry is baked along with the bun and it comes with lots of chicken and potatoes in thick curry. If you would ask me, I would say that their curry was pretty good. A mix between the Chinese and Indian was of preparing curry and the aroma was just heavenly. The bun itself was so soft and delicious and together, they made an awesome meal. My rating for this Curry Chicken Bun would be 9/10.

Our Bill
If you're in Seremban, this would be another restaurant that I would highly recommend. Their Curry Chicken Bun is simply amazing and the bun is so soft and tasty. Similarly, their curry comes loaded with chicken and potatoes and it's a taste to remember. Good food and amazing customer service.

Keong Kee Recipe @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

Over the next few days, I would be sharing good food places from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. This set of compilation is from my recent trip there, both in search of good food places as well as part of my work assignment. The first place that I had visited is Kedai Makanan Keong Kee Recipe, which is the most famous place for Wan Tan Mee in Seremban.

Keong Kee Recipe Located Along Jalan Seng Meng Lee

Very Clean And Organised
This restaurant is very famous for it's Wan Tan Mee and is the most sought after place by the locals. We were here quite early and the crowd was just building up. By 8 am, the place was almost full house. Luckily we arrived quite early and managed to beat the crowd and good our food almost instantaneously. The restaurant itself was very clean and organised and is located not too far from the Seremban Main Market.

Chinese Tea
The signature dishes here are their Dry Wan Tan Noodles, Soup Wan Tan Noodles and their Curry Mee but you would be able to observe almost their customers going for the Dry Wan Tan Noodles. Actually, for Curry Mee, there is another place that is very famous which I would be sharing in the days to come. Ordering was a breeze since it was just us and in a matter of minutes, our orders were served. Prices were quite reasonable too.

Dry Wan Tan Noodles (Small) @ RM 4.80

Comes With Some Wanton's In Clear Soup
Being a famous place for Wan Tan Noodles in Seremban, the dish truly stood up to it's reputation. The Egg Noodles were soft and silky and the blend of sauces were good. Their Char Siew was pretty good as well. As a total dish, my rating for this shall be 8/10. Similarly, their Wanton's were good as well and most importantly, they were fresh and tasty. Again, my rating for this too shall be 8/10. If you're in Seremban and looking for a good place for Wan Tan Mee, Keong Kee Recipe shall be a great place to visit.
