New Ebay Listing....

"Petra Pumpkin" Mixed Media Painting

It's been quite a while since my last listing on ebay. Seems like after the holidays are over....so is my creative flow....lol

This painting was fun to create. I upcycled a raised panel painting that I had left over from the holidays.

This large painting measures 13 inches wide by 14 inches high with a wire hanger that adds another 3 inches. It also features a distressed paint finish.

The raised panel painted surface measures 7 1/4 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches high. Petra has been painted with acrylic paints and has been sealed to protect her.

Her hat and collar have been cut from the pages of an early 1900's book. Her tophat is adorned with a rosette made from orange crepe paper and has a vintage celluloid button center. It also features an irredescent peacock feather.

I gave her that eggshell crackle finish that I love also!

And that double paper collar or ruff adds a nice touch also! ♥

She's listed on ebay right now and ends this coming Sunday evening at 9:45pm EDT-6:45pm PDT. I hope you will stop by to see her! You can CLICK HERE to do that! =D

Trick or Treat....Paint My Face........

Doesn't take mch to make a little 3 1/2 year old happy! I think she's grinning from ear to ear just like the little JOL I painted on her face! Not much time for details when you're painting on a toddler.....lol She wasn't very happy when I washed it off while she was getting her bath though. Looks like I'll have to paint another one on her for Halloween night!

Happy Halloween!

Hope you have time to stop by and take a peek at her. She would love to grace your wall this Halloween season, but she's really to pretty to be put away when Halloween is over. SO I would leave her out all year round! ;o)

My "Harvest Pumpkin Moon" Stool on eBay!

Good Morning.....or should I say Goodnight Moon??? hehehe!

While on a girls out day with my dear friend Joycee at the Shady Rest Flea Market in Beach City........I happened upon this little old stool (thanks Gary & Jewell!). Kind of sitting in the back of a booth, not out in the front, I looked at it and saw the hidden potential of what it was about to become. See, I love giving old things a second chance at life......a chance to become something beautiful and loved and passed down from generation to generation. Most people would call me a packrat (and do)........LOL! And I've been known to haul things home from the curb (dumpster diver that I am) and give them a major makeover. Most of the treasures that I have saved from the dump have all been sold in my shoppe and at craft fairs over the years.

My favorite subject is pumpkins and when I saw this little stool, I knew that I had to paint the seat and make it into a big beaming pumpkin face! It was very rough with lots of layers of cracked chippy paint but that's exactly what I LOVE! So I just cleaned it up and sanded the top a bit before starting. After getting the face painted on that bumpy surface I thought......."Geesh! It looks like the surface of the moon!!" I can't wait for when, in the fall, the moon rises up over the hill and it's that glowing orange orb, and it's so huge and bright and you can actally see the rough irregular surface of it! I gave this stool an antique black finish over the painted surface and then a hand rubbed paste wax finish......I just love the look that it gives! SO vintage looking! And the crackle shows up beautifully when the stain is applied over the paint. It soaks down into all those little fine lines giving it such detail and character!

Around the outer edge, I painted it black and then let it sit for days (ok....weeks) while I tried to decide just what kind of trim I wanted to give it. Well.....I just love the penny rug fingers made from old book pages and have used that edge finish on my little canvas paintings for quite a while now. So, I decided to do it on this stool too.........48 little penny rug fingers in all! LOL When I discussed this with Joycee she said, "Do you know how much work that's going to be?" LOL I did....but I knew that was the look that I wanted. I know..........I'm a glutton for punishment! hahaha! I then decided to add those little upholstery tacks to the center of each pennyrug finger to give it depth. Well.......let me tell you what it's like trying to hammer those into solid oak wood......it just wasn't happening! So.....I had to go get the cordless drill out and predrill all 48 little holes so I could hammer those little devils in there! I think it was worth all the trouble though. I really like that little extra detail that it gives it! =o)

Anyhow......I'm very proud of the way that it turned out and very scared of listing it on eBay! This is the largest thing that I have ever listed on there and I'm just not sure that it will sell or if people will be willing to pay the shipping cost. Because of the weight of the piece and size of the box, I'm going to try FedEx ground since it was the cheapest way to go.

I hope you have time to stop by and take a peak at my little stool on eBay! I've done a 10 day listing. I really like ending on Sunday evenings and since I was so impatient to list this, I started it on a Thursday which I rarely do.

HaPpY Fall y'all!!!!!!!!

PFATT Tuesday is HERE!

This past Tuesday was PFATT Tuesday and we were all supposed to make a make-do...........so I was alittle bit late but better late than never right??????? hehehe! The PFATTies are one talented bunch of women! Here's the link to go look at more PFATT Tuesday goodies!

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=pfatt

I created this pinkeep make -do from a vintage child's shoe. I painted the entire thing black then hand painted this adorable little pumpkin face on the toe. I added some ribbon laces to match. I used a vintage button and vintage hat pins too. I added a bit of whimsy with the polka dots......always have to have a bit of fun! And last I sprayed it with a bit of fine gold glitter to give it some sparkle! We can never have to much glitter! As Martha would say, "Glitter.......it's a good thing!"

New Vintage*Palette Auction......Miss Candy Corn Queen

This little candy corn cutie is one of my favorites! I painted her on a canvas print that I found at the local thrift shop! The frame was already the right color so I didn't have to do a thing to it.

I painted over the print with acrylic paints and Miss Candy Corn Queen was born! She has real german glass glitter added to her crown and on her dress to make her sparkle in the moonlight!

I hope you have time to stop by and take a peek at her eBay auction before she ends on Friday June 6th at 9:00pm.
