ScorPal & VLVS! - Day One

Welcome to a week full of inspiration!

and

All week we'll be teaming up with the folks @ Scor-Pal and using their amazing scoring tool in conjunction with Viva Las VegaStamps! rubber stamps!

--Leave comments all week long to be entered to win! Scor-Pal has an original Scor-Pal to give away PLUS a lb o' rubber! And we've got a ScorEnvi plus a lb o' rubber!--

Today I'm sharing with you my own (DeeDee here!) contribution -- A layout! I've been on a 12x12 binge lately using stamps to create most of my backgrounds.

Yesterday I showed this instagram picture as a sneak peek to today:

I've grabbed one of my recently received 7Dots Studios collections, my Viva Las VegaStamps! Star Pin stamp, and my Scor-Pal. The star was stamped in Archival Ink by ranger. I fussy cut the stars out and then scored them along the inside lines from point to point. This provides easy folding to make the star a 3D embellishment! Fold the points up and the "non points" down. Scrunch together and tada!

You can see how much DEPTH the star gets in this closeup shot.

and for the full reveal.....

The paper is from 7Dots Studio, random alphas from my stash, black thread (the randomness pattern of the thread is a inspired by our dear Amy Lassiter), washi tape from Gauche Alchemy, chipboard from UmWowStudio, Charcoal Chalkboard mist from Tattered Angels and brads and buttons from My Mind's Eye. The stamps used to create my background include Row of Stars, Carpe the hell, Film Strip, Star Pin and Coffee ring.

The film strip was stamped on the background, and then on each picture. The pictures were cut apart and layered on top of the stamp, creating my own CUSTOM strip of film!

And don't forget about our sale! Get 20% off STOREWIDE through the 15th. use coupon code "aug20" in your cart!

Time 2 Stamp - Episode #1

Welcome back this morning :)

I shared with you earlier some info about our new show Time 2 Stamp with VLVS! and I'm super excited to bring you the first episode. Every other Monday starting today we'll be sharing videos with you based on VLVS!. We'll be airing tips and tricks, bits n bobs, info, examples, tutorials, DIYs, and anything else you can think of! If you have suggestions, questions or comments be sure to post them here or on our facebook wall so that we can address them each show! We're totally open for suggestion :)

For the debut I've decided to show you how to make your own foil tape. The focal point of the video is on foil tape and creating the faux metal background that is oh so popular since the debut of the September 12 tags of 2012.

so grab the following supplies and get to watching the first episode!
-Tin Foil from the cupboard
-Archival Ink
-Acrylic Paint in black and brown
-Steel Wool
-Cream colored cardstock

To finish the tag I actually DID use the distress ink to distress my fussy cut stamp. I also grabbed "Art is the Last" 18925 and stamped it as the message from my typewriter. I needed Miracle Tape to adhere my goodies down. For additional supplies I used some beautiful May Arts ribbon, TH's film reel , Gears, a vintage pen nib, a butterfly die, some basic grey paper, random eyelets and brads.

Linking up to Anything But A Card and TH's 12 tags.

Store Tour - Winners!

Happy Saturday stampers :) Today I've got a list of WINNERS from the Mary Vogel Lozinak blog hop/link up... But first I have a video to show you!!

Our stamps here at Viva Las Vegastamps! are proudly made by hand in America.. actually in Las Vegas, NV! I gather and design stamps from various places (artists, old books, copyright free images) and pile them into (what I hope are) themed boards for your stamping goodness. Then the plates are sent off in digital format to an engraver.. our plates are returned in hard copy. We catalog them in the factory.. which is also where we press them! Then the stamps are mounted and indexed.. and displayed for sale! All in the US.

So we may be starting at the "end" but I think it's really best. Below is a video of about 1/3rd of the store. I thought it best to show in portions as it literally takes hours to see the place. Here is this portion.. in 7 minutes :)

Now for the winners...

Thank you so much for your participation! Some wonderful wonderful pieces were presented and it was such a joy going through all the links and checking out all the pieces.

Thinking Out of the Box with Embossing Powder

I love to think out of the box with a product and come up with an idea that just a little different.. Viva Las Vegastamps! has a wonderful Ultra High Gloss Clear Embossing Powder that is just too much fun to play with.

This embossing powder can be used on detail stamps too. That's really great, because as you know - some don't work well on detail stamps. Here is the link to find it on the Website

well I hope you enjoy that idea, if so, check out my other video on my Youtube channel including lots more using Viva Las Vegastamps!
