Alexander
Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Oliver Stone Stars: Colin Farrell Anthony Hopkins Rosario Dawson Angelina Jolie ...See Full CastStudio: Warner Bros. | The story of the Macedonian conqueror, Alexander the Great (Farrell), who led his armies through 22,000 miles of conquests in just eight years and by the age of 25 had conquered 90% of the known world. | Inevitable comparisons will be drawn between this film and Baz Luhrmann's adaptation, although the two seem to be taking entirely different approaches. The fact that this one beat Luhrmann's to the punch as well as the wide gap between them should leave plenty of room for a box-office conquest. Message Board User Comments | Reviews

The Incredibles
Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Brad Bird Stars: Craig T. Nelson Samuel L. Jackson Holly Hunter Jason Lee ...See Full CastStudio: Buena Vista Pictures | The Incredibles are a family of superheroes who are living a quiet life in the suburbs thanks to the Witness Protection Program - at least until they are called into action to save the world. Unfortunately for the world, their dysfunctional family problems make each super-team outing an adventure, of sorts. | Director Bird hopped ship from Warner Bros. to Pixar after his first film, Iron Giant, panned at the box office thanks at least in part to WB's lack of marketing. The result? Another quality outing for Pixar, and incidentally their first film starring human characters. Message Board User Comments | Reviews

The Ringer
Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Barry W. Blaustein Stars: Johnny Knoxville Katherine Heigl Brian Cox ...See Full CastStudio: Fox Searchlight Pictures | To settle their debts, two men set their eyes on the Special Olympics prize. Johnny Knoxville plays the physically active half of the duo who poses as a mentally disabled athlete and takes on Jimmy, the reigning Olympic champ. | The Farrellys coach from the sidelines on Barry Blaustein's feature debut (he of the so-so wrestling documentary Beyond the Mat). Look for Knoxville's obvious gift for physical comedy to take center stage here, with Cox providing the ambiance that helped elevate Super Troopers several years back. Surviving Christmas
Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Mike Mitchell Stars: Ben Affleck Christina Applegate James Gandolfini Catherine O'Hara ...See Full CastStudio: Columbia Pictures | Depressed record exec Drew Lathem, recently dumped by his girl just before Christmas, returns to his family home and asks the family who now lives there to take him in for the holidays. Little does he know that the family's mental state is much more unstable than his ... | With Bad Santa's breakout popularity last year, Columbia's obviously banking on Christmas's black humor to score with audiences. That's assuming the script problems that held up production and required reshoots were fixed (there were reports that Gandolfini wouldn't come out of his trailer some days because things were going so poorly). And I'll easily admit to being leery of director Mike "Deuce Bigelow" Mitchell and two of the four screenwriters (!), but I'm reserving judgment until the first trailer is released. Fingers crossed. After the Sunset
[11/10] Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Brett Ratner Stars: Pierce Brosnan Salma Hayek Woody Harrelson ...See Full CastStudio: New Line Cinema | After a successful last score, a master thief retires to an island paradise. His lifelong nemesis, a crafty FBI agent, washes ashore to ensure he's making good on his promise. The pair soon enters into a new game of cat-and-mouse. | The idea of Woody Harrelson playing a Fed is enough to get me to cough it up for a ticket. Interestingly, Ratner wasn't the first choice for the film, as Blue Crush's John Stockwell walked away from the project, citing "creative differences." Whatever. And, phew! Ratner's in relatively new waters, with a random, fun cast that includes Don Cheadle and 28 Days Later ...'s Naomie Harris. Message Board User Comments | Reviews

The Brothers Grimm
Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Terry Gilliam Stars: Matt Damon Heath Ledger Monica Bellucci ...See Full CastStudio: Dimension Films | Folklore collectors and con artists, Jake and Will Grimm, travel from village to village pretending to protect townsfolk from enchanted creatures and performing exorcisms. They are put to the test, however, when they encounter a real magical curse in a haunted forest with real magical beings, requiring genuine courage.
| Gilliam's first fairy tale since Baron Munchausen had trouble getting off the ground, like most of the director's projects. Orginally announced at the end of 2002, Grimm was grounded for the better part of a year before it kicked into gear last summer. Look for Ledger to finally break through in the States and Damon to continue to make 2004 a stellar year for himself. Also, it'll be fun to see Bellucci in something less serious for once, right? The Polar Express
Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Robert Zemeckis Stars: Tom Hanks Chris Coppola Michael Jeter ...See Full CastStudio: Castle Rock Entertainment | A boy's belief in Santa Claus is rewarded on Christmas Eve when a steam train pulls up in front of his house and whisks him away to the North Pole. | The most intriguing part of this production is the technique used: all the actors will be covered with motion-capture sensors (which detect details such as facial expression), the data from which will be used to guide CGI animation. The Interpreter
Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Sydney Pollack Stars: Nicole Kidman Sean Penn ...See Full CastStudio: Universal Pictures | Political intrigue and deception unfold inside the United Nations, where an interpreter overhears an assassination plot. | Who besides Sydney Pollack could get permission to shoot footage inside the UN building in New York? That's what happened in January, as the director received clearance for a spring shoot. Ten bucks says Sean Penn tags the building or leaves some other lasting impression. Skipping the Holidays
[11/24] Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Joe Roth Stars: Tim Allen Jamie Lee Curtis ...See Full CastStudio: Sony Pictures Entertainment | Upon receiving a last-minute call from their daughter, Luther and Nora Krank ditch their vacation plans and scramble to get their home in shape to celebrate Christmas. | The directorial debut of Revolution Studios founder Joe Roth is an example of blockbuster-by-numbers. The combined talents of Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis, on top of a Chris Columbus adaptation of a John Grisham best seller, should have no problem warming hearts and emptying wallets. Smartly released the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, it will most likely trounce Surviving Christmas, too. Message Board User Comments | Reviews

A Very Long Engagement
Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet Stars: Audrey Tautou Gaspard Ulliel Jodie Foster ...See Full CastStudio: Warner Bros. | An indomitable young woman sets out on a long, painful, and somewhat comic search for her lover, one of five soldiers left to die in the trenches of the Somme for crimes against France near the end of WWI. Based on the novel by Sebastien Japrisot. | Can Jeunet et Tautou win over audiences, some three years after Amélie? D'accord! Bien sur! Etc. Message Board User Comments | Reviews

National Treasure
[11/24] Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Jon Turteltaub Stars: Nicolas Cage Diane Kruger Justin Bartha Sean Bean ...See Full CastStudio: Buena Vista Pictures | Benjamin Franklin Gates descends from a family of treasure-seekers who've all hunted for the same thing: a war chest hidden by the Founding Fathers prior to the Revolutionary War. Ben's close to discovering its whereabouts, as is his competition, though the FBI is also hip to the hunt. | Seems like Treasure's going to need some major polish to distinguish it as more than a mere Indiana Jones knock-off with a Federal twist. Beauty Shop
Showtimes Trailers Photos
| Director: Bille Woodruff Stars: Queen Latifah ...See Full CastStudio: MGM/UA Distribution Company | The women at Gina's salon, located next door to Calvin's barbershop, have just as much to say as their male counterparts -- and they do it with much more sass and style. | The subject of a hush-hush lawsuit between MGM and writer Mark Brown, who wrote the first Barbershop and received credit for its sequel, Queen Latifah's Shop has some lightweight competition in the form of a Vivica A. Fox-led project of the same name. Did you ever read what Boondocks had to say about Vivica being responsible for the end of Black cinema? Funny ... Message Board User Comments | Reviews
