IRAQ – SHIA UPRISING Wednesday, April 7, 2004 |
|
Witnesses in the city of Fallujah say that as many as 40 people have been killed after a US helicopter fired 3 missiles into a Mosque there today. With as many as a dozen marines killed yesterday in Ramadi, West of Baghdad, battles there and across the country continue unabated. The number of Iraqis killed keeps climbing, surpassing 180 just in the past four days. After a weekend of major conflict - including unprecedented fighting against supporters of the Shi’ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr - Coalition officials are now considering asking President Bush to send more troops. counterSpin debates the ongoing crisis in Iraq and the significance of the Shia uprising.
