The Apache Software Foundation provides support for the Apache
community of open-source software projects. The Apache projects are
characterized by a collaborative, consensus based development process,
an open and pragmatic software license, and a desire to create high
quality software that leads the way in its field. We consider
ourselves not simply a group of projects sharing a server, but rather
a community of developers and users.
You are invited to participate in The Apache Software Foundation. Our membership consists of those individuals
who have demonstrated a commitment to collaborative open-source software
development through sustained participation and contributions within the
Foundation's projects. Of course, you can contribute to the foundation in many
ways:
If you would like to keep up with news and announcements from the
foundation and all its projects, you can subscribe to the new

Apache HTTP Server: Dialtone of the World Wide Web
The Apache Software Foundation is commemorating eight
uninterrupted, consecutive years of web server market leadership. A
continuation of the early NCSA httpd project, the Apache Software
Foundation's HTTP Server has
been the leading web server platform since 1996. Founded as a
collaborative effort aimed at creating a robust, commercial grade,
standards-compliant, and feature-rich HTTP server, we are thrilled
that the worldwide Internet community has embraced open source as a
viable model for software product development. Our achievement is
testament to the benefits of the process of open source software
development itself.
