I was once a little girl, longing for love and acceptance in a modern world. I never found it, so I created my own world of solitary confinement, where I was locked away and drenched in pain. Then, like magic, I was transformed and unbelievably found love, friendship and myself. I am free.

I remember the day when you first entered my life.
I looked at you and whispered to the person beside me,
"She is going to be my best friend!"
But you are more.
So much more than I ever realized.
We've gone from gangly kids to awkward teens to young women
Our journey has been so long together
But my feet will never tire
As long as you are near
You have a piece of my heart
That no one else can touch
Our memories are etched forever in our souls
My sister, my friend
My shrink, my mentor
How can I ever thank you
for coming into my life
and saving me?
